People say it all make sense for the $100M and the Lakers. Perhaps this is a traditionalist view but what about loyalty to Karaban coming back and all the freshman / sophomore and two transfers he recruited the last 2 months who are on campus practicing right now. Throws the entire program into disarray with this timing, not a great way to leave UConn legacy (yes, after wining two national championships).

First off, I think John Fanta needs a national gig. Very good reporter. That said, I just think that the longer it takes , the more heartstrings are touched and eventually Hurley will stay at UConn (regardless of the $ offered). I'm a huge Laker fan and would love him to be the start of a great era of Laker basketball. Hope I'm wrong and eat crow.
Finally someone acknowledges that UConn does not have a championship contending roster. Yeah, yeah, Hurley proved them wrong TWICE.
Twice with Sanogo and Clingan. There’s simply no substitute for a rim protecting 7 foot offensive threat. Look at what Purdue did with Edey, UCLA with Alcindor and Walton. ANY coach will look good with guys of that caliber. That’s why Alabama and Duke are can’t misses this year.
As a Uconn fan, im pretty bummed if he does go to LA. But hey, he obviously is up for the next challenge and i can understand that. Just sucks tho. :-(
I am a Laker fan that wants Hurley or Reddick but don't think he will leave UConn. I think he's using the Lakers to get a bump in salary. Regardless of which coach we get Reddick or Hurley, I am happy. The one thing that I will not be happy with is the Lakers wasting a pick on Bronny. If another teams takes him & Bron wants to go there, so be it.
Why should Dan Hurley be obligated to draft Bronny James? Bronny should stay in a B level college, he couldn't hack it at USC. He's nowhere near an NBA level, G-League at best. The Lakers should think about the future and say no to nepotism!

Bronny isn't an NBA caliber player, period. He seems like a great kid, though he's only 6'1 and they'd been lying about his height for years. He doesn't have a handle, gets lost on defense, and is a five year project.

Lebron is 40. Hurley knows he's done in a year or two and is more worried about the 5 year plan and will only take the job if he likes the long term health of the Lakers provides him a winning situation.
When Kentucky was flirting with Hurley I knew he wouldnt take the job but I said UK should at least run up his salary so it bankrupts their athletic department and disrupts their momentum. I said that knowing the Big East doesnt have the SEC football money, didnt realize he school is a mess financially as well. Good info Fanta!

There's more to life than money. It's not like he's getting paid beans at UCONN. LA is throwing all this money at him, and then they'll get frustrated and fire him in two years. He was real vocal about his mental health in the past. He's finally in a good place, and he's willing to blow all that up for $. LA will mess him up.

Fanta is clueless. Hurley has hardly "maxed out" in college basketball. If he leaves, there's no way he will go down in the pantheon of greatest college coaches. He would only be the third-best coach from UConn. His current record can't touch John Wooden, Mike Krzyzewski, Adolph Rupp, Roy Williams, Jim Calhoun, Bob Knight, Dean Smith, John Calipari, etc.
