whenever i feel im stuck in a rut musically, watching philx's videos always seem to get me inspired again. Sort of like a refill of the inspirational juices.
There's NOT many guitarist out there that just GET IT. I'm glad brotha Phil is able to show people what it's about...not effects, not hiding behind distortion, BUT creating genuine tones & melodic expression...from the tippy tops of the fingers to the soul...Great shit man!!
I have liked PHIL since his TRIUMPH days he really is an unsung guitar hero and is awesome, always enjoy his vintage guitar reviews , thanks and keep them coming .
I use to like my foot switch tuner .....but now ,I really enjoy my clip-on head stock digital fender tuner ....... You still keep eye contact with audience , regards, blueboyrush
Hey FA... much thanks for all the vids over the years. Can't afford anything you're selling, but these videos with Phil make you among the best channels on YT. PX... aw, hell. You know. Have a Kick-Ass Christmas!!!
New Drills CD is out! It was so cool when i saw the CD on my doormat this week, because I didn't even know it was out already! It's so good! First time ever I experienced premature earjaculation!
I'm happy we got one more PhilX vid before all hell breaks loose. I got my Tactical Bacon, Zombie Hammer, my Gibson, and a micro Terror. Yup .. all prepared.
Another great guitar and another fine demonstration from Phil! I was having a really shitty day and then saw this. One can't help but be affected by all of Phil's positive energy and passion for the music. He makes it fun and he makes a player want to play better. And my wish list for axes is getting really really long, Santa Claus.
I understand the hand built concept but I bet that the neck pocket ( in the body ) and the neck end don't vary as they have to fit into each other. It just seems weird they would vary so much. If a batch of them had purposely made with v profiles or whatever that would make sense, but it seems that each one has it's own variance. I have a hand built guitar so appreciate the love a craftsman gives.
What a beautiful sound! It all sounds so perfect! BUT Now that the amps are in a seperate room, CAN WE PLEASE HERE THE VOX AC30 CRANKED? an OVERDRIVEN VINTAGE AC30 Is one of the BEST SOUNDS IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK! (Thumbs up if you want to hear it!)
I've seen a VH 4 down there . If you make a Video there again , could you Play thru that too ? I just want to hear how those old Beauties sound in Super-Über-High gain . Greetings from Germany !
Love the music, love Phil X...the new background isn't my thing, but still worth the price of admission. ;> So....Phil X, you may pull in some interested fans of your music if you sold it as MP3's on Amazon with a link below your video instead of leaving it as a "bet it's cool, I'll get around to buying it..." vibe. Just a thought - thanks for sharing the music
well those are straight angles, easier to make neat and perfect. I bet if you look at the serial numbers you'd notice certain trends and depending on which craftsman worked on the neck it may vary from person to person. who knows... even on modern guitars I can notice a difference in neck between instruments. I have a beloved godin session. and i played one at a guitar store the other day and I noticed the neck felt different and had a slightly different shape
when you are working with wood there is no real way to avoid variance. Especially back in the 50s when they made them in batches and all using hand tools, No cnc machines. Car parts have to be identical for servicing reasons, But when you have something that your hand is going to be rested against for a couple of hours its nice to have a bit of variance. Like when I buy a new guitar, once I know which one I want i get the store clerk to get all the copies of a certain model and I try them all
Hey Phill X i dont know if what you played from 11:30 on till the end of the video was somone elses song or your own embellishment, but if you came up with it you definatly need to record it because id buy it!
Happy Holidays to you FA! Thanks for the awesome videos. Phil's the man and the new Drills CD is GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm always amazed with what people will pay for these things. They aren't really old or special, they are production line and mass manufactured(even these 50's ones, yes). I've seen a 300 year old parlour guitar hand made by a master craftsman on one of those BBC antique shows and it went for only £800 on the auction room. It's all got to do with demand, people want these things so the price is gonna be huge. If everyone wanted a rare teddy bear from 1946, they would sell for 40 grand also.
haha "I'm not gonna scream, I don't feel like it". * Screams and "Yeah. I was playing in D and then I hit an E chord. You got a problem?" hahaha Brilliant stuff on the SRV tone. Can you do this on all strats? :-)

I absolutely cannot get enough of these videos.
Now this is a worthy revue, the playing matches the guitar appropriately. Love this one.
That's one of the best looking 50's Strats i've ever seen.
I havnt felt so much excitement while watching a Fretted Americana video. All the new equipment and stuff is jst so "scintilating". Har har har

actually, i HAVE done Speed King (one of my faves) in another video but can't say which one. it being a strat will narrow it down when you go fishin'.

Liking the diesel vh4 that was on the bottom, wished he played through it

I don't even like "Highway Star," but if that isn't one of the best solos of all time, I don't know what is =| .\m/ Rock it, Phil.
it's awesome
he is jacked -up. good for him.
Please do a 62 slab board strat! I'm looking to buy one but need a good demo before I decide on which store I'm going to buy a 62 from.
Fender an Fender Cleans should always be sampled synonymously . It's like PB& J.
