This thing is one of the best 10.3, imo tied with the German and Russian 10.3 Mig-21s. Glad to see it covered, it gets slept on too much. Regarding rate fights, the combination of the second best energy retention (in the US tree) combine with its turning capability means it can win a horizontal rate fight against nearly any plane in the game. This advantage is mitigated at higher altitudes and in vertical rate fights, in the vertical it will actually lose to Mig-21 MFs and SMTs. It can also technically win a low speed nose position dogfight with the Mig-21s w/ combat and landing flaps, but thats very skill dependent. If the 21 isn't playing with mouse alone it'll be a very difficult fight.

The F8E is my baby. I tend to play this as a mid alt flanker in an up tier and basically a maneuverable phantom in a down tier. Incredibly aggressive in my down tier play style and I have had very high success. I only carry the 2 and 2 missile preset in EC or a downtier.
the reason for the AIM-9C/D/G leading so much is because of it's speed and how long the booster lasts. since it is a long range missile. basically what the long burn time causes is the missile to overcorrect for lead because it's constantly accelerating. this also has the adverse affect where if the AIM-9D/G (AIM-9C is radar so isn't effected too much) is fired within about 2kms will overcorrect, try to correct the overcorrect and then miss

I've had the F8E unlocked for a little bit but ive never used it and I just cant get the aim9c / radar to work anything that I could be doing wrong? ive tried pretty much every angle

It seems that not many people realise it also has IRST, not really useful in rb but in sim it's really good
what i don't understand is why this plane doesn't have a RWR when its a later version compared ot the U2 that has RWR
aiming distance infinite and no vertical + remove "New 20 mm cannons" mod = this plane becomes a stupid shotgun. its shooting pattern is a cone, so just aim poorly and always get a hit in 700-800 meters range

@@Jsaint07 it's absolutely random tbh, sometimes it rips, sometimes not in same condition. But when u close to the ground, the chances to rip wing of is higher.
