Shoutout to 3D Realms for sponsoring this video :) What would you guys rate Tempest Rising on a scale of 1 to 10? The demo is playable for everyone until February 3rd, check it out here : sbx.gg/tempestrising-uthermal Current demo is to test multiplayer and skirmish but the game will also have two full campaigns ^^ Thanks for watching and have a great day!
@@TheOriginalElkstone I don't know, he tells you right off. It's not a commercial message, like an ad, but more of a paid review and he tells you about that construction. You see this more often that they just include the message about being sponsored in the video itself. I think it's allowed when you do it like that.
I was watching this on my TV until Thermy said that this is his first sponsored video. Then I turned off the TV, returned to my laptop to say this: THIS IS SO COOL! People who work hard and who make others happy deserve to be paid. So please do those, we'll never doubt you, but we'll just be so happy for knowing you have some additional income, that's always awesome. And now I'm going back to my TV.
This is awesome, Marc! Some of my favorite memories I have from youth is playing countless hours of C&C, RA and SC. I've been waiting decades for a new (good) C&C, looks like my wait is finally over. Thanks for posting this, Thermy. Cheers!
Boy howdy did I play a lot of Red Alert!! I always played red... I think, they made the big slow tanks, right? Devastators? ... That was my jam.... LAN party with friend on our very slow PS1's.... haha
uThermal getting some of his own cheese flavored medicine from the AI is was peak entertainment! Looking forward to seeing more of your coverage on this eventually - it definitely brings to mind C&C 3 in a good way
For early game macro with GDF (assuming it works similar to C&C), you can build and then sell refineries early game to get the extra harvester. You can probably have at least 2 harvesters per refinery and still maintain efficient harvesting
You know, it would be a good UI upgrade to have each sub-panel in the build menu flash when you have a unit ready or construction paused. uThermal manages to not notice he paused his last technician in production and wastes minutes of time because of it. This would help avoid such situations, especially because he already had a similar issue with buildings during the first game.
I am looking forward to this game finally releasing for years. Its great so see it get some attention by such great content creators like you. Maybe there will be some more content of it here?
Glad to see Tempest Rising hasn't been quietly canned, I've been looking forward to this coming out for a while now. That Frank Klepacki soundtrack is 🧑🍳💋
One thing I've noticed that StarCraft does better than ANY other rts is the visual distinction between races/factions. It seems very difficult to tell the difference between the factions at a glance in this game, and many others. StarCraft design makes it incredibly super easy to immediately know the difference between zerg protoss and Terran. Still seems like a great game, but I do wish there was more definitive and obvious visual differences between the factions.
It's a problem with these realistic RTS. There is no real way to design it. Even his own troops, due to the sizes/scale, rocket troops look so similar to other troops. This game has a lot of problems and I wish he didn't claim it is the best RTS we have never heard of... It's a generic RTS.
They did release a demo of the campaign some time last year, just a couple of missions. From what I played, it was pretty solid. Similarly to the skirmish maps there were lots of different routes to physically move through, and the maps were pretty well-designed.
This looks very entertaining. Once you get a good grasp of the units and what they do and what buildings do what; You can start cooking up some shenanigans'.
Looks amazing, all the mechanics of RA2 expanded and more. I do miss the colour and style RA2 the units portaits and maps, but this is worthy of the title suscesor.
If you highlight a unit or building it will tell you how much your modifiers are changing your build time. It will say -6 seconds when in distribution mode for example or it will say + if you are in low power.
from the start of it brought back memorys... my very first game i ever played was command and concer red alert! i used to play it with my grandmother, it was infact the last thing i ever did with my grandma before she passed away in her sleep... makes me kinda sad seeing this but also happy...
Have you ever heard of or even played Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3? Very old RTS and, as far as I know, actually one of the reasons SC became so good. Unfortunately it's never been remastered. I loved playing it in my childhood.
Can you do a challenge where you try to beat people while only being able to have 1 of a unit on the field at a time? Like you can have 1 marine 1 marauder, 1 liberator, etc, and if the 1 marine dies you can remake it, but you can't make multiple of any unit. Love the videos by the way!
some issues in the game: - enemies should be have a more different color design to distiguish from the own units, like a red health bar or similar - you have sometimes difficaulties to find you units, maybe a sidebar of units, with jump marks could be nice - you mostly drive into the "mineralfield" what harms your units, marking waypoints could help or somthing like a all unit upgrad to avoid go into this fields
1:04 amen drone operators and riot vans were my favourite combo, the operators are safe in the van while they use the drones i think tempest is way stronger too, mainly because of the workers and how much easier to micro they are, and just about all of their buildings have an attack like orks in dawn of war.
This is totally command and conquer. The "Rocket Truck" from C&C Generals was annoyingly effective then as it is now in this iteration. Garrisoning buildings was a really good mechanic, I'm glad they kept that in. The AI using the capture mechanic way more than it should was always there. I mean to the point where they would send 1 unit at a time to capture things was always funny. But it seems they have made it deadly in this new game. Excited to see more of this!
Hey Marc! :) WoW! I didnt expect this game to be actually really good & ok. I just thought it was a simple CC copy, where units just simple insta die & thats it + some nice scene intro/movies between the mission/Story? I didn't knew this game have a Vet xp system for the units, that´s truly awesome, that means we can really got attached to some favo units! :D And we can auto repair them. Air attack fly on a mission, harash etc etc. Goes home & repair & perhaps rearm? And flying out again. Really nice! :) I didn't even knew that some units have some kind of there own specialty feature, not at least, the cool Doctrine lvl up system page that you showed to us, that is really cool & nice. RTS players like such things. Another thing that is pretty important, units actually lasting longer in life a bet longer, this give us the game play of what you guys do in SC2. That gives the player a longer lasting dance game play, especially with the flying units that you showed us & used the off area mountains/safezones, by hovering init! :D ( really nice to see that Buggy cars cant kill the tanks so fast at all, due to tighter armor. I wonder if the system have more Front Armor then sides & rea? LIke Company of Heroes games had. Really nice to see diff speed & diff range for many diff units in this game. :) Anyway, I must admit, it´s really promising for matches & such. Also really nice that there are building out there on the map. Like CC Generals or else of the old RTS´s, that can be taken over. :) Thank you Marc for showing & explaining & thanks to the sponsors, may you have a great day! :) BR AN.
I was wondering about the crush mechanic, in C&C3 you can crush lighter tanks with walkers and heavy tanks, gives a more tactical aspect and there body blocking doesn’t work
I have high hopes for this game! Remember that you can rotate buildings as you place them by using mouse wheel. That's good for GDF's refineries as you can minimise harvester travel time☝️🙂
Has uThermal ever played "Universe at War: Earth Assault" or "Metal Fatigue"? I'd love to hear his views on two RTS games I loved as a kid. Man...I gotta get around to downloading UaW again. I loved the aliens that called down the buildings with crop circles!
Both Campaigns first missions were pretty great nearly a year ago. Had that role play interactivity before missions with some great cinematic feel then for the gameplay pretty standard fair design wise (for a early campaign mission) but fun gameplay.
I think as Dynasty is best to expand earlier after you got two Rigs on your main, given you don't wanna mine yourself out if they deny your expansions since you committed to booming. Edit: You can also like RA3 unpack your MCV so you dont have to be so slow taking expansions as GDF.

Bland and souless CnC ripoff. Horrible unoptimized as well. Dont give them your money for a cash grab.

Here Here! Thermy deserves it!
pretty much the same over here :D Imagine Thermy getting a stable income from his sponsorings and putting it towards his SC2 2v2 tournaments =D
145k subs dude he is making enough money compared to real working population..
u mean switched to laptop with adblocker 🤣🤣🤣
Command & Conquer, is that you? xD
"New Construction Options - Building"
Yep that's CnC alright!
32:15 Looks like a Nod Obelisk to me...
Hope they have copyright issues figured out.
Yeaaaaa
@@DanteVerde-pt9zc they even got heavy metal music in it, yesss
I miss the old command and Conquer games, I am glad there is a worthy successor.
The flame tank/black hand attack animation from cnc3 is still the best flamethrower animation of all RTS, a decade after it came out

just want to say love the vids when you checkout different RTS titles. Also congrats on the sponsor!
totally awesome vid thanks man, the one rts i've been waiting for since first demo dropped
been waiting for this game actually, had it wishlisted forever

The Game just Needs To Brighten the Colors to tell Unit Differences
With Colors and maybe Brighter Graphics it'll be better
Probably will have a 3rd faction like Scrin in C&C 3 . This game does look like C&C 3
@@zilalibayan6030 Yeah, they have gone too shy on the brightness for units, especially infantry
Yeah unit clarity is one of the linchpin of unit designs in RTS
already on my wishlist looks incredible this game.
Very impressive game I have to say, looks very polished and figured out. Does this have a big following, any significant developers working on this?
By the title I fully expected some weird fast mass Tempest cheese, LOL
I love to see you playing other RTSs for a change, cool stuff
Hey I was just playing the demo tonight. I liked it overall, pretty hyped if it has a good campaign. Definitely recommend giving the demo a whirl.

I 100% heard of this game. It's been in my steam wishlist since April 18th 2023. I been waiting and waiting for it.

Red aler with eye or sauron tower. Very nice.

Definitely gave me nostalgia of C&C. I'm going to inspect this one out.
Played the demo about half a year ago - very excited about this. Absolutely TibSun vibes)
Tibsun is best setting in a RTS. Always feels like your fighting over a dead land.

Would love to see Uthermal play some CNC tiberian sun or red alert 2
I have this in wishlist for sooo long. Glad things are moving.
Lots of features from C&C Generals (power, no map for GLA, reactor overcharge for the US, neutral buildings...)
All of those are also RA2 features.
No map until you put up a Comms Center is from the original game.

I had this amazing game on wishlist for a while and i am very happy that we will get a new C&C in 2025 that it is actually worth playing.
Hey uthermal , not sure if someone already told you but you can rotate buildings with the scroll wheel when placing it.

tempest rising, eternal empire, war slide etc

Super fun!

Uh, I didn't even have that on my radar anymore. Let's pray that it will have fully customizable hotkeys.
