      It's a disappointing card with a disappointing price, isn't that a good reason?
      In fact, throughout most of Europe, a brand new 2060 6GB costs almost as much as a 3060 12 GB.
      The used prices are not all that tempting either, averaging 75% of the new prices. Looks like demand is still high.

      The Rtx 2060 came from a shitty generation with shitty Ray Tracing and jacked up prices for a technology nobody wanted or needed and forced it down our throats until it infected more and more games . Especially when the previous generation 1000 series was the best thing Nvidia has done in the history of their company and then Jensen said he needed a new leather jacket and decided that being a decent human being was unnecessary because he could get MORE MONEY if he screwed over the people and he lacks a conscious and is consumed by greed. You would have to pry vram out of his cold dead hands 😂 so yeah everything 1600 and 2000 series was utter garbage and so was 3000 and 4000 🙄 here’s wishing for the 5000 series but I’ll probably end up going AMD when they can replace my Gtx 1080 Ti for a reasonable price

    I think you can still use FSR 1.0 through lossless scaling in Elden Ring, but yeah, this game is extremely demanding for it's visuals. One more thing that you didn't cover is the VRAM limitation. In some games on a 480 4GB the VRAM buffer was full (of course, it's 4K on 4GB!), so that means that the 8Gb version could handle it a lot better. Moreover, in Forza test 1070 can have some advantage since you can pull the Geometry and Textures up to Extreme and it will make a HUGE difference in visuals, for balancing the performance you could switch the shadows a bit lower or whatever else, but on 2060 this is not an option. Not trying to critisize, just a few things to reflect on. The video is great!

    It's interesting to see how far scaling tech can lower the barrier to 4k, but personally I don't see the point in upscaling to 4k. If you can't play it natively are you really getting any visual quality bump? A thing I've discovered is that playing at the monitor's native resolution makes more of a difference than a strictly higher resolution. I have a 4k monitor for school/photo editing. But I also have a 1080p display to play newer games that I can't run at 4k on my 2060. Aside from the inherent anti-aliasing of the 4k resolution, in terms of sharpness and clarity I'm hard pressed to notice a difference when the monitor is using it's native resolution. In fact when I have headroom on the 1080p display I will use Nvidia's DSR feature and I think it's reasonably indistinguishable from 4k

    • @tourmaline07
      @tourmaline07 Год назад +2

      Found a massive difference going from 1920x1200 24 inch to 4k 27 inch displays , even in gaming with both at native resolution. DSR might help with that but still takes a lot of power to run

      @@tourmaline07 That's not surprising to me. 1920x1200 monitors ime have always been office monitors. With poor response times and contrast ratios so you tend to get a smudgy poor quality picture when gaming on them.

    I used my 980Ti for 4k quite often, in GTA V and War Thunder 60fps was not a problem on max details (with 1530 core, 4000 mem)
    This with Fury X and R9 290X were first cards that had 4k potential without SLI or CF setup imo
    But still... was really disappointed that Cyberpunk was playble only in 1080p on premiere despite Witcher 3 heaving 0 problems in 1440p 60fps with ton of graphic mods on and running on the same engine... oh and they got rid of CF and SLI support too

    • @DrearierSpider1

      Eh, I'd really only include the 980 Ti and R9 290X in that list. The R9 Fury X certainly had decent horsepower for the time, but 4GB was pretty low for a $650 card even back then, and it certainly didn't hold up nearly as well as its Maxwell competitor (particularly at 4K).

    To be fair, we all know the consoles didn't ACTUALLY do 4K, apart from in 2 titles or very, very old games "remastered". They were more like 1440p upscaled to 4K interpolated, and largely locked at 30fps.
    Asking for 4K out of these cards is ridiculous, especially on modern games. Playing much older games in 4K is still viable, and a lot of fun, with titles like Age Of Mythology Extended Edition, Morrowind with Graphics Extender, Stardew Valley - etc.
    But anyone with a 4K display, even if they are using a 43" 4K TV, will not be skimping by spending £100-£200 on a GPU to run 4K gaming unless they have a screw loose.
    Who would pick 4K and high details but 10-15fps, over 1080p and high details and a smooth 60fps? And who would run 4K with FSR/DSR and lowest quality settings just to get that magic 60fps, when the games now look like a washed out messes?
    In short, 4K gaming starts at a 1080Ti / RX 5700 if you want to sacrifice quality settings, but is much more suited to the RX 6700 XT / RTX 2080 territory. All of which can be had at very decent price on the used market. MUCH less than a good 4K or Monitor costs.

    That's odd, I played cyberpunk 2077 with my 2070 on balanced dlss with ultra settings on "3.8k" (samsung odyssey g9 5120x1440) with an average of 65-75fps.
    Probably your capture card fakes the results, like you had very bad cache sync problems (due to disabled vsync).

    rx480 for 4k? I bet there are rx5500/-xt models out there that would be much better for a similar price, or gtx1066 even, why 480?

    • @IcebergTech
      @IcebergTech  Год назад +1

      I'm not planning on being one of those channels that gives people unrealistic expectations of what kind of deals they can get on the secondhand market. In the UK right now you can pick up a GTX 1060 6GB for about £130, and an 8GB RX 5500 XT for £150-160. An RX 480 4GB costs £85-95. Sure, you can find better deals if you're patient and lucky, but these should be achievable by just about anyone.

      @@IcebergTech what about 580? I have to admit, I'm not from uk, so irrelevant, but on our used market there's a number of 1060s and 580s for around 100-105 gbp. Other than 480, everything else was exactly as i would pick myself, no objections there

    • @IcebergTech
      @IcebergTech  Год назад

      @@romanthegambler6966 Yes, the 580 costs about the same as the 480. It's the same card, just with an extra PCIE power socket and ~100MHz higher clocks. As I already have the RX 480 I didn't feel the need to buy a 580.

    Its fun bot nobody buys a GPU to barely play older games. Everybody buys to be somewhat future proof for a few years if possible. These are 1080p cards for at least 2 more years.

      Yeah for the most part but if you just want something to play mostly older games at like 1080p you don't have to buy top of the line or even midrange cards. Honestly most new games don't even seem worth buying

    My NITRO 5 Came with an RTX 3060 and no way it can Run 4K Games any better than 10 FPS or worst. This Video is kind of impossible to Believe because of this. I even Upgraded to 32 GB of Ram and a Great SSD and still do not Run in 4K. RTX 3060 Runs 1080p at HIGH on None-Demanding Games or 1080p Low on High demanding Games. Not even 1080p EPIC on any Game. Somebody is Lying in this Video...
