    Also, a video on achieving LIGHT brown results I'm sure would be very helpful for a lot of people. That is, using cassia but not to achieve strawberry blonde, and not just straight hendigo. I.e. quantities of cassia, indigo, henna and amla needed to achieve a cooler light brown.

    • @Anamaria2301
      @Anamaria2301 2 года назад +3

      Yes!!! I've been trying to find instructions to this but I find very little about this... usually nobody tries to achieve this.. 🤔 I've been wondering if I could reach this by shortening the time how long I keep hendigo mixture in my hair.

    • @pineapplesnoopy1876
      @pineapplesnoopy1876 2 года назад +5

      @@Anamaria2301 SO much I could say about this having done a lot of research and some experimenting! I discovered that you need a certain amount of henna to cover the grey, and any indigo will just make it darker. So a hendigo diluted with cassia will make a lighter brown, but the greys will still look sparkly as it were (but you can get then gold and blended in this way rather than grey and obvious). To make the greys light brown you essentially make the rest of your hair a darker brown than it started, but I find that the indigo tends to wash out a bit in me in any case but I prefer a lighter tone so that's okay, but it is more red than my natural colour... The solution is to indigo gloss when it does this, but that does just mean going darker... And I have found that on light brown hair adding that cooler tone can make it look greenish, I guess that's something that shows more on lighter hair than dark. I did research into colour theory and of course greeny blue (indigo) and yellow/orange (because the henna is pale because you're watering it down) makes green... Then I discovered there is something called katam which is like indigo but more purple-blue than green-blue, and I think in theory would correct yellow-orange to brown. I'm going to try that. I wouldn't personally do a shorter-timed hendigo because it takes so long to do root application anyway so some bits would look darker than others (remember you mustn't just keep applying to your whole hair each month because henna and indigo build up and get darker in layers), and I wouldn't know how long to leave it exactly for the right colour. I hope this helps! :)

    Henna by itself is a very time consuming process. The end result is usually worth it. I mixed the Rajasthani with indigo, including aloe. It was dark reddish brown but literally washed off my hair after waiting 4 days to wash. I am tired of red, although it’s beautiful.

    • @honeychurchgipsy6
      @honeychurchgipsy6 Год назад +7

      @truthreigns3267 - you might be leaving the indigo too long - it needs to be mixed up and applied within 20 minutes because only this initial stage of dye release can dye hair.
      I died my hair in a one step process for years (I part henna to 4 parts indigo: Rajasthani henna mixed in hot tea with cold water and salt for the indigo) and always had a very, very dark brown with no reds at all - I have naturally dark brown hair with a lot of grey at the front but it was always uniformally dark.
      I have allowed my grey to grow out for two years because the colour felt too dark for me at 61 years old, and am now going to attempt a lighter colour on the grey (so I get streaks) by mixing in Cassia and less indigo.

    How long do you wait for the dye to release when doing the one step process since henna and indigo have different dye release timing?

    • @honeychurchgipsy6
      @honeychurchgipsy6 Год назад +2

      @akilahballard1283 - after dye release is achieved with the henna (which depends on temperature and what you mix it with: it can be left over night if mixed with cool liquids but should be used more quickly if mixed with hot), mix the indigo with a spoonful of salt and warm water. Mix immediately into henna and apply within 20 minutes. If you have a lot of hair do it in two batches. Mixing the henna with amla will give darker, ashy tones, using cream of tartar powder will make it a richer auburn colour.

      Brunette here. On my first henna application, my white strands went orange. It's normal for white hair or grey, same when it grows. A second application should level the color. I'm gonna go for a soft black soon, as I don't really like the reddish tone tho, from my chestnut brown henna mix. Indigo alone can be used over the red/orange tone to level out everything.

    I don't know if I should try the bundle, I've chemical-colored hair with thin Asian salt and pepper hair. I'm afraid that my gray hair is going to turn red. I just want my hair to be medium brown, no red. I never did henna or indigo before. Do I mix the henna and let a sit for 3 hours? Indigo power mix and let it sit for 20 minutes.

I have been colouring my hair with henna for almost 5 years, and I've been thinking about colouring it to dark brown, or even black. I have greys, not too much, and henna is covering them perfectly. Can you please tell me which proportion of henna and indigo should I use in that case? Or maybe I should use just indigo? Thank you in advance. All the best 😁

    In order to get a almost black color, should I start with a brown base (50%henna and 50%indigo) or a dark brown (30%henna to 70%indigo) and then apply the indigo as a step 2?

    • @ShqipeDeriNdhe
      @ShqipeDeriNdhe Год назад +1

      Generally for an almost black colour, it’s still a two step process but the first step is just straight henna, and then second step is straight indigo. To make sure it doesn’t go completely black, (depending on your natural hair colour) I wouldn’t personally leave it on too long - I have a dark brown colour with bronze undertones and I left the indigo on for about 1-2 hours (to get black), so I’d probably leave it on less. Just a warning, sometimes the colour doesn’t always catch (which is why the Henna Sooq Indigo packs say to add salt to help it stick better to your hair), sometimes repeated applications are necessary :-)

    The goal is dark brown: In my last application I did 3 applications, - 1st-Indigo 3 parts, and 1 part henna - 2nd & 3rd applications were indigo only- my edges were brown for only a week. and the color rubbed off on my head covering and hands. I'm trying again for the dark brown: 1) Mixing henna & aloe vera powder (2 tsp). 2) Mixing indigo & 2tsp salt 3) Blending them together and applying, allowing to set for at least 3 hours. Any thoughts on how to get to the dark brown from the now red - b/c of the henna? Thank you for all of the videos.

      I don't think you're supposed to mix the indigo until very shortly before your add it to the henna. Indigo dye release happens quickly, not like the slower amount of time it takes for henna.

    hello kadhija! I'm Nicole and I've been following your channel for a couple of years and I decided to cover my gray hair with plants but it's been a long journey and with several disappointments... that's why I'm writing to you, to ask for your help. I have dark ash blonde hair and I was never able to maintain my hair color with henna and other plants. Either it was super blonde or in my current case that I have black hair due to the use of indigo. I have not been able to get this dark color out with anything and I have already bought some products to bleach me and be able to return to my brown color. I feel very frustrated because I really wanted to take care of my hair and cover my gray with natural things and I have given up. What advice would you give me? Is it possible to have an ash chestnut with plants? :(
