Yeah, just watched M again. A masterpiece. This one is good as well. If you haven't watched all the classics there is just no sense in watching most of the stuff they make these days. Well, no sense if you watched them either hahaha. There are still good movies made though and there was plenty of rubbish back then too.
I've heard of Faust for many years but knew nothing about it. I've only recently found Murnau but watched Nosferatu a few times over the years, the only one I knew of his. Most b&w films surpass anything modern and I have watched many from early ones through into the 50's/60's. I got rid of my t.v. 20 years ago and don't miss it one bit and would rather watch good stuff like this on my computer.

Increíble lo poco sutil y lo diferente que es la obra maestra de Murnau frente a la de Goethe, que esta llena de disquisiciones y sutilezas filosoficas bastante ridículas, a veces destiladas de Calderón de la Barca. Además por efectos dramáticos obviamente Murnau acaba moralizando igual que en Sunrise(Amanecer). El final del primer Fausto de Goethe es completamente realista, un poco infame pero vital, Murnau se vuelve moralista, sentimental pero sibilinamente honrado. ¿Amaba el Fausto de Goethe a Gretchen? Honradamente creo que no.
After 93 years this film still has power, beauty and lasting impact. The musical score is wonderful.
