Commercial side is painfully lacking. Been waiting 11 years for a decent restaurant in The Flowers area and still nothing. And when a new restaurant finally shows up it's a terrible choice like Taco Bell, Smithfield Chicken or Hwy 55. So now it's been made doubly worse because now all the prime spots for restaurants have been taken by these bafflingly bad choices.
@@raleigh-durhamnc I don't mind the chains so much, it's just the choice in chains that has been terrible. Clayton is the only Raleigh adjacent town without a Panera or Chick-fil-A. Not to mention we already had a McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Smithfield on 70...why repeat the same places at Flowers?! 😂
The land next to Mezcalito's Mexican restaurant is a prime example of what you're saying because it's jammed with apartments instead of using that prime land for more restaurants and retail instead of just a SECU and a Goodwill store. Even that waterfront district will have over 600 townhomes and apartments so how much room is left for actual shopping and restaurants. We were priced out of Raleigh after living there 19 years and needing a home more suited to retirees and we bought in Flower's because the prices were much lower. Now that we're spending most of our time in our car driving either to Raleigh, White Oak in Garner or Smithfield, we realize that location, location, location is a real thing to pay attention to in real estate because even Clayton doesn't have much of anything.
@@debra2700 Yes lots and lots of housing for sure! I think more commercial will come soon. We just learned that Mellow Mushroom has purchased land in Clayton! Not necessarily local, but does have a more local feel than something like a Wendy's or bank!
Hi! Cindi has living in the triangle her entire life and never has been bit by a snake. We see snakes occasionally, but the ones you will see most are black snakes and they are harmless to people. Copperheads are common in NC but it's rare to actually be bitten by one. As long as you are mindful in rocky and wooded areas you will be fine!
I really enjoy your content. You both go into detail about each community which I truly love. Thank you❤
Thank you so much for the kind comment!! We hope you'll keep watching!
Born in Clayton , moved away in 1973, I need to get back to see all the new changes
You wouldn't even believe your eyes!

Thank you for sharing! It is hard when big name retailers and chains take the new spots. What's your favorite local spot for people to try?

Can you please advise on snake situation in Clayton. How common is to see or step on one? Thanks!
