Speakeasy really lost a whale when Tompkins left, I swear half the commenters on EVERY one of these are just ranting and raving about him. And rightfully so, he is an underrated legend of a comedian.
Dfd Dfd That too. Soooo many things that could go wrong with someone as a kid, that you can't guarantee how well they'll end up being. Or healthy, for that matter.
People who say PaulFT has a fake laugh in these interviews A) have never seen him before, B) wish that they were relevant enough to have the pleasure of his company, C) do not have experience with true joy in their lives and don't know what it sounds like, or D) all these/some combo thereof.
Hello, This series is sublime, and an absolute bright spot of every Monday. The aesthetics and cinematography were beautiful as always, and every time I see the set it makes me long for a local drinking establishment just like it. If I could suggest any future guests, I'd love to see the illustrious Mr. Paul F. Tompkins sit down with the cast of "It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia" (I know he's already interviewed Caitlin Olson) in preparation for the new season. Paul has a great way with his guests, and I'd love to get to know more about Charlie, Rob, Danny, and Glenn. But, seeing PFT interview his friends really makes for an awesome viewing experience, and this episode was no exception. So, keep 'em coming, and keep up the amazing work all-around. Thanks for the laughs, and I'll see you next Monday, ~ Andy Jowett P.S. I'm currently wearing a three-piece suit that was inspired by the fashion stylings of PFT. And, it is because of this suit, that I believe I've just locked down a new job. So, needless to say, royalties will be paid by me in the form of my purchase of a MadeMan t-shirt, a MadeMan lunchbox, or perhaps a MadeMan pocket square. P.P.S. Yes. Definitely a pocket square. I seem to have run out.
So funny when Paul said, "One day at a time, like our friend Bill W. said"... then laughs at himself, since he's sitting at a bar where they drink alcohol and he's quoting the founder of AA.
I saw Sarah Silverman on the Oddball Comedy tour in Houston, and she was hilarious. Immediately went for abortion and god jokes right in the middle of republican-god country. I totally loved it hahahahah
You honestly get better bits and improv out of people than some of the material they use in their standup. Either you cut these interviews way the hell down or you've got some real charisma in working off of others to get these charming pieces.
i dont even know her stuff, i just clicked bc i thought "wait that name is familiar" and holy cow this person seems SO COOL! Very very pleasant and likable person :)) Need to get into her stuff
Because their lives suck and they're too lazy/cowardly to improve themselves. Being a jerk on the internet is an easy way to get attention. I do sincerely wish that they would work on themselves instead.
You may have chosen those words carefully, but that doesn't change that you used it incorrectly. "Let them eat cake" doesn't mean to just let people do whatever they want. It comes from Jean Jacques-Rosseau's autobiography in in the 1700's and then later supposedly said by Marie Antionette. It was a response to some one saying that the peasants are too poor to afford bread. And then she said' "If they can't have bread, then let them eat cake!" If was an emphatic statement that revealed her ignorance, coupled with her prodigal, blase lifestyle. So once again, that saying does not apply to what you are trying to say. However, if I am wrong and you somehow meant it in a way that coincides with what I have just said, then please let me know.
+Nephastus ROFLmancer agreed...watching her do interviews is like that friend you always take to the bar because the stories they tell are so much fun. :D
As soon as I saw the title of this show I thought 'oh like speaking easily' before you even began speaking. ;) And January 5th 1995 will be 20 years from now too.. another 20 year connection
lol deciding to have babies. oh goodness. people decide. my decision was slightly different... not much of one. 2 beautiful babies later it was the greatest thing I didn't plan
In the Army, a Section 8 is when someone is discharged from the Army for being "crazy", mental health issues. M.A.S.H. is a show about a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, and Max Klinger was a character in that show that would wear woman's clothing in an attempt to convince his superior officers that he was "crazy" enough for a Section 8.
Sarah is my 'famous' girlfriend. Yes, she is dating Michael Sheen, but when she comes to Portland, I am her "hall pass". Sorry, Sarah, the cat is out of the bag. :-)
I come back to watch this all the time. These interviews are some of the best stuff on the platform.
i miss him on Speakeasy, he is such a good host
A very likable and smooth host. Why did he leave
Just had too many projects and he needed to drop one, I gather.
Who is it now?
Russell Peters

Why is it always the best people who are hesitant about having kids? And all the worst people you know just shit them out constantly.
Ya, it's a shame. The world needs more PFTs.
Because they aren't simpletons, aka "animals"...They get what a kid means, needs, and what you give up to have one.
EUGENICS FTW!!!
Dfd Dfd That too. Soooo many things that could go wrong with someone as a kid, that you can't guarantee how well they'll end up being. Or healthy, for that matter.
she has clinical depression which is a debilitating disease and she doesn't want to pass it on to any offspring.

Yes! I love Sarah Silverman almost as much as I love Paul F. Tompkins. I'm in heaven
God, she's charming.
Someone find me that ginger ale! It looks so refreshing.
I saw Sarah Silverman on the Oddball Comedy tour in Houston, and she was hilarious. Immediately went for abortion and god jokes right in the middle of republican-god country. I totally loved it hahahahah
Love it, love it, love it, love it.
Please carry on carrying on.
Love it.
I love that they're friends irl, it's so cool
Great chemistry between these two. They need to do a show or a movie where they play brother and sister, or husband and wife, some thing like that.
His reaction to Obama's middle name is great
This is great. I always wished I was part of the Mr Show world. It would have been amazing being in that scene.
I love the abrupt cutting off of music. Wonderful job editor.
I. Love.
Paul. This guy. Oh man.
those little improvised/acting parts in between... just great.
those two have an awesome chemistry on screen.
one of the best episodes so far
If Paul got his own late night show on television, tv would no longer COMPLETELY suck.
“I like the idea of deciding to be with eachother each day” LOL!!!
Audio lagged for me in the RUclips app, but worked fine when I pulled the video up in my web browser.
"I don't wanna blow your mind." You can actually see her mind being blown.
one of the best yet!
"You don't plan on having kids, they just happen." Homer J. Simpson.
From a mile away you can still see how stoned they are.
You honestly get better bits and improv out of people than some of the material they use in their standup. Either you cut these interviews way the hell down or you've got some real charisma in working off of others to get these charming pieces.

shes good people, shes good people
+DragoDerRebellXD Sarah Silverman is the best person that ever happened!
Her artwork has been commended for being strongly vaginal.
Someone please make a GIF of PFT calling us idiots.
Sarah Silverman is awesome. Great interview.
We are friends again! HEY!
why is everyone so mean on youtube?
Because their lives suck and they're too lazy/cowardly to improve themselves. Being a jerk on the internet is an easy way to get attention.
I do sincerely wish that they would work on themselves instead.
Robert Davis being a jerk on the internet is better than being a jerk in real life so shut up and let them eat cake!
Kurt you definitely don't understand when to use that euphemism. lol it's ok. i'm not hating or anything.
i chose these words carefully sir. i understand plenty.

I love Sarah, so funny and seeing her in interviews, I like the way her mind works.
+Nephastus ROFLmancer agreed...watching her do interviews is like that friend you always take to the bar because the stories they tell are so much fun. :D
this show is great when pauls talking with a friend lol. good lord.
they're so funny together!
As soon as I saw the title of this show I thought 'oh like speaking easily' before you even began speaking. ;) And January 5th 1995 will be 20 years from now too.. another 20 year connection
great episode x)
6:00 Tompkins mansplains napping!
j/k they are both comics with history XD both are great/smart. Sarah was on the original Mr. Show run.
Legit LOL on the Shneider reference - you go girl!
I hope this show goes forever. Tompkins is a fantastic interviewer.
January 5th is my birthday!! And that's somewhat significant!! That's it me and Sarah are having kids..
....Dont ever watch this show when your thirsty....
haha, words. multiple meanings.
Sarah and Paul should just get married. I love this combination of comedians.
I just saw an episode of star trek voyager and silverman was in two episodes. IT was a nice surprise. She has not aged a day.
I love you both intensely.
Sarah is gorgeous and so determined, huge respect for her. And her voice.... Girl crush
So enamored by Sarah, seems like an amazing person.
Pat Harrington from One Day At A Time is not dead.
Well, he is now...2016
I love Sarah Silverman.
Come on Made man - lock it in with some Plural Eyes!
WOAH SARAH SILVERMAN IS 43?
I know right? It's like why are you still alive? Ya know? Like just keel over already. I'm glad someone else sees it like I do.
Mike J Uh... What?
Polerinn I was just agreeing with ya mate.
Mike J Not sure if you're serious or not.
Polerinn Well what did you mean by your comment?
paul really lit up for this one
F off silverman is hilarious and gorgeous
I did a search on my cable for One Day at a Time. :/ no dice in Ann Arbor Michigan.
Sarah silverman still has the most awesome laugh
Wouldn't that be awesome. The outro of the show is Paul and guest talking while the guest slowly fades out and disappears.
Pat Harrington (Jr.). Totally alive.
I made that connection!! :)
Why does this guy not have a late night show
sarah is just lovely
she is so beautiful
oh man i love her!
I like Paul F. Thompkins but he's wrong kids don't need naps. source: i was a child
Paul F. Thompkins didn't say that. Source: I watched at 6:03
I ain't never even heard about "one day at a time," much less syndicated
sarah silverman is someone you think is gonna be hilarious to watch and IS someone hilarious to watch hah
It took Sarah Silverman to figure out the Speakeasy thing? What's wrong with the rest of y'all comedians?
WOWOWOWOW I LVOE HER
comedic genius
I think Pat "Schneider" Harrington is still alive.
she seems super nice and very affable,so I likes her
funny interview
It's funny how we say "I'm sure he is" when we're not sure he is
"It Was A Babyyy!"
Hey Tompkins hen are you getting Martin Short , it's time and he's waiting for your call
lol deciding to have babies. oh goodness. people decide. my decision was slightly different... not much of one. 2 beautiful babies later it was the greatest thing I didn't plan
Pat Harrington (Jr), Schneider on One Day @ A Time, is not dead! Yet...
How much time have you spent talking about Mash Paul????
Most importantly how much damn time have I spent listening to you talk about Mash????
They had a thing for sure.
"Give him a section 8" Anyone have a clue what that means?
In the Army, a Section 8 is when someone is discharged from the Army for being "crazy", mental health issues. M.A.S.H. is a show about a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, and Max Klinger was a character in that show that would wear woman's clothing in an attempt to convince his superior officers that he was "crazy" enough for a Section 8.
Pat Harrington is still alive. He's 85. fyi
I had no idea how hard it would be to have a kid.
Cool, not only Church of Gail is pretending to have Brent Spiner as a boyfriend.
Pat Harrington lives! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Harrington,_Jr.
Snyder! The crazy super/handy man
43 !?!?!?
Paul F Tompkins > Silverman
that cocktail suits you
It's a fine interview, but Paul F really needs to stop with the fake laughter- which he even uses during the discussion of fake laughter.
Pat Harrington, Jr is alive
The white version of Neil degrasse Tyson... And his fake laughter kills me
Stupid is the new smart.
from rags to chicken.... #LifeGoals
speak hard
I do think Sarah is funny. She is always making faces, and always "on". She must be exhausting in real life.
if she said yes my wife would be mad were movin to utah
I could see Sarah with Data
Damn she looks good for 43.
Gorgeous, funny, and charming? Have my baby! :P
one day at a time?
Is it supposed to be super awkward?
6:06 look into the face of madness...
Sarah is my 'famous' girlfriend. Yes, she is dating Michael Sheen, but when she comes to Portland, I am her "hall pass". Sorry, Sarah, the cat is out of the bag. :-)
