207. Frank Arthur Smith, Tim Wardell and Jason Caceres, OutTV's 'OPEN TO IT'

This week we are joined by a delightful trio from the hilarious new queer-led comedy series OPEN TO IT: Frank Arthur Smith ('Greg' and series creator), Tim Wardell ('Cam') and Jason Caceres ('Princeton'), to talk all about the series' first season, upcoming Pride special, what they've learned about themselves throughout production, and what they hope changes in the industry, from better representation to more open-mindedness in the casting process.
Open To It is described as "A queer comedy series about a loving gay couple, who experiments with becoming a hot gay throuple. But a threesome and open relationships come with more complications than extra limbs."
Smith wanted to shed light on LGBTQ+ relationships in a more light-hearted, comedic way as other queer-centered shows like HBO's Looking and Eastsiders veered toward the dramatic aspects of the subject. "There's been some sexy, stupid stuff that's happened to me, so why not put it on screen?"
Wardell spoke about how when it came to things like being shirtless on-camera and love scenes he learned to "throw himself in", to get out of his own head and go for it. Caceres spoke about learning to trust his castmates, the process, crew and himself. "Things can be a little chaotic on set, and that's every set, things may seem overwhelming or going off kilter but just trust that it'll all work out. And trust in the writer," he laughed, "that he'll write me good lines and if not, I'm gonna make stuff up anyway."
