Thanks for another great re-cap; you're commentaries are always excellent and thought-provoking.
First off, to your question about a possible second season: there's a lot of mixed feelings about that from other fans of "Dark Matter." Some folks think this season was flawless, and the odds of being able to repeat the quality and excitement and great storylines is very unlikely--so end it on the high note. I'm kinda in that camp.
That said, I like where you were going: if there is a second season, it should be about Amanda and Ryan1. Do they want to return to Ryan's previous world (which, unbeknownst to them, is infested with Jasons), or stay in Empathy World? Do they decide to be "Travelers' Aid"--and use their skills & knowledges to assist "universe travelers" to find THEIR way, either back home or to a new life like Jason1/Daniela/Charlie? That could be interesting.
Now, to some of the problems I had with the finale. To me, they should have combined the last two episodes into a two-hour finale. That would have been a more satisfying wrap-up, because it wouldn't have forced the viewer to "make jumps of imagination" on HOW certain details came about. Specifically...
Resolving the scene with Blair, Evil Jason, and Bar/Scar Jason1--who had beat the hell out of Evil Jason. It seems to me that the show edited the ending of the scene, after Blair maced Bar/Scar Jason1, got the gun, and asked "what the hell is going on." This is a critical scene because SOMEHOW Evil Jason was let loose, and given the tracking code to Blair's car. But the viewer can only imagine that Evil Jason was able to convince Blair to help him. Again, How? IMO, this is just sloppy.
You've already mentioned that Evil Jason's conversion to Not-So-Evil-Jason was unconvincing, so I won't say any more than I agree. And, again, this is sloppy storytelling.
The final, and most important, plot-weakness in the finale IMO, is the Jason Clones allowing Jason1 Prime to leave with Daniela & Charlie.
I believe a scene of ALL the Jason Clones--having figured out that Daniela & Charlie would be coming to the Box--together, waiting and discussing/fighting among themselves over WHAT to do, would have been exciting to watch.
A variation on this Jason1 Clone scene could have been the clones NOT accepting Daniela's decision--and when Jason1 Prime/Daniela/Charlie arrive, all the clones rush them, and try to physically grab Daniela & Charlie, to be with them.
It would be a chaotic & violent scene--with Jasons everywhere; and Daniela & Charlie & Jason1 Prime all being bruised & battered before calm is restored...and the group, not wanting Daniela & Charlie to be harmed more/killed, agree to let them go with Jason1 Prime into the Box. That would have been an emotional roller-coaster for the viewers to end this season.
Those are my thoughts. Thanks, again, for your recap/reviews.

It means a lot, man. THANK YOU! It has been a blast talking about this show.
It's funny, I didn't even think about the Blair not having a resolution until I turned the camera on and was about to discuss that part. In real time I also thought that was very messy.
I've said my piece on the quick about face of Jason 2. Just needed to start that transition a bit ealier.
The Jason's letting them pass...yeah, I'm torn. I get it from the point that Daniella's happiness and Charlie's safety trumps theirs...but then why did the car accident occur in the last episode if that was their thought. I can buy that all these Jason's have empathy, but something has to get them to that point.
I'm 50/50 on a second season. The only reason I'm okay is because the original author is a writer. Were he not involved, I would say, let's end here on the upswing.
