Leave the bark on the front of the bow it helps with the spring and makes it stronger. Also when you make your pins to hold your table or any other project together use dead dry wood for the pins. As your pieces dry out they grab down tighter on the pin and your joint doesn’t get loose.
I just got my huntsman. I opened canned black berries. Kerr lid was no match for large screw driver! Love the SAK VIC tool!!!!!!! I touched up all sharp blades. I sharpened the left side of wire stripper like my leatherman.
I gotta agree with you here. If only Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) of Castaway had a Swiss knife in his pocket. He’d have saved himself a lot of trouble … might even have been able to have several hobbies too. He could have fashioned little wooden bowls and used them for cooking soup etc, for while there is liquid in the bowls these won’t burn.

I take the corkscrew over the Philips every time I can carry a fire start , glasses screw drive every money inside and it's good for opening and a few other things where the screwdriver is ok for one type of screw I take a bit kit instead

You can look for The Handyman, too. It has some more tools, as Ranger and Huntsman. Chisel, more screwdriwers and pliers, too. The Huntsman is "smaller" version, as Ranger. The Handyman is a little "biger" as Ranger.

Be carful doing what he did in the first clip. He already knows the pressure point because he probably had this snap back on him once to twice. Do this with care since putting so much pressure in the wrong direction WILL have the blade snap on you and hurt you. Ask how I know this by asking myself 17 years ago.
Since there's hardly any Swiss army at all (historically because of the mountains no need to defend the country) the Swiss Army Knife manufacturers should rename their product into Swiss Citizen Knife
Stop with the overly complicated methods of boiling water in a cup. By the time you spent cutting that tin can to make a stove just to boil water, or made the hollowed out piece of wood stove. I would have already had a cup of water boiled and finished with whatever I was boiling it for before you ever got your fire started. Place a flat rock in your coals of your campfire and lay some fresh tender all around it. Done! You'll have boiling water in about five minutes. I love my SAK but I do get bored watching people trying to make it do tasks that are so easily done in other ways. With all the potential of the SAK to be the one single survival tool that I would choose if I was presented the challenge. I would take it over a almost anything else short of a gun or a bow. Because I understand it's uses and benefits out in the wild. But it's pretty useless without wilderness survival knowledge in general. Just having a SAK or any other tool in a survival situation is pretty much useless without the knowledge of knowing what you need to do and the proper order of your priorities . Shelter, water, food, fire. Skipping shelter to go find food first would leave you vulnerable to hypothermia and dehydration both of which will kill you much faster than going hungry will. For instance. You could die from hypothermia within hours of exposure to cold temperatures without shelter. And you could only make it for around three days without a clean source of water to drink. Whereas you can live up to a week or so without food. But I do enjoy seeing more "Practical" uses for the SAK out in the wild. But all the unesessary things you can do with it that can be done simpler, faster and expend less energy accomplishing. Are going to overcomplicate it and make it daunting for the novice outdoorsman in a possibility dangerous situation.

Hot tip : NEVER use the small blade for prying sap, it's too easy to snap. Always use the can opener tool !

A penicl sharpener makes good arrow tips, plus it keeps the shavings in one place for you to use for tinder.
And you can keep your coloured pencils sharp for colouring in.

Agreed! A Phillips head screwdriver is more useful IMO. The Hiker has a useful combination of tools for my purposes, without being insanely large.
Other uses are that it acts as a holder for the mini screwdriver or the mini firesteel and it can be used to open tight knots.
