    I’m also a rising valedictorian this year and will have taken 13 ap classes too surprisingly. I agree with most of the list rankings other than the one for calc, that class I actually enjoyed, (nerd alert) however, it was challenging. The most difficult and absolute hellish class I’ve taken was AP Chem. Our teacher assigned entire packets of homework to be turned in on the following day and I could not go one night without getting less than 3 hours of sleep. My class had only 7 students by the end of the year because of the sheer number of students who dropped out in the beginning. To make matters worse, we only did around three labs throughout the course of the year because of how behind we were. It is also the only AP exam I have failed with a score of 2. My advice - DO NOT take AP Chem - It will ruin your health.

    Have to disagree with APHG- Easy class, Hard test. Especially if this is the first AP class you've taken, the learning style is extremely different from other classes. The questions can definitely be easy, but the FRQ's require a significant understanding of the entire subject in general.

    So my freshman year of high school, I took as many AP courses the counselor would let me which was 3. APHG, APES, & APCSP. In totality, APES was my most challenging AP course that I took. The teacher was great, I bonded with her and over the year, I could tell she enjoyed having my in her. But, the way she taught was with labs and a packet of material were supposed to complete as well as some projects done in groups or on our own. The exam was during covid though and I ended up getting a 4 thankfully. I took a total of 16 AP classes in high school.

    So as someone who’s taking calc and stats at the same time, here’s what I would have to say about them. Stats is less creative, and a lot of writing. For a lot of the questions you pretty much just have a script to write down. However if you can memorize stuff, it will probably come easy to you. Calc however is less memorization and more creativity and problem solving. Once you learn how to apply derivatives it gets super nuanced and in my opinion, fun. So In summary if you want a class that’s kinda just memorization and writing go stats, and if you want a class that’s difficult and nuanced problem solving, go calc.

    • @YouTubeSchooling
      @YouTubeSchooling  Год назад +1

      I agree to a certain extent. For me personally I wasn't drawn to how abstract calc was and could wrap my head around stats problems better. Definitely had to write out long scripts to answer though which was just tedious

Only thing I'd disagree on is AP Calc, I took AB and BC and I really had no problem with it whatsoever, I didn't even pay attention in class (I got senioritis extremely early and got it in my junior year which is when I had 4 ap classes at once), but I still somehow passed but I don't remember anything😭. Also, I'm in the middle of AP macro and it doesn't seem that hard but it could be due to the teacher. Ap language is horrific, I passed but I'm never gonna remember anything, though to be fair I'm a terrible procrastinator and decided to not read a book that we had 2-3 weeks to do until the night before so I legit just made a comfortable den in my room and read the whole book overnight while watching out for my mom to not get in trouble. Then APUSH, I did absolutely nothing whatsoever, I copied all my notes for my chapter grades. The only work I did was DBQs which I got 5-6s on our practice ones, I learned probably nothing in that class and still passed the exam. (This looks like I'm bragging but I'm not trying to😭😭😭)

      Lang is focused around non fictional rhetorical analysis. So you are looking at writer intention and arguments in articles, letters, speeches, etc

      You probably can self-study for BC and get as much credit as somebody who also took the class because colleges will know what your school offers and what it doesn't. In fact I would think an admissions officer at a school would be more impressed if you self-studied for a 5 rather than taking a class too, it shows a lot of rigor.

      Ivy leagues also want to know you do more than study so please remember to actually do some interesting projects or join clubs between all your studies. (Easier said than done, I know) My grandkids are entering the admissions cycle and having talked to former students,recruiters, and graduates in the pond, they all recommend good academic skills but great interpersonal skills. Having met enough super nerds and whilst being a super nerd, they're looking for more than an academic history. (Although you don't and shouldn't rely on spinning a tale of woe. It's more offputting in the sense that you have to be able to spin it as some sort of navigable problem and for some people's issues, the elephant in the room is that they want struggle without any of the trauma that may be attached.) Their likely to offer counseling referrals in the area or vague sympathy but they're not there to provide you with some form of feedback for your trauma be it sympathy or otherwise. (Although the caveat is the right recruiter will give some a shot, but it's rare.)
      What things do you want to do in life? How do you want to help others? Will you be willing and able to balance the real world (if you're a strict academic) alongside a work study or project group/club? Any other college will ask these questions, even the good but obviously smaller Community ones. Most kids are expected to do more than be involved in cramming schools like they were in HS. (It's a thing for Asian students coming from abroad).

    Have you ever lied? stolen? hated? been prideful? gossiped? swore? Or other bad things? I Can say without a doubt we’ve at least done something that was considered bad, consciously that we shouldn’t have done. this is called sin. It’s the act of doing something against what God wants in our lives.
    Think about this. You have just invited someone over to your house, and that means you can place rules on what they do - because it’s your home! Now lets say this said person directly disobeyed the rules you’ve placed while they were there. you would be offended right?
    This is exactly the situation with us and God. We are the person staying over in His creation, yet we consciously disobey- which is called Sin. We all have this problem and because of this God has to send us to hell because He is so just can’t just let these wrong doings pass. Think of it as a guilty criminal having to be sentenced to jail because the Judge knows it’s right. We are the guilty criminal. Hell is our punishment. And God is that Judge.
    Well, this would mean that everyone would go to hell because we’ve all committed sin-disobedience from God, consciously. But here’s the good news. Jesus came to die on the cross, taking our punishment upon Himself, for our sins so we don’t need to go to hell. Think of that same analogy with the criminal. Now there is a person that’s willing to bail that criminal out and if that criminal accept that gift of bail, then they will be able to legally be free.
    If we accept that, Jesus died on the cross for our sins and repent- turn away from sin-then we will be saved because we take His bail that He offers for free so we can go to heaven.
