You have something in common with Kevin. He also plays the saxophone. He has played Carnegie Hall with the cello and the saxophone. Kevin is a musical unicorn!
I feel like they each have their own talents that make them exceptional as artists, and together they defy logic. Everyone in the band says that Kevin is the most talented, and that Mitch is the best singer. Scott is a genius when it comes to putting things together - groups, arrangements, business promotion, etc. Kirstie has a voice that could be a soloist, and she is said to be extremely kind and empathetic - kind of taking care of her band mates emotionally. Avi is a teacher in his approach - with the kids a cappella group he helped form, with Kevin, etc. and Matt has been called “Drama Free Matt Sallee”, and is known to be very likable, making everyone feel accepted and at ease. That’s on top of their many other talents with musical instruments and other groups they participate in!
Kevin is such a genius and a musical genius. He has so many talents in him I can't believe he hasn't self-combusted. Can play multiple instruments, sing, beatbox, write, compose, speaks multiple languages, perfect pitch, as if that wasn't enough, he was pre-med at Yale. He is also a humble and wonderful human. Maybe when he is done making music, he can cure cancer and broker world peace.
While he was in pre-med at Yale he played his cello for a competition that Yo Yo Ma, a world renown cellist, was hosting. Kevin got 2nd place, but Yo Yo Ma said he was the most creative cellist in the competition. When Kevin plays those "trumpets", which are just his voice, in videos like PTX's "Havana", I think he is channeling some of his sax playing. He played his sax at Carnegie Hall when he was in college. I love his video of "True Colors".
Kevin truly is an amazing talent. All of his KOvers are great and I highly recommend his Renegade video. His celloboxing is incredible and I do believe that it is an original.
I absolutely loved your reaction! You totally get and appreciate Kevin! As much as I love PTX and everyone in the group, no one surpasses him in pure musical genius.
Kevin graduated from Yale. He lived in China for a year and speaks fluent Mandarin. He is a gifted classically trained cellist who invented cello/ boxing. He was born with perfect pitch. He is a for real genius and a extremely kind and humble person. He also has the best laugh
You’re becoming one of my favourite reactors now. And I just because of your awesome personality but you’re reviewing some things that most reactors don’t. Please keep it coming with Kevin!
Kevin is a genius. Simple as that. Others have covered the rest. Just watch it all, seems straight up your alley. Pure musical talent and innovation and feeling! Also, you said you do reactions to looping performances. I don't know if you can do reactions to tiktok videos but Scott has done loads of looped songs these past months where he basically does 4-8 vocal layers in all ranges himself. I have a feeling you would appriciate it. It's so amazing to see it kind of "deconstructed"
Indeed It’s a full time job covering all the tunnels in the PTX rabbit hole! I think those that don’t know underestimate this man’s abilities.. great reaction and was happy you could relate to him as a musician and creator ☺️
You nailed in on the head brother. They each can do it on their own.....super talents!! It is what makes groups like Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play so strooooonnnnggg! and pure joy to listen to. I know the first time I watched Kevin do this I was bounding around in my chair dumbfounded!!
For more KO: Stay With Me, All Of Me, True Colors, Human Nature, Adele Medley. I recommend choosing the versions with videos, they’re all good. I enjoyed your reaction very much, thank you for accepting the invitation to dive into another great rabbit hole. PS, All Of Me features four part cello harmony, all played by Kevin. 😃
You play the Sax! Awesome! Kevin also plays Sax. He played Carnegie Hall TWICE, once for Sax And again for Cello! He is accomplished! And I'm sure you know he was a Pre-Med student before signing with PTX. He also speaks fluent Mandarin. Studied in China 3 years. Multi faceted guy. Thanks for this reaction. I love Kevin getting his honors... he deserves it!
You are one the most fascinating reactors I have had the pleasure to be subscribed to. I love your voice, your speaking tones and the kindness and joy of doing what you love to do so much. You see the magic in the music you listen to. You see the talents and explain them in ways I can understand. I am so happy you are on this rabbit hole of PTX. Please do La La Latch, and also a duo with Scott Hoying and Mario Jose. Scott took the music from the movie Inception, and used the words to fit into the beauty of the one of the greatest composers of the musical world!! Love you and your joy for music!!
Great reaction. Always love your PTX reactions and recently started watching your others. Since you are reacting to some of PTX solo stuff I would love to see you react to Scott Hoying(Scott of PTX) and Mario Jose cover of Lost on you. It's stunning!!
Kevin is just incredible. Super creative, exceedingly committed to his craft, a joy to watch and listen to! In addition to Kevin's music, you may also appreciate Mitch's cover of Billie Eilish's Your Power - he arranged the musical accompaniment and then played the piano and synth himself. The video is of him singing on his own roof top - absolutely divine!
Kevin is always in beast mode. Even the other members of PTX say he is the most talented of the group. You should check out Scott in his own beast mode in his video of I Should Tell Ya Momma On You.
Kevin is arguably the most talented and well rounded member of the band. Classically trained on the cello, beautiful tenor voice, major contributor to their arrangements, master beatboxer - he is amazing.
People keep giving you more to react to because we love how into it you are! I adored your explanation of how "DED-DEAD!" you were & yes, to answer your unasked question, we are pretty sure he is part alien, part unicorn (Aliecorn?)! He plays many instruments beautifully, speaks fluent mandarin, & had just finished Pre-med at Yale when asked to join PTX for the Sing-Off competition, & no one takes him for granted! In fact, their concert schedule is worked around Kevin's devout Christian day of Sabbath, & every concert will have him do a set of Cello-Boxing! He's also an amazing friend, husband, father, & good human, if you weren't already asking what you were doing with your life! 🤣 Fantastic reactions on this & Happy Now!
We are here for your reaction to ALL the members of PTX! Each one could have a career on their own....but together it just blows your mind! Enjoy this journey!
NOW, time for a Mitch solo project! Mitch records under the name Messer. YOUR POWER and WHEN ANGLES CRY are two of his hits! You will NOT be disappointed!😅
I think it was one of these type of videos that Scott, Mitch and Kirstin saw when they were looking for a Beatboxer for PTX. You can see why they were blown away by his talent can't you?! Great reaction Dave. Keep 'em coming!
This is not the one. This is way newer. The video they saw was a performance of Juli-o where he celloboxes. It's a live one take video where he plays the cello and beatboxes at the same time.
I was surprised you hadn’t reacted to this years ago. I think I remember maybe suggesting it a little while after I subscribed to you after you started reacting to Home Free. I had forgotten about it. Kevin is a beast at everything he does! I’ve seen a couple other of his videos, but this one is tops! It totally blew me away the first time I saw it. I also love his voice! He has such a rich tone to his voice! And that falsetto! Loved your reaction! As far as being late in watching, better late than never! I remember subscribing to his channel right after I saw this one.
I loved your reaction-thanks! Kevin named the regular cello that he uses for celloboxing with Pentatonix "Beyonce". This electric cello that he uses on his solo channel was named Mr Carter by his mother. Kevin is also a world class saxophone player and he has a video on You Tube of him playing saxophone at Carnegie Hall when he was a teenager still in high school that I would love to see you react to since you are a saxophone player too. The video is Kevin Olusola "From The Top: Live From Carnegie Hall-2005". The performance and interview afterward are amazing--Please react to that one!
If you like to freestyle, he has inspiration on his tiktok channel where he invites others to either rap, sing or accompany him. He gives others a platform. I love it
This is, literally, genius at work. He’s classically trained and played cello and sax and the best of places, also I think he went thru med school? Plus, we know he can sing, beatbox, play keys and drums. I know there’s more. He can probably do it all, he’s a magic man.
And, he plays saxophone. And, he speaks Mandarin Chinese. And, he was going to medical school, when he stepped out to go to The Sing Off competition with Pentatonix. He's overflowing with talent!
It would be interesting to see a Pentatonix album featuring stuff like this. I could imagine Kirstie and Mitch doing some kind of crazy vocals over top of it.
Since he and his wife had the baby Kevin hasn't had enough time to record anything but TikToks. But his "KO" channel has a variety of music he has experimented with -- celloboxing from his college days, a series of "My Story" autobiographical videos and arrangements of pop and classical music, solo and with other musicians. Some of my favorites -- "Stay with Me" and "Renegade". BTW, for some reason the video that brought Kevin to Scott's notice isn't on his channel. It's called "Hip Hop Cello Beatbox Julie-O". "Julie-O" is a notoriously difficult cello piece by Mark Summer and Kevin added beat boxing and recorded some versions he was going to use as audition tapes for music school.
Kevin has 6 more videos like this (one-take looping KOvers) on his channel, just look for the same background as for cello doing the guitar look up 2Cellos (unfortunately they are on the farewell tour this year)
Your reaction was just amazing - Have enjoyed your comments for all of PTX, but your insights on this one .... Great stuff .... Kev has also done some wonderful collabs on various songs, but the first one of his that caught my eye (ears ) was Renegade .... rather a different kettle of fish ... I think you will be able to appreciate it better than most and I'll look forward to your reaction on that one ... TY for your reactions ... you have a new fan.
You know KO plays the sax and piano as well (and probably a bunch of others, but that's just my own speculation)...he has even played both sax and cello at Carnegie Hall.
Yeah, that's an electric cello... he hit the distortion petal for it on his way back over to do the solo. He said it took him about a year to figure out how to get the electric guitar sound out of it and perfect it the way he wanted. You mentioned freestyling over it - Kevin posts shorts in this vein on his TikTok for people to duet exactly like that. He'll then react to at least some of the responses. He gets some interesting results, including one from Scott 🤣 I'm not a huge classical fan, so I don't do a lot of Kevin's original work but my second favorite on his channel is the Harry Stiles cover. People have mentioned he's a concert-level cellist and saxophone player, but he also dabbles around with the keyboard and drums and whatnot. Every member of Pentatonix plays at least one instrument, which is a little funny for an a capella group. Mitch and Kirstin play piano, but Scott's piano is pro level... Avi plays guitar and Matt is a drummer. I think both Kevin's cellos are pretty much always seen on tour, but Kevin and Matt pull out kettle drums occasionally on tour, too, most notably during the live performances of Kanye's Coldest Winter. Scott's piano came out on tour for the first time during their last Christmas tour.
I have a few reactions to her already. They don’t perform nearly as well tho. ruclips.net/video/xGfeBp0nXdI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/11Y_qjr5dXw/видео.html
Wait a minute! You haven't really gone "down the rabbit hole with Scott and Mitch" unless you've done Hip Hop Goes Broadway, Parts 1 and 2, as well as Empire and at least a couple of their Superfruit originals! My favs are Single Ladies and Guy.exe, but any will do fine. Puleeze!
You have something in common with Kevin. He also plays the saxophone. He has played Carnegie Hall with the cello and the saxophone. Kevin is a musical unicorn!
Yes, played Carnegie twice....as a teenager. 2005
But love to just watch his face when he finishes with the Guitar solo...sheer joy!!!
And to think Kevin was unsure of his singing voice until Avi gave him some pointers and confidence.
I would also say that Kirstie is the best writer out of the bunch.
Your facial expressions were priceless! 🤣🔥 Watch his performance of All Of Me, it's so beautiful.
The talent is undeniable. I remember when this came out. It blew my mind. Great reaction!
Everyone in PTX points to Kevin when asked who is the most talented 🤯🤯🤯
Kevin is such a genius and a musical genius. He has so many talents in him I can't believe he hasn't self-combusted. Can play multiple instruments, sing, beatbox, write, compose, speaks multiple languages, perfect pitch, as if that wasn't enough, he was pre-med at Yale. He is also a humble and wonderful human.
Maybe when he is done making music, he can cure cancer and broker world peace.
He's amazingly talented. I love this!
He played cello with Yo Yo Ma at Carnegie Hall and Yo Yo Ma said he was one of the best he's ever heard!
I believe he also played his sax at Carnegie Hall. In HS maybe?
That’s a huge compliment!
Yep. And went on some tour or something with Quincey Jones!
That smile at the end is so telling and perfection and he knows it.
This reaction made my soul happy. Kevin is stellar!! Your enthusiasm is contagious.
Your obvious enjoyment is sooo infectious!
While he was in pre-med at Yale he played his cello for a competition that Yo Yo Ma, a world renown cellist, was hosting. @@Anna-xx1lv you are correct. Kevin’s parents were not sold on the music direction he took instead of medicine. But now they are good with it.
He was 17 years old, heading to Yale...hadn't started college yet. Just phenomenal
Kevin truly is an amazing talent. All of his KOvers are great and I highly recommend his Renegade video. His celloboxing is incredible and I do believe that it is an original.

You HAD to get on the Kevin train! So glad you did because YOU KNOW! Excellent reaction. When you see a PTX concert you have to shake Kevin's hand.
You’re becoming one of my favourite reactors now. And I just because of your awesome personality but you’re reviewing some things that most reactors don’t. Please keep it coming with Kevin!
Yes! He has personality AND knowledge. Most have either or. Or a bad attitude, haha.
Yes, you are so right! Each and every member of PTX are multi-talented musical unicorns. Thank you for a great reaction, Dave.
Kevin is a genius. Simple as that. Others have covered the rest. Just watch it all, seems straight up your alley. Pure musical talent and innovation and feeling!

My brain just left my body, please do more loop station, kevin is incredible, his voice is so smooth Nd pure!
That was major stank face 🤣🥰

Love it, the face when he went back to the Cello was priceless. Cheers!
Love your reactions!! Kevin is beyond talented! Thank-you
Kevin is arguably the most talented and well rounded member of the band. Classically trained on the cello, beautiful tenor voice, major contributor to their arrangements, master beatboxer - he is amazing.
You forgot about the sax. Yes, he plays sax...played Carnegie Hall as a teen.

Yes, it was a song called "Julie-O", forgive me as I don't recall the original artist.
PTX saw this video of Kevin & had to have him.
This is not the one. This is way newer. The video they saw was a performance of Juli-o where he celloboxes. It's a live one take video where he plays the cello and beatboxes at the same time.

PLEASE react to Mitch’s solo project, Messer. Angel’s Pray and Machine are 2 of my faves. His cover of Billie Eilish’s Your Power is also 🤯. 💜
Kevin is a gift. Thanks for sharing him with us.
His original “Renegade” shows more of his cello boxing skills- it’s jaw dropping!
I'm sure he'd fare well in competition, but I doubt he has time, lol. Great reaction!
You have just been K.O.'d. Forgive us pentaholics for giggling at you.
Wow! Given Kevin some love. He is soooooo brilliant
His smile at the end is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
Kevin plays saxaphone. Go on youtube and search his name and carnegie hall. He played saxaphone at carnegie hall when he was still in high school.
This is, literally, genius at work. He’s classically trained and played cello and sax and the best of places, also I think he went thru med school? Plus, we know he can sing, beatbox, play keys and drums. I know there’s more. He can probably do it all, he’s a magic man.
Kevin is a freak of nature. You should check out his original Renegade
Kevin’s channel is a fantastic rabbit hole to explore and I’m certain you’d have lots of company with you on that journey
And, he plays saxophone. And, he speaks Mandarin Chinese. And, he was going to medical school, when he stepped out to go to The Sing Off competition with Pentatonix. He's overflowing with talent!
Rabbit holes?! They made tunnels!
Yep! And mazes with connecting doors to new tunnels. You're never getting out my man, and neither do we want to!
Amazing huh?!?!
Thank you for sharing your time with us. ☮️
So how many times did you go back and listen to this again??? It was def jaw-dropping!!!
Oh, so you play sax! So does Kevin 😂
Most of his sax work is on his IG
It would be interesting to see a Pentatonix album featuring stuff like this. I could imagine Kirstie and Mitch doing some kind of crazy vocals over top of it.
Yaas! Glad to see this (again!)!

He also knowes how to rap...

Check out Scotts solo "I should tell ya momma on ya" It's amazing
Kevin was going to medical school but joined PTX instead.
Kevin Olusola- A Sign of the times
My favorite commenters are those who can make some serious stank face when KO let's loose! Awesome reaction!
You know KO plays the sax and piano as well (and probably a bunch of others, but that's just my own speculation)...he has even played both sax and cello at Carnegie Hall.
Sorry, didn't read previous comments and obviously others have made essentially this exact same comment.
Oh, and he played the Sax at Carnegie Hall!
Kevin is the only person in PTX that has perfect pitch. He is my favorite member. You should check out his cover of "sign of the times"
Human Nature by KO is totally awesome. It will blow you away too.
Kevin loves the Lord, and PTX never does anything that he feels uncomfortable with. I find that so admirable.
Premed degree from Yale did medical work in China for 6 months with a PKU-Yale program. Speaks fluent Cantonese
He gets some interesting results, including one from Scott 🤣

I would have loved to have seen Kevin and Eddie Van Halen play together. It would have been cool to see them trade rifs.
Check his saxophone performance at Carnegie Hall.
Masterpiece! Have you listened to scott hoying's "I should tell ya momma on you" ? If not...you should!
You feel disgusted in how well that went off….Omg, you are SO right! 🤣🎶🌈
If you like to watch looping, watch Elise Trouw. She plays a lot of different instruments while singing. It's very cool. Great reaction. Thanks.
I have a few reactions to her already. They don’t perform nearly as well tho.

that was awesome!
His as long as you love me, true colors and any of his chelloboxing
I believe he had been accepted to medical school but went another direction.
He also speaks Mandarin Chinese. Spent time in China.
Amazing…done ! Done.
Yeah... What he said.
Check his cover of Friends!!
You must watch and react to Kevin's song: "Renegade," official video. It's a MASTERPIECE.
Law of averages means i probably can't speak English correctly...cause the dude got everything else talent wise LOL!!!1
Puleeze!
Recommend his cover of Sign Of The Times.
Kevin calls his cello Beyonce. He calls his electric cello Mr. Carter.
Scott Hoying. solo, I should tell your mama on you.
Mitch Grassi solo Your power. He does an Amazing job so emotional.
