I’ve heard that on Toon in With Me when the late Gilbert Gottfried was a guest, he mentioned that this was his favorite cartoon. The ending punchline is pure gold! 😂
The "Quintuplets give birth to quintuplets" headline gag is in reference to the famous Dionne quintuplets, also referenced in Clampett's Baby Bottleneck (" Mr. Dionne, please!"), as well as at the end of the 1939 Three Stooges short "Oily to Bed, Oily to Rise".
9:48- Sadly, Bing Crosby never lived to see the year 2000; he died in October 1977, on a golf course in Spain. His stable of "broken-down nags" had already been consigned to history's dustbin.
The song, “The Old Grey Mare” plays under the title card driving the pun home. Also note that as Bugs is digging the grave, Elmer is actually sing-crying to the melody of the song playing underneath.
Kinda wished Baby Looney Tunes went in the direction that Bob Clampett did here, but toddlers need to see Looney Tunes as innocent babies before watching the actual shorts that aired from the 1930s to the 1960s. Hey, my generation watched Muppet Babies and Sesame Street before we knew that Jim Henson's puppets can be cruel and not family friendly, so why rag on Baby Looney Tunes for being bad?
Awsome clampet short,in my opnion jis best bugs bunny short, your doing great Anthony, to bad you have somany redo commentaries, buylt you are a strong man who is takeing the time to talk about these classics that is hard work and dedication, keep doing you bro, also can you do a physical media review for collector's choice volume 4 and the golden collection series please
The ending gag to this cartoon is why I find the replacing of ending cards for the “dubbed versions” to be so pointless. Not only do they inexplicably replace the end music at times or inexplicably replace the ending cards, but they also ruin ending gags as well!
Yeah, I never liked that, either, though I'm so sure there was a time before The Bob Clampett Show that I saw the original ending card on TNT. And, not only was the title card changed on most American TV versions, but the version on The WB (which isn't even a channel anymore) cut Baby Elmer sticking his toy gun in Baby Bugs' face and Baby Bugs braining Baby Elmer with his glass bottle of carrot juice.
I actually like the extra layer that Bing Crosby's 1977 death adds to the newspaper joke, because it means that Crosby sucked so bad at betting on horses that 23 years after his death, he still hasn't won.
Smellevision would be TERRIBLE. Suppose you happen upon an episode somewhere about the SEWERS! Or maybe there's a cooking show and somebody's allergic to one of the foods (my eyes tear up or "go bad" when a warm onion is cut up). Science, don't go this far. Please!
@@canaisyoung3601True, they actually handed out scratch-n-sniff cards with numbered patches and you would scratch that area of the card when that number popped up on the screen.

Agree about this being a masterpiece. The flashback sequence, in particular, is one of the best things Clampett ever did.

One of the greatest cartoons ever made. Absolute classic.

"Traumerei".
This was "Baby Looney Tunes" before it became more family-friendly.

Old Elmer looks like a cross between John Bolton and Blue from "Old School"
This part when they shook hands and switched sides reminds me of the way geseler from Paramount cartoons animates
So long, Methuselah!! *cackles*
i also notice this. when they aired this short, the end title card just shows a normal animating version, but you could still hear the explosion.

An absolute CLASSIC!!
19:06 Elmer's baby stroller looks just like the Booster Seat from Mario Kart Wii.
Great Clampett cartoon. Excited for the stupid Cupid review

@@canaisyoung3601I don’t blame Chuck Jones for saying he hated censorship once.
A slight correction @ 11:09 - Bing passed in 1977, not ‘74. Other than that, a great, insightful review 😊
Whoops you’re right! Thanks for the correction! To quote The Simpsons: ‘I hope somebody got fired for that blunder’ 😂 😂

I think there was a John Waters movie that was in Smell-o-Vision and pretty much showed the downside to it.
