I watch lots of videos like this, they generally repeat each other. But this one was a whole original set. I especially love the plastic bottle faucet :) I will give it a try
good tips, wood be good to say what wood you used for different tasks. funny how I was curious if your wet like next will ignite from the bow drill amber, but then you just jump to the flame in the next frame ;)
Some good ideas here. Pity there is a cut at 14:45 because it would have been good to see whether you had actually started the fire with that method. The main question being: Is what you had done by 14:44 sufficient to start the fire by just blowing or did you have to do it again? It would be good to see that method working from start to finish because it seems quite difficult to me.
He did everything right except he forgot to cut a notch in the board for the dust to collect in if you dont cut a notch it spreads itself too thin on top of the board and wont ignite my guess is he lit it with the zippo
It was a good video overall, but the bow-drill fire was faked. That's not how it works. There has to be a notch cut into the hearthboard to collect the ember, and the tinder has to be much finer and drier in order to be lit and blown into flame from such an ember.
Great video. When you build your guide for the cordage cutter (the little wood block), I would suggest to make the two incisions first and then , after, to cut the length. That way you will have more t grab during the cuts. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the hacks.
Why would you use a SAK corkscrew to use the knife as a carry handle for a small log you could just carry with you hands?! It risks breaking the corkscrew which only designed to use in cork, not wood, therefore losing an otherwise useful implement from the knife.
If he can drive it into the wood, it's probably soft enough for the corkscrew to survive, but it still takes twice as long and puts a greater load on his back than just carrying the log a couple hundred meters with proper carrying technique.
the time it took to drill the cork screw into the log you coulda just carried it back not to mention thats probably terrible for the pins and back springs

I've carried a Swiss army knife for over fifty years Hiking, backpacking and camping. This video is ridiculous. 👎
Dude I’m shocked that you’re not 105 And that you would wear your light coloured canvas shoes into the forest Thank you so much for great content Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦
Well played. Very interesting to me, seeing as how I used to have SAK just like that one. Somebody creeped it. But I did enjoy the video. Have a good day.
The magnet doesn't come with the knife, mine is super tinker too. you can use the dressmaker pin for the needle since victorinox's pin little bit expensive
2:37 OK, so, why would you use your tool to secure two pieces of wood together? Then you'd have no tool! I don't get it. [When I was at Boy Scouts we ALWAYS carried a length of mattress chain with a hook on each end, which we hung off a pole tripod to boil water!! Simple and idiot proof! 5:30 Watching you struggle with the cuts on that small bit of wood - here's a tip. Before cutting the desired length, first do all those other cuts with the saw while the pole is still long. Once the cuts are all done, then cut off at the desired length. Much more manageable.
@@philipthompson2436 I'm not sure that works all the time. At sun up or sundown it isn't always clear which side of straight overhead the sun will be arching as it travels throughout the day. You may not even have a view of the sky due to rain and clouds and snow or terrain. The next time you're out in a rain storm try to pinpoint where the sun is in the sky, then try the same thing at night in the rain. Thanks for the quick answer, but it wasn't very helpful to me.
Well the sun comes up in the east and sets in the west so in the middle is south. At night use the plough, orions belt, the sword points north south. This way you will know which way the needle is pointing. And otherwise if you are yet to learn these basics, maybe just stay home. Oh and your answer above is daft. You don't have to see the sun to work out where it rose from or where it is setting. Another tip but not overly reliable is that if you are in the Northern Hemisphere then the predominant wind direction is Southwesterly so that can also be used.
@@alexpervanoglu7420 ""You don't have to see the sun to work out where it rose from or where it is setting" and you call me daft? Seems to me that the short answer to my question, which everyone seems to be avoiding, is that you CAN'T predict which end of a magnetized needle is going to point north, so thanks for your help.
@@mrhalfstep No you don't. If the sun rises behind cloud you still know that is roughly east, if it sets behind cloud roughly west. If you use a sewing needle it will have a thin pointed end and a thicker end with an eye in it. Due to what is known as magnetic reluctance the pointed end is the one that will point north. Also when you rub a magnet on the needle you should only do this in one direction which also creates a northerly pole. Aside from this I would say you are on here to just be antagonistic because let's be honest, if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow the last thing you'll be worrying about is the direction your needle is pointing.
Fantastic demo!! Two questions... What is the stone around your neck used for sharpening? What footwear are you using? They look seriously comfortable.
My EDC knife is the Tinker,Small. I keep it hanging from my pants loop. For extra carry in the outdoors I like the [Climber and the Huntsman] Main reason; The multi purpose hook and the corkscrew on both.
This may be a good use for it but WD40 is not a lubricant--- not a lubricant--- you can put it on where lubricant should stay and go back sometime later and there will be nothing there...... WD40 is not a lubricant of any desirable viscosity.
My experience with SwissArmy knives led me to this survival hack: throw away any Swiss Army knives that you may foolishly have, and get a full tang bushcraft knife. Never look back. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
The friction fire starting was fake he did the technique wrong didn’t even get to smoke didn’t even get an ember dumped it on course Tinder in order to get it to light on fire they had to do a jump cut to a point after they lit it with a lighter or something
Don't let this guy fool you. The Huntsman (corkscrew) is the same as Super Tinker (phillips screwdriver instead of corkscrew). You will use the phillips 100 times in a year and use the corkscrew on New Years Eve. There is no magnet in the button hook/ parcel hook and no one puts a pin in that little hole. You will never keep your blade sharp enough to make cordage or fishing line from a plastic bottle and bend the pin (that you won't stick in that little hole because it slides out and jabs you) to make a fish hook
Must popular the Victorinox Huntsman💪🇨🇭👌
Huntsman is four layers. His is five layers, so Ranger?
Maybe
@@YOJAYO Yeah it's a Ranger, freeze it at the 1:41 mark, it's five layers, like mine and mine's a Ranger.

It may be a good idea to use the smaller pen knife on most of your wood cutting stuff. It saves the main blade and gives you much more control
good tips, wood be good to say what wood you used for different tasks.

That’s the beauty of a SAK is its ability to do what’s asked of it within reason of course and using it how you want it is part of that experience!
If he can drive it into the wood, it's probably soft enough for the corkscrew to survive, but it still takes twice as long and puts a greater load on his back than just carrying the log a couple hundred meters with proper carrying technique.
As a life long user of these knives I’ll tell you once the corkscrew gets bent it will never be the same and is uncomfortable in the pocket
I always ues my corkscrew to carry my logs 😂
Thanks for video, as all I seen from great.
Keep making them and me and a lot of people 🎉 will watch.
Hey! Very nice video! Could you let me know what is the size of the small magnet? Is it like 2x2 mm? Thanks!

Impressive nonetheless! Ha
What good is the Swiss Army knife if you don’t use it? Duh.
the day you need to lift a log with the cork opener, is like tying your legs and going diving when you are in a survival situation.
For bush crafting I also like the saw in my SAK over my Wave Tool because the cuts are finer.
