Fabulous tips and photos! My usual approach is shooting from the hip and hoping for a good outcome. Keep the great videos coming!

Thank you Steve. I usually talk to people and maybe have a drink with them, hear their story. And then I’d ask if I could take a picture. This helps me feel like I didn’t pay to take a picture (even though i did 😝). I love your prospective and your detailed advantages and disadvantages. You are a pro!

I wish you could some pics of me (I wouldn’t ask for money 💰) 💕😊😊

Great photos Steve! I’d love to know more about how you get sharp shots while shooting from the hip. Fully automatic I assume but still difficult even with a fast camera.

I actually set my shutter speed to 1/1000 or 1/2000 and keep aperture and ISO on auto! Try that and see if you get sufficient sharpness!

Good guess. Yes that was from Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro. One of my favorite urban beaches in the world

The first rule of street-photography and taking pictures or movies from people is to ask their permission, and eventually also the permission to publish the pictures or movies. I see so often street-photographers taking pictures of people without asking their permission. Just taking the picture and continuing their way up to the next victim. Even a thank you is to much. They don't care about peoples privacy, just their picture is important. I hate that kind of people.

You don't have privacy when you are in a public place

Its not because i am in a public place that you have the right to take a picture of me without my permission and certainly not to publish that picture on the internet, social media or others.
