Okay so when you said the C word my mind didn’t go where it was supposed to, followed by talk of “exposing” children to it really had me scratching my head for a few seconds! 😂
It took me a minute, definitely. I thought the c word was something completely different. And it didn't make sense until I figured out what she really meant.
The one about the boyfriend who wouldn't shower struck a nerve with me. I too, HATE getting wet, so I sometimes put off showering as long as possible. However, I don't leave my house or expect to be around other people in that condition. I understand I have to shower when I intend to be around people. I don't understand the lack of being able to push through it for necessity's sake. I mean, if he really can't stand showering, he could use rinse free camping type shower gel (you don't need water). That's what I had to do for two months solid when I broke my ankle and couldn't get upstairs to use the shower. They also make "shower caps" where you can wash your hair without getting into the shower. These work decently well to get rid of body odor and germs. He managed to shower the first 6 months of the relationship, so he is capable. I just wish he would have either learned to push through or gotten therapy if he couldn't. It is just a sad story when someone can't pull themselves out of whatever abuse their parents dished out. Because sure, abuse leaves emotional scars, but once you're not under your parents' control anymore, you have the power to change anything you want about yourself instead of just using it as an excuse to never change. OK I'm rambling now. It just hit home for me.
The reason I hate getting wet is because it's an aspect of my OCD, for which I take lots of medication, but some things still persist. Maybe the guy has OCD (I know people associate that with cleanliness, but that's a stereotype that doesn't apply to all, many people with OCD have the opposite problem because of the bad sensations associated with bathing).
@@nattiegold Panini is one of my go-to joke alternative names for the pandemic, but I couldn't tell you where I picked it up exactly. I thought it had become a bit like Benedict Cumberbatch names where folks just know what you're talking about as long as its a multiple syllable p-word. I guess a little weird to use it in place of covid more specifically than the pandemic though... -shrug-
"My mother never taught me about hygiene (and I have no interest in educating myself about it)"... you know what ELSE his mother never taught him? How to have a meaningful adult relationship. If she was only looking for ff-friend buddies to the point where she let her kid sit in filth, she FOR TRUE wasn't teaching him how to be a good partner. As bad as the lack of hygiene and toddler reaction to being told to shower (IMAGINE needing your GIRLFRIEND to tell you to go take a bath, good lord) might be, that was the true underlying problem that he needed therapy to fix. He was not the perfect guy. He was a train wreck waiting to happen. Glad she got out and allowed herself to feel that relief.
Speaking as someone whose partner had a nightmarish childhood and still struggles with certain ordinary tasks because of it, the one about the unhygienic boyfriend really got to me. Plenty of people who have hang-ups as a result of trauma/neglect never fully recover, so they shouldn’t be expected to just get over it, at least not immediately or easily. That said, how they approach it speaks volumes about their character. The moment her bf was made aware of how much his lack of hygiene was hurting her, he should’ve at least TRIED to do something about it. Whether it was slow, gradual, inconsistent, or even if it ultimately failed and required some sort of compromise instead, he still should’ve tried.
When I first saw "Panini-19" I thought "Dang, that's a huge 'panini', no wonder people were upset." Also, I fall asleep easily, unless I want to, and then I can't.
Ok, reddit sorting incoming. Hot is basically threads that are currently getting activity and rising via upvotes. Top is simply sorted by highest total upvotes. They are kind of similar, but not exactly. An older thread that was very popular might be at the top of Top because it had a lot of activity, but not present in Hot because it is no longer being actively commented on/upvoted. Where this really matters is that Top specifies a time range it's pulling from. When you sort by Top, there is a little drop down that appears below somewhere that lets you pick from-- Last hour, last 24 hours, last week, last month, last year, all time. That makes it sort purely based on total votes within that time period, so Top from All Time is literally the highest upvoted threads ever in that subreddit. Top from This Month is the top threads of this month, you get the idea. Top from last 24 hours is pretty similar to Hot usually. Hot doesn't need something like that because it's already sorting by "current activity" anyway. Usually for these types of videos I think people would sort by Top within some time period just to get the juiciest stuff.

I love new episodes of "Ask Nat" On the last post you were talking about, I believe there is a better approach. Which is to say to the two people cheating "That if they don't confess to Michael and Mary, then you will tell them". And it's important to put a time frame on it, other wise they will just keep pushing it off. I've seen a different but somewhat similar circumstance play out, and by someone not giving the person doing the wrong thing a chance to confess, I believe ultimately lead to his drug/meth addiction and ruined many friendships (for what it's worth, it didn't ruin his life, but definitely caused major damage for years)
