As a result of past traums, I struggle SO, SO HARD witb setting boundaries. Thank you for this video.
Amazing conversation. Thank you for this clip. I used to feel like setting boundaries was not the Christian thing to do, but I feel more confident with setting boundaries now. However, the hardest part is always having that hard conversation.
There can be a lot of apprehension can't there? Think of it like this: would you rather have discomfort for one conversation, or prolonged and unresolved discomfort for months on end?
I really struggle with doing it too, but I must start pushing back, if only in little ways.
@@sandstorm7768 Wow. Great perspective. To add, the prolonged and unresolved discomfort could even go for years on end, sometimes.
He threw the tax collectors out of the temple. One of the best boundaries ever set.
They were not tax collectors. Jesus supposedly got a tax collector to join his merry band.
They were actually sellers yes, not tax collectors
*money changers, not tax collectors, but I get your drift and COMPLETELY AGREE!!
Money changers.
Can you talk about boundaries in marriage, leave and cleave and the priority of his wife over parental figures. Boundaries in an abusive in law situation. Mother in law puts up pics old GF, after 10 years married she tried to give him a woman he went to high school’s phone # , she got it for him. She did
this over the car phone with my husband and I and our 3 young kids. It’s not changed in 14 years. Except now we live closer so my husband is always torn by his parent’s expectations and his own family. It’s suffocating our marriage badly. Boundaries are extremely difficult.
Leaving a party without saying your goodbyes is called an Irish exit!
Cool
Correction: 4th commandment. The person who wrote the question said 5th, which is kinda funny since the 5th is "Thou Shall Not Kill." Also the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that the obedience clause of the 4th commandment ends at adulthood.
I just looked this up on many different websites and it's definitely the fifth commandment. "Thou shalt not kill" is the sixth. The only place where there was a discrepancy was on Wikipedia. It just seems that different traditions group certain sentences together which is where the confusion may lie. Which translation are you looking at?
Adulthood, or adult independence?
No.
The fifth commandment is the only one with a promise.
Thou shall honor thy father and mother, your days will be long in the Lord and you will prosper.
Honor is a life time virtue.
Even so.
As you would like done unto you.
The catholic version is different due to omitting- thou shalt not worship idols and separating the not coveting the wife or the belongings of your neighbor.
