WolfheartFPS - I feel so lucky to have found your youtube and discord. Your videos are informative and not full of dramatic BS. When I watch game videos - I am there to learn. Since many times, my family will stop by my computer to watch, I'd just like to say one of the many things I enjoy about your videos is the lack of four letter words - a rarity in many of the videos i've watch. Just want to thank you for that!
I took so much time running through the monastery the first time. If you take the time to read all the books/journals you find then you get a really nice picture of what happened to the place and why the githyanki are there. Awesome first new area to explore after early access.
So, the deal with Guardian of Faith (at least in the tabletop edition of 5e) is that it's an incorporeal being that stays in one spot, deals a set amount of damage, and then vanishes. Sending in summoned creatures like the zombies is probably the easiest way to deal with it-- it seems Larian actually made it *easier* to handle by giving it HP and making it possible (if difficult) to damage it, so you wouldn't be forced to have your party take the hits.
you can cast longstrider on your whole party because its not concentration and it does'nt use a spell slot because its a ritual so its a free 10ft for your whole party. Also if you do aid after summoning your animal it will get the extra hp, its worth casting it using higher level slot for the extra hp. I really like your playthrough!
I’m absolutely loving this series although when watching you figuring out the ceremonial weapons I think I had an aneurysm lol. Your genuine excitement is wonderful and I will continue to watch every minute.

The Elminster books were my introduction to the Forgotten Realms, after having been first introduced to D&D settings in general by the Dragonlance Chronicles books. Would love to have a game like this set in that campaign setting, Dragonlance is pretty rad. Speaking of am ambitious wizard trying to usurp a goddess, imagine a character like Raistlin Majere in a game like this
It still isn't clear to me what Gale did that was so terrible from Mystra's perspective. It sounded like he was trying to do a good thing but ended up falling into a trap. Why would she just abandon him for that?
Basically, in an effort to impress and gain trust of Mystra, Gale attempted to return part of Mystryl's original form or original magic back to Mystra. This backfired, and the result of that backfire is a piece of the weave, totally unstable and violently dangerous, being left inside Gale's physical form. Gale wants to experience magic in a totally unfiltered and boundless way, so he seeks to be a god. His love for magic is greater than his love for Mystra, which is why he performed whatever act resulted in having the orb inside him. That's what he did that upset her. She had already told him not to attempt these things and he didn't anyway, betraying her as a god and as a lover.
As far as mistakes go. Well, hindsight is 20/20. I know I've made so, so many mistakes on my first run especially. But your video on tips for BG3 really helped me to remember things like always checking enemies and pre-casting spells like mage armor.

@WolfheartFPS barbarian's unarmor defense is only active when you are not wearing ANY ARMOR that includes gauntlets and other stuff. Also, unarmor defense gives you ac equal to 10+ dex modifier + constitution modifier.
@@ghostbonepunk1683 I am very aware of this. In one of the episodes (maybe this one?) I simply didn't realize that I put something on Karlach that was labeled as light or medium armor. Eventually I do catch it

The one thing I’m saddened by is he doesn’t have his magic pipe. Probably because it’s 2023, but that pipe is amazing and worth a king’s ransom in a gameplay setting lol
I've never considered myself particularly sensitive to sound but when fighting those drunks at the end there was some lapping water sound or something that kept playing that was driving me up the wall
I'm at episode 9 and now fully in the habit of getting up to actually grab a snack or put on the kettle every time you do a mid-episode pause and suggest it to the viewer :D
Spike growth and cloud of daggers is a insane cc aoe combo that I’m gonna be rocking in my games, set it up at a choke point or agro enemies through it and you’re set
I can't afford an Xbox S or any PC capable of running BG3, thank you for letting me experience the game viscerally. I can't wait to play this when the time is right!
So cool how the play through are different. The Kobolds I encountered first and you had them last. Also I think you might have blew them up. But I had like 3 kobold inside the alcohol barrels. 😅 was pretty funny.
Was looking for an Underdark walkthrough and you just dropped the Mountain Path in my lap. Kinda wanna hit Baldur's Gate but I don't wanna close the Underdark off yet
Karlach is stong enough to hold dead bodies in her inventory, you can fast travel with corpses that way. You can use her as an undead ammo pouch for gale and shadowheart. I havent tried but im sure she could hold a few goblin or gnome bodies
This game is so amazing, its so good I dont want to nit pick. That being said, the game could really use a full team menu. Like the inventory screen etc. that pops up for your current group. But one that has everyone you have recruited, so we can swap gear around and check skills. And maybe a way to retrieve a member from camp without going to camp. We can already dismiss team members whenever, but getting a full team menu and an option on said menu to summon ppl from camp would be so helpful.
In the room with the wine and now dead kobolds there's a drunk invisible creature stumbling around in there, you can hear him burping and gulping wine. 🤨
Guardian of faith is a 4th level cleric spell. However it does not exactly work as depicted here: it does not attack, it’s closer to an aoe dot. It does a fix amount of damage to any hostile coming close to it with a dex saving throw to reduce damage. It hurts itself each time it does damage and can be attacked to reduce its duration.
I am very much enjoying this & will continue to watch & learn. I subscribed last night, & will keep following. I'm still waiting to hear when my BG3 will be delivered - been a week since I ordered it & have no idea how long before it will be coming. So you are keeping me informed (& somewhat patient while waiting - lol) as to what my chars will be facing. I have three PCs I plan to try with, all different, & working with the chars BG3 has given us will be fun, varying their builds slightly to make effective teams. (So I guess I'll learn thru three different games - idk if can play multiple games at once or not, but had better take notes along the way.) But I am definitely going to buy a couple shovels - lol. I do need to learn more about the gods though, since my first PC is to be a sorcerer(draconic)/cleric(Life/Lathander? - it fits the character). I played with her elsewhere & want to try her in BG3. I only got her to level 7 total before I had to leave the group. I've learned so much since then, because I started watching Critical Role & watched their whole first two campaigns. I like your advice & staying in character with your hero is important. i want to see how all my chars will do. #2 is a drow & #3 is a halfling - hee hee.
Don‘t dismiss spike growth! It made the fight against the undead boring 😂. Was just trying to buy time with my ranger to get group in position, instead the undead killed themselfs trying to get to my group. In hindsight it was a chokepoint and it seemed they could not jump.
I think Larian should patch in a +hit chance bonus on prone enemies. As it makes sense that a zombie on his ass is easier to hit than a zombie on his feet.
If you start with 17 CHA consider actor for your lvl 4 feat. Also, you can hunger of hadar over hex to start so you can push enemies back into it. Hex gets more value as you get more beams.
Haven't gone to the Mountain Pass yet in my first run so going to come back to your playthrough later. Been loving your lets play so far, keep up the good work and glad you're enjoying it!
Okay, I haven't met Elminster in my game, as I went straight for the monestary / didn't really travel with Gale much, but he is all of a sudden my favorite character xD
My game REALLY wants me and Gale to be a thing, possibly due to early launch bugs. It's not just him coming onto me, my character says things like "first in my heart" about him even though I'm romancing shadow and have never expressed any interest in Gale, even turning down his magic lesson the second he offered. So when Elminster showed up I was like "wow, you hear that Gale? Guess you've got your work cut out for you!" "Uhh I haven't even said yes yet" "You got it Elminster, I'll see to it that he explodes"
@@WolfheartFPS lol. Well if it's any consolation, it was during the end of Act 3, when you get that DC 99 check that I realized we got inspiration. Used all 4, got a nat 20 and still failed...lol
2:11:27 Yep, Guardian of Faith is a (4th level) D&D spell (it's pretty cool to see it implemented here)! It lasts for 8 hours (a cleric would typically cast it right before starting a long rest, which also lasts 8 hours), the guardian deals 20 radiant damage (on a failed Dex save) on a hostile creature that enters its area, and then disappears after dealing a total of 60 damage (so if anyone tries to attack you in your sleep, the guardian will automatically counterattack, as long as the enemy is in its 10 ft range). I'd never seen it as an enemy, since the one who casts it is usually the party's cleric.
I lockpicked the enchanted door and took out the Guardian of faith with ranged attacks through the doorway (If you don't move into it's area it doesn't attack).😉 Edit: You can probably shoot through the broken window too with the same result.
hey could I ask you a favour? maybe you heard of this but you can appearantly multiclass 1 level into wizard with any caster and gain access to learning their full spell list from scrolls, altough you can only learn spells up to the level of your highest spell slot and the spells will use INT for casting, what I'm wondering is if this also works with Warlock? and if Warlock would be able to cast these Wizards spells with Pact Magic spell slots?
I 'think' the level that you can learn and cast for is based on the class and not the characters level, so if you are level 1 wizard and level 5 fighter.. You only get level one wizard capabilities. But I do not know that for sure.
Please remember that 99.9% of humans that play a crpg, on their first full run will make mistakes / forget about new features etc. It is part of the experience.
Watching him forget about extra attack during the skeleton fight and end the turns was painful lmao
Yea I'm going to forget about a few things on this first run! Takes time to get out of the habit of only 1 attack for 1000 hours in early access 😆
haha id like to think the encounter with the birbs would probably have been handled better with magehand
I'm at episode 9 and now fully in the habit of getting up to actually grab a snack or put on the kettle every time you do a mid-episode pause and suggest it to the viewer :D
haha well thanks for watching! Enjoy your snacks
Hey look into GeForce now! You could play BG3 through that on your not so good PC
Cheers
She can also put bodies in other containers, incase you ever need to hide your evidence real guick
Elminster has an old face and very young hands... Suspicious. XD
The lotion always touches your hands... where it goes from there? 🎲 🎲 😂
I agree
Another..another..another I need more lol!
tomorrow 9 am EST!!
It hurts itself each time it does damage and can be attacked to reduce its duration.
you should use that mask to turn into the races you talk to. might help with your amazing dice rolling ability. hehe.
That is so weird. I got the Dawnmaster's crest without placing the weapons there. Don't know if it glitched or not.
The wall can be seen on a perception check and lockpicked!
Hey thanks! Godspeed to you on your first run.
Don‘t dismiss spike growth! It made the fight against the undead boring 😂. Was just trying to buy time with my ranger to get group in position, instead the undead killed themselfs trying to get to my group. In hindsight it was a chokepoint and it seemed they could not jump.
Love the content, was about to sleep but the adventure continues!
Great game, great content thank you
If you can sleep, you can play Baldurs Gate...
Her con adds to her ac if she is not waring armor plus her dex
I think Larian should patch in a +hit chance bonus on prone enemies.
As it makes sense that a zombie on his ass is easier to hit than a zombie on his feet.
If you start with 17 CHA consider actor for your lvl 4 feat. Also, you can hunger of hadar over hex to start so you can push enemies back into it. Hex gets more value as you get more beams.
Haven't gone to the Mountain Pass yet in my first run so going to come back to your playthrough later.
Been loving your lets play so far, keep up the good work and glad you're enjoying it!
1:32 oh man, for those watching late, those Gate Guardians are the cleanest way to kill the Spectator.
Okay, I haven't met Elminster in my game, as I went straight for the monestary / didn't really travel with Gale much, but he is all of a sudden my favorite character xD
Love you for another upload!!!
I want to take Halsin with me too but I don't want to drop Shadowheart, Gale or Karlach 🙈
a locked door and no one to pick it
My game REALLY wants me and Gale to be a thing, possibly due to early launch bugs.
Loving the playthrough and always look forward to when I have time to watch!
Not you wearing a hat that counts as armor and negating Unarmored Defense 🤣
Yup missed out on like 5 AC for a few hours until I noticed it :-D
New challenge: get one of those 12" tall Home Depot Halloween skeletons and dress it up as a Death Shepherd
i'm still waiting to see how many episodes it's going to take before you realize that you can use long strider on everyone in your party... lol
sometime in act 3 lol
@@WolfheartFPS lol. Well if it's any consolation, it was during the end of Act 3, when you get that DC 99 check that I realized we got inspiration. Used all 4, got a nat 20 and still failed...lol
Was I the only one that thought, "Don't forget to re-equip the gloves on Karlach."?
I lockpicked the enchanted door and took out the Guardian of faith with ranged attacks through the doorway (If you don't move into it's area it doesn't attack).😉
Edit: You can probably shoot through the broken window too with the same result.
hey could I ask you a favour? maybe you heard of this but you can appearantly multiclass 1 level into wizard with any caster and gain access to learning their full spell list from scrolls, altough you can only learn spells up to the level of your highest spell slot and the spells will use INT for casting, what I'm wondering is if this also works with Warlock? and if Warlock would be able to cast these Wizards spells with Pact Magic spell slots?
I 'think' the level that you can learn and cast for is based on the class and not the characters level, so if you are level 1 wizard and level 5 fighter.. You only get level one wizard capabilities. But I do not know that for sure.
The kobold drinking(?) sounds here we're viscerally unpleasant
I grenaded the place with alchemist fire out of principle alone
i'm 35 mins in and i'm begging you to pleaaaase use your extra attack!! You were literally wasting that I'm so sad T_T
Oh my god I so wasn’t ready for this second episode
Did you dry Counterspell? It's so good - I've got it on my warlock and wizard - it's almost a cheat when you just counter the enemies AoEs
Elminster isn't really a game thing he's a pillar of the forgotten realms in general.
Karlach looks really fun! I regret not taking her in my party. Always a next time tho
