There are no other permanent bans afaik so they should definitely change that. They should also make old permanent bans into 1 year ones (since you could get permanently banned ages ago).
I have an account from 2017 which too this day is still permanently banned for unfair advantage just over 7 years of being banned on hypixel. I hope that they'll reset these bans because since then they've moved on from first ban being perm to 30 days. 7 Years later and I've considered to be ban evading on hypixel although this was my only ban which had occurred a longtime ago.

1:47 Competitive bans will take affect no matter how far apart the bans are, first offense is up to 2 months, second is up to 4 months, third is permanent. Even if you were banned a second time about 5 years apart comp bans still go up
I once got banned from Hypixel without even playing on it. Basically I logged in after several years of not playing Minecraft and found I was banned because of a "security alert" on my account which they apparently are not allowed to tell me what set it off because of some stupid policy. My account has not been breached or shared with anyone, and even though my unban request got accepted, that still puts my account on notice to be permanently banned from Hypixel if another security alert happens. I haven't played on Hypixel since. I don't enjoy the games anyways.

I can't get rid of that record permanently, because they have a stupid two or three strikes policy for security alerts. I'm ticked off at how dysfunctional the ban system is. They won't tell me what the security alert was, AND the fact that they can even PERMABAN accounts because of security alerts in the first place is completely fucked.
I got banned for 30 days ON MY BIRTHDAY (6/1) for an extreme chat infraction. The only thing I've done recently is tell a guy off for judging people based on their rank. And *I* get banned?? Hilarious.
I think comp bans are good for the pit. Long have ppl cheated in there over, and over, and over, and over again. Even tho my false bans essentially guarantee I gotta start all over again or risk everything - its a net positive for the community.
just want to correct you there 2:30 the current dewier ban is the 2nd competitive ban and not the third cuz the first one was a skyblock ban and then the second one was boosting/cheating from the last mini walls tourney and the last one is also a boosting/cheating ban from the last bedwars tournament but he isn't competitive banned permanently
Simon needs to have discussion with players the biggest change if hypixel changes its location to like a center so asian and north american and european players can get nearly equal and good ping

I do believe that people change too, but something I've learned over and over again is once a cheater always a cheater is most often the case. It's not a incomplete system as you've put it just because they refuse to trust multiple-time offenders once again, while it would certainly be apperciated by part of community, from hypixel's side all they are doing is putting cheaters back on the server.
