- Life is back on the broads and it’s amazing to see so many boats out and people enjoy their holidays. Great to meet so many people today as well for a laugh and a good chat.
We had 2 lovely holidays on the Broads, and I remember you had to get permission to go under Potter Heigham bridge.
Fabulous, you are lucky to get under Potter Heigham bridge these days!
That's us! 3.30 ish . On the way back, we had to wait for a boat to be released from wedging itself tight under the bridge, nightmare - I said I'd bet you'd love that 😆
This weekend, we've been mainly rescuing grounded boats and reluctantly accepting champagne and money! I can't believe no one stops to help these days... (we do it to help not get paid)
Brilliant, I help all the time but the camera isn’t recording when I do, enjoy the champagne you deserve it!
wow , there was some very close calls lol , i did'nt that woodie would get through , it was very tight , i could'nt believe it when i saw that HW stuck under the bridge , Ouch , hope it did'nt do too much damage , it was a very busy day today , i dread to think what it'll be like in the big holidays . it was a brilliant vid today . 👍
Thanks, it was lovely and busy, just gutted the boat got stuck, the hit made me jump out of my skin. Had a break from filming and spent a day on a boat owned by a mate
Thanks Jonny I thought it would be busy this week good to see lots of boats out again. It was nice to have the extra lot on Friday as well
Thanks ☺️
So nice to see boat's out. ❤
It’s wonderful so see life again!
Thats well scary at least they got some help. You need to be so careful. 🚤⚓️🚤⛵️
Looking very busy now, we were on the broads last week till Saturday lovely and peaceful. We came through ludham hoping to catch you but unfortunately not. Keep the footage coming.
Thanks ☺️
The river has finally come back to life. The first weekend of the season and you are there to catch the boat which did not make it under the bridge..OUCH!
It was sad to see, always know your air draft!
The clowns are coming out to play
Great insight in to how the river cruises works lovely.
Thanks Chris!
Thank you Jonny for another video showing a much busier river. I hope that you are having a really enjoyable Easter break. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you, sorry it was later this time as the clocks went forward last night
@@jonnytreehouse no worries! Your video was there when I woke up. It’s almost eight o’clock and I’m still in bed! It’s 16 degrees going to 31 degrees Celsius and sunny 🌞 today. Thank you again.
@scottlewisparsons9551 don’t tease me with temperatures lol, it was chilly today and then started raining. I was on a boat today as well, getting water when the rain started
@@jonnytreehouse in truth, I am getting tired of the heat and can’t wait until autumn starts. Autumn and spring are perfect here, unfortunately, winter and summer perhaps not so much. But that’s just how I find living here. In Kellyville, which is a north western suburb of Sydney about 35 kilometres from the CBD the winter temperatures in the mornings can get down to 1or 2 degrees, I might as well be living in the UK when that happens. I am sorry to hear that the weather was wet on the day of filming, even when you were on a boat. Hopefully Monday will be better.
I forget your seasons are opposite to ours. I’d love to visit Australia though, my sister went and loved every second of it
I didn't know about these fancy wide cannel boats. I have been watching the narrow boats channels.
I love Norfolk and if this is the only drama we have, I'm happy with that 🙂
Absolutely!
Thanks Johnny
You are welcome. I love seeing boats back on the river
I don't know how these people manage to get stuck. All boats have the air draft clearly marked at the helm. All the bridges have clearance boards indicating the space available. If your air draft is greater than the clearance you will not fit through. All that is lacking is common sense!
Great video - glad you caught the bridge strike!
Thanks ☺️
Herbert Woods give the air draught for Gleaming light as 8ft10” your footage shows the bridge marker displaying just under 8ft when they attempted to pass under the bridge even allowing for the tolerance built into the two different figures to attempt to go under the bridge is pure stupidity and shows total lack of respect .
Oh heck, hope the water level is a bit lower for my trip in June. Barnes Brinkcraft Regal Star, listed as 8'8 - I saw a Duet go through (8'4) but then the boat that got stuck is listed as 8'10. The height gauge seems pretty pessimistic, showing just under 8', so at least if I can see the 8' line I'll be secure I guess? Maybe we'll have to tactically top up the water tank 😂
We went under this twice last week going to and coming from Stalham, the measuring post said we wouldn't fit but we tried and made it under with probably a couple of inches room!
What air draft were you?
@@jonnytreehouse it was the commander, I believe it was 8’ 2”
@@jonnytreehouse Do you think there is a problem with silting up?
Why would you not have someone at the stern as a checker to let the driver know if it was clear or not. Sorry but that was an avoidable mistake.
Hi John, that boat was really stuck. It’s scary mate.
It really was stuck, but the guy from Ludham Bridge yard got them out thankfully, it’s a case of knowing how high you boat is before attempting a bridge
@@jonnytreehouse I would have been devastated, I think people just don’t understand. You’re getting spotted all the time now John. 👍
I was just thinking to myself that some of the boats were getting a bit close to the underside of the bridge when you said you heard a nasty noise........ Am I clairvoyant?
All the boats going under had plenty of room it was unfortunate that boat hit
Some people just need to stay on dry land 😂😂
😂
About five guys standing g on the back of the boat would have helped free it. 🙂
His great grandfather was the captain of the Titanic 😂😂😂
Did you see Commodore go through over Easter ?
I might have, I need to check my footage
Hi,will be here next month, has the cafe reopened does anyone know.
It’s a bakery now
Why don't they just slow down? Mad Ikes
That dude must of been inspired by the recent news. What a way to ruin your boat
Yeah but at least he didn’t need a 1000 tonne floating crane to solve the problem. Lol 😂
I don't think most of these people are fit to be in charge of boats they have no intelligence whatsoever...like many drivers in the roads same thing...they don't need a licence ? Maybe they all need to take lessons then a test before they go boating ??
@@Silverdale15 haulover inlet in miami has the most incopetent boaters in the country
@@FloridaMarlinWrangler I don't get it it's a road but jade of water you need to know what your doing I've been in the broads it's stressful as your at the mercy of everyone else not sure i liked it that much if I'm honest...
@@Silverdale15 it’s probably a bit like sailing on Sydney harbour in the summer weekends. In NSW if you are going to skipper a boat capable of more than eight knots you need to sit a test for a boat driver license.
