Hi Micro Thirds Users and Admires 😊I can't believe this is my most watched and engaged video. And I'm surprised by how many people use Micro Four Thirds, and how passionate people are about the system. I wish I could tell you that I'm still using Micro Four Thirds Cameras, but sadly I don't anymore. I did buy the GH6, which had everything going on for it, just not Phase Detect. Not because I needed Phase-detect, but I guess I assumed, when GH5 was Panasonic's break out Camera, you would expect, that the successor, would have fixed the only complain people had with the camera, which was the Auto-Focus. Since releasing the G9ii, there is still hope for the system, and it seems Panasonic is still invested in the system. I had pretty much all the lenses, as you can see in one of my videos, where I discuss the GAS Problem( Gear Acquisition Syndrome) I had with Micro Four Thirds. That has now been transferred to the Fuji X-system, which I now use, and seems to be comfortable with.
Do I miss the system? I think MFT is Amazing, and I think a lot of people are introduced to the world of photography and videography through the GH5 and G9, which are both still amazing cameras, which can be had at attainable prices. I tried something new, which is the Fuji x-system, and I seem to be comfortable with that, for now. The GX9, with the 15mm Leica Lumix, 25mm Olympus, and 45mm Olympus primes is simply Amazing. That fact that it has IBIS, and stellar image quality in that form factor is beyond me. I hope that they come out with a GX9ii, with a few more video features, and Real-Time Lut Feature, so you can emulate film, and get amazing Jpegs straight out of the camera, while also introducing Phase-detect. What the price of such camera would be I don't know, but that would be interesting!
I hope you enjoy this video, and i hope you are all well ♥︎

I just switched from fuji to Lumix and got the Gx9 with three lenses for a great price.
I don't understand why the evf is getting such hate. It works perfectly fine. And having the ability to tilt the evf is amazing when getting low shots in harsh light. Much easier to see (imo) than using the LCD. It also makes the experience quite fun and unique and makes me feel like I'm using one of those classic film cameras where you look down into the ovf.
Edit: it is also much faster to tilt the evf than to tilt the LCD. And i love that feature :)
I love the Gx9 and will hold on to it until it breaks 😅 (plus those tiny and cheap MFT lenses!)

I've the GX8 for video and long tele lenses, two things, Leica Ms not are great for. Panasonic is a great name into video shooting and my GX8 performs without any trouble. The EVF is a perfect feature to have when using a tripod. You can use the Lumix and no one will notice it. Its appearance is very touristic. On the negative side are the ergonomics. Too many keys on a tight spot. But in general one of the best MFT cameras out there.

I'm surprised you didn't find the rotatable EVF on the GX9 useful. I think it's the single greatest feature of the camera. Here's why:
    1. Rotate the EVF so you're looking down into it. The camera body is held close in to the core of your body in this stance. This is steadier than with the camera held up to the eye. This is _much_ steadier than with the camera at arm length with the LCD panel.
    2. It provides another viewing option for difficult lighting conditions.
    3. It is easier to focus with when using MF lenses, especially with focus peaking enabled.

You really don't need to buy an add-on grip. The focus is fine for photography. You can us the half-press and ELF presence to focus very fast. There are several focus modes, so experiment. Even with the 12-60 mm zoom, the camera is OK for street and it is a great travel option. (I prefer the more expensive Leica version of the 12-60, but it is slightly larger and heavier than the base Lumix version.) My street lens is the 15mm Leica f1.7 for the optical quality. The Vivid profile is indeed excellent, but I shoot RAW-JPG with Vivid for a nice catch all. Also don't rule out the LMonochrome for interesting B&W work in the street. This camera is developing a following, and once you use it for a while, you will find out why.

I recommend this six year old camera. I just purchased a GX9 with the kit 12-60mm lens. I went to NYC last week with the PL15mm lens but never took the 12-60mm lens off the body. What a surprise.
I have no desire for full frame. I also use Fuji. The GX9 is small and light. Put the PL15mm lens on this body and you have a very small footprint. Not as small as the GRiii but small and light enough to carry around all day without a problem.
I enjoyed having the compensation knob on the top plate vs the GX85 where a dial has to be pushed in to get to this feature. I LOVE the L monochrome D film simulation. It is better than the Fuji Acros with the red filter. I also like the vivid setting for color. These are my C1 and C2 settings. I like the image quality produced from this body.
Some have complained about the EVF being too small. I found it is more than adequate to frame my images. The fact it tilts is OK but I seldom move it to an angle to the top plate. I love that this body has a touch LCD screen. This can be done with most touch screens but I LOVE setting the touch screen to autofocus and then shoot feature. This is so convenient when doing street photography. The video is very good for a photography centered body. The IBIS works well for stills or video. There is dual stabilization for additional stabilization with certain lenses including the kit 12-60mm lens. Hooray for the tilting screen. Why Panasonic doesn’t include an audio in jack on its small bodies makes me angry. Making the GX9Mii Weather sealed body would be a nice improvement.
The depth from defocus works well for photography. It is fast and accurate. In video mode the DFD isn’t sticky and lets this body blown. I hope the phase detection on the chip will be incorporated into the next iteration of this camera.
This is a very powerful little camera and I would recommend it highly. It is very good when used for street or travel. It is also, with a small prime, a very good every day carry camera that easily fits into a jacket pocket. I hope this body receives a few improvements with a new iteration.
Please don’t sell your GX9. You will regret it.

The Panasonic focus is fast, and accurate, as in locked in no time! This is an awesome street shooting camera. GX-9 is the best MFT street shooter camera. The Lumix is a classic range finder style and looks great in black. The professional black color. The color is fine, and Olympus and Lumix / Leica lenses render well.

Na, you can't say MFT is anything but awful, and it's always full frame or bust. Jokes aside, the GX85 is also worth looking at with a cheap price point but solid enough build, and they take great stills (it's 16mp, but that sensor is still solid, I've got a lot of 11x14's and even bigger out of the 16mp mft bodies that came out great). TBH, I think the GX85 will be a classic down the line with a following, just as the E-M10 Mark II is gaining now. The E-M5 Mark II is also another affordable and amazing body for MFT on a budget.

The GX9 is only an incremental improvement over the GX85. Both are super cameras. The GX8 is a little bigger and heavier but is worthy of a look. 20MP sensor. IBIS. Audio jac (why doesn’t the GX85/9 have one?), flip out screen (I don’t like), weather sealed. For some reason IBIS doesn’t work for video. Solution use a stabilized lens. Also shutter slap @ ~ss1/200. Bought for $400 at the local camera store.

I am not sure. The price could be a factor, since the GX9 in certain places might be overpriced, and the gx8 can be had for a really great deal ,which makes it a lot more appealing. There might be some features as well, that might be unique to the camera though, but I'm not entirely sure what those are. Thanks for watching :)

This camera is not one to come up on the used market often, i have been looking for one for a while, second i set all my cameras to the natural color profile, the reason is that I photograph so many different subjects and I can post process the files to my liking depending on the subject that I am photographing and the look I want to achieve, if I'm going to print the photo i can adjust the file to the type of paper i will use to make my print.
