I love your tutorials and videos. You are so concise and don't waste the time showing the sewing part. Just excellent. thanks so much. I made lots of Christmas bags this year and instead of using wrapping paper I used the bags and my grandchildren loved them. LOVE YOUR PATTERNS!!! Kathy
Hi Whitney. Beginner here. Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. They are easy to follow and I like there are some easy and short ones to get me started. ....cheers.
Hey Whitney! I’ve just made a heavy duty version of this bag to keep my husband’s new pickleball paddle safely tucked inside. I used scraps of fabric (an old fleece, some curtain interlining & spare curtaining fabric), I had matching thread & contrasting cotton twill ‘ribbon’ in my stash. He’s thrilled with it & I’m feeling immensely proud! Thank you so much. Caroline
Thank goodness for this video because my sister asked me to make her a big bunch of bags like this of all sizes for her. She plans on using them to put gifts in instead of using wrapping paper!
Love your video's. I grew up playing with the sewing machine on summer breaks and made tons of the draw-string and non-draw-string tote bags, dresses, tops, and jean bag purses from bottoms of old pant legs and gave them to friends. We couldn't afford new material so I used old clothes, blankets, etc (except for dresses which had new material). Learned a lot in 4-H about everything around the home (such as sewing, cooking, proper way to make a bed). Its so sad that so many adults and kids know nothing about crafting. My whole family sends me things to repair when needed which does make me feel appreciated. :o)
Thank you soooooo much Whitney! First time trying a bag (only had my machine a month) and completely self taught by lovely people like you on you tube! Thanks again xxx
I'm thinking of making one of these for my grandson to put some of his toys in when he goes visiting. As always, your video is very easy to understand. Thanks!
I’ve commented b4 on this video but I love this bag so much that it deserves another mention! I’ve made this bag for so many different occasions and items not just Christmas and every time I make it, I can’t believe I made it and how professional it looks! Thank you again!
These bags are such a great idea! And so simple to make. I am going to make some for my son to hold his various computer doodads that he currently has spread all over his desk. And I can use some of my scrap fabric to make them too.
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I must make little bags to hold handmade gaming dice with designer cards for a Arts & Design Company. Thank you
Thanks so much Whitney for this very cute drawstring bag. I love watching your videos and always learn something new despite having been a seamstress for many, many years. I truly appreciate your efforts to make sewing easy and doable for everyone.
I have made a few of your drawstring bags now and I love each one of them!! Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions!! You make me feel like I’m a sewing expert!! 😉
Thank you! That shirt is on I made recently using a 1960s pattern. Here's the video if you want to watch it :) ruclips.net/video/rSKy0IONvhM/видео.html
Thanks Witney. I made several of these bags in different colors and sizes. They are so useful to keep chargers, batteries, keys etc. I love them. The constrasting casing is definitely a must !😍
Thank you so much for this video. I really like the separate casing and lining so there are no raw edges. I also want to combine this idea with your boxed bottom bag. I plan to put my knitting project in it when it's done.
This is great! Never saw this type of separate casing before. It looks very professional and neat, especially with the lining. I've loved drawstring bags for a while now, but you have just upped my game by tenfold!
Wow you explained everything great. Even on your site you explain how to resize the bag great as well. Thank you so so much. Need to master top stitching think its 1/8 inch.
Yay! Thanks so much for this tutorial AND for the hint that two soaps fit nicely! I grabbed 6 soaps from BBW sale this last week to divide among my 3 kid’s teachers along with one of these bags for Christmas! Thanks again :)
I just want to let you know how much I enjoy your youtube postings. I dont know how I ever found you but love all your videos. I made my granddaughter who is 4 a head scarf. Since I had a lot of fleece I made her a little drawstring bag to match. So cute. Do you have any ideas for easy and practical pieces made with scraps of leather? Thanks Whitney.
Awesome and easy! Love the ribbon. Endless possibilities for these bags. Would like to see an easy way to make a lined zipper bag that has small divided mesh pockets inside to hold essential oils or nail polish bottles. Just a small bag that has 3 to 5 slots on each side. There are lots out there but none that give very good details. Hope this makes sense!! Would love to see how you would make one of these. I just love how you create bags and things. Hugs! 🤗🤗🤗
Hello there i am awaiting my first sewing machinecaged 52 will be doing inebof your bags as first project git your lunk frim a facebiik sewing site u make ir liik simole but i am sure thats down to excellent sjkills and teaching thank u sooo much for the inspiration xxx
Thank you so much for posting this! It's exactly what I was looking for. I'm definitely going to make a couple with a boxed bottom so I can hold my knitting projects :)
It really would be nice to see the same tutorial with a small addition of how/when to add boxed corners at the bottom. I know it's simple, but it's confusing my brain to figure out just exactly which step it goes between and how to do it. Or a round or oval bottom, if that were possible.
You would sew the sides and bottom of the outer and lining (still leaving the opening for turning), box the corners, sew the casing to the top, insert the outer in the lining and sew around the entire top :) Hope that helps!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!. Exactly what I was looking for. You are awesome!!!!!!!!🥰💛💚💖💖💖
Yay! So glad you love it! I enjoyed figuring out how to make it :)

Hello from Columbia, SC. Love your bags going to make one for my granddaughter. I would like to see you make one for a five year old.
I make bags for my kids the exact same way.
These bags are such a great idea! And so simple to make. I am going to make some for my son to hold his various computer doodads that he currently has spread all over his desk. And I can use some of my scrap fabric to make them too.
Great idea! I've been making tons of bags lately to use up scraps and better organize my kids' things.
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I must make little bags to hold handmade gaming dice with designer cards for a Arts & Design Company. Thank you

What drawstrings are best for a bag that will be washed alot? Love your video's!🧡
The 30 minute bag, contrast casing bag, and the Minnie Mouse with boxed bottom bag would all hold up well to washing.
