  • Life is back on the broads and it’s amazing to see so many boats out and people enjoy their holidays. Great to meet so many people today as well for a laugh and a good chat.

    We had 2 lovely holidays on the Broads, and I remember you had to get permission to go under Potter Heigham bridge.

    That's us! 3.30 ish . On the way back, we had to wait for a boat to be released from wedging itself tight under the bridge, nightmare - I said I'd bet you'd love that 😆
    This weekend, we've been mainly rescuing grounded boats and reluctantly accepting champagne and money! I can't believe no one stops to help these days... (we do it to help not get paid)

      @@jonnytreehouse in truth, I am getting tired of the heat and can’t wait until autumn starts. Autumn and spring are perfect here, unfortunately, winter and summer perhaps not so much. But that’s just how I find living here. In Kellyville, which is a north western suburb of Sydney about 35 kilometres from the CBD the winter temperatures in the mornings can get down to 1or 2 degrees, I might as well be living in the UK when that happens. I am sorry to hear that the weather was wet on the day of filming, even when you were on a boat. Hopefully Monday will be better.

    I don't know how these people manage to get stuck. All boats have the air draft clearly marked at the helm. All the bridges have clearance boards indicating the space available. If your air draft is greater than the clearance you will not fit through. All that is lacking is common sense!
    Great video - glad you caught the bridge strike!

  • @seanlock2619
    @seanlock2619 6 месяцев назад +5

    Herbert Woods give the air draught for Gleaming light as 8ft10” your footage shows the bridge marker displaying just under 8ft when they attempted to pass under the bridge even allowing for the tolerance built into the two different figures to attempt to go under the bridge is pure stupidity and shows total lack of respect .

  • @williamstrachan
    @williamstrachan 5 месяцев назад +1

    Oh heck, hope the water level is a bit lower for my trip in June. Barnes Brinkcraft Regal Star, listed as 8'8 - I saw a Duet go through (8'4) but then the boat that got stuck is listed as 8'10. The height gauge seems pretty pessimistic, showing just under 8', so at least if I can see the 8' line I'll be secure I guess? Maybe we'll have to tactically top up the water tank 😂
