    I heard the kefir eats most the sugar almost 90%, so not much sugar left anyway

    • @abelafonte
      @abelafonte 7 месяцев назад +5

      Correct. There is very little of the sugar left afterwards. It's been consumed and converted. Of course, how long it takes to get a nearly sugar-free drink depends on how long you ferment and how healthy your grains are. (Healthier = faster)

    PEOPLE!!!!! FEED YOUR GRAINS!!! You wouldnt expect to have a race horse, sled dog or pack mule and work them without feeding them would you??!!! You are feeding a colony of workers that are making you a healthy drink and their favorite food is SUGAR! Stop starving your organisms. They will take care of the sugar. By the way... for all of you who are soooo worried about the sugar... DONT research the process by which your helpful little organisms make kefir or you probably wont ever consume a fermented food again! ... just sayin'

    lassi or doogh are easy to make yogurt drinks full of probiotics and they don’t use sugar. Switchel is a pretty good drink as well and it uses honey or molasses. the bacteria feeds off of the sugar in kefir water or kombucha so if you want a less sugary drink let it ferment a little longer.

    While milk kefir does have more different probiotics, if you are lactose intolerant, or in my case, also have Ulcerative Colitis, milk kefir can be really bad for your gut. It really triggered my UC. But that was just because milk in general triggered the UC.
    I am in remission now, and have done so on a plant based diet.
    I make water kefir as a probiotic drink, and I have no issues with my gut now. Also, I make really small batches as to not overdo the sugar consumption, as sugar can be inflammatory. But in small amounts water kefir is awesome for gut health!

    • @chriskeith1980

      You don't need to put it in an airtight bottle at all if you don't care about carbonation.

    • @alireid5874
      @alireid5874 2 года назад +2

      Get fermentation lids and use Mason jars or open the top a few times a day to release pressure. Also make sure glass containers rated for carbonated drinks

    • @freshlyfermented9273
      @freshlyfermented9273  2 года назад +2

      It's very rare that the bottles will explode, but there are ways to avoid it! Using square bottles is a huge no no and such a common mistake people make, and on top of this, clip tops dont tend to be dangerous, but its so easy for it to over carbonate, if you dont have that opportunity to occasionally release a bit of gas out of the bottles!
      If you are still worried about using glass bottles that may explode, you can always use plastic bottles!

    • @Nicereview763

      I've now been using 500ml grosch bottles which say they can withstand a good psi and it's all be fine. I burp them at least once a day and feel fine about it now. Thank you for your replies though.

      If you’re concerned they’ll explode, maybe you have a busy lifestyle or are forgetful like me 😆 you can store the bottles in a bucket with a lid or an ice chest during the second fermentation ….

    Can you combine sugar and fruit puree for making water kefir ? Like if fruit puree can be used but is just not enough, would it be enough if we add like half the initial amount of sugar and replace the other half with fruit instead ? This would make us use less sugar and it could be enough if both are combined this way ?

      in a healthy home, water kefir grains multiply like rabbits on Viagra. It's ok to sacrifice some of them to any wild idea you may have (kefir based hot sauces are objectively bad... BTW) The dude making this video couldn't care any less about the culture he's trying to involve himself in. IMHO, He's just another grifter, just look at the distain on his face when he says the words 'Water kefir'...

      This is a good question. I'm still confused on all the probiotic drinks. I made and drank my own kombucha for at least a year and developed bacterial vaginosis. The kombucha created an imbalance in my body. I removed my homemade kombucha due to suspicion. I never made it again, but occasionally I would drink a bottle of store bought kombucha, which always brought on a light odor indicative of bacterial vaginosis. It always cleared up on its own, as long as I did not drink kombucha again. I think if I'd continued drinking kombucha, I'd have ended up in doc office and taking antibiotics. I've never known of anyone else having this issue, but I wonder if it's more common than just me...
