Most of BT were young trees outside Penang, so lucky to have that deep orangey BT.
According to Mr Leow Cheok Kiang/ 廖石乾, the registered owner of the Black Thorn durian, his oldest tree in Sungai Jawi is about 36 years old. By his educated estimate, black thorns from Pahang area are about 10 years old. I am curious if you guys know the age of the black thorn tree you guys bought and is from what geographical area?
Impressed at your knowledge. According to the seller the durian is from Penang, we are uncertain about the age of the tree, but the flavor of the blackthorn follow the deepest orange colour of the flesh

The year season of Black Thorn is just started but from Penang island,
Maybe You could make a trip there to taste Penang Black Thorn and other variaties of Durian.

The more wrinkly the durian flesh is the older the tree. We know the flesh tastes better from old trees and the 3 durian obviously had the more wrinkles

Hello guys.
Rule of thumb in choosing good quality durian:
always select one that has a really pungent or sharp smell when u sniff it. Bitterness wont be present without sharp or pungent smell.
For BT, i usually would give it a hit around the husk till the spikes become blunt and leave it for few hours before open. Personally, i think it tastes even better if opened the next day.
The 3rd BT looked really good tho. Stay safe guys.

@@LaughingFoodie haha ya coz it was slightly odd-shape and dented at the top-middle part. Try to choose well rounded one next time.
@@perwiranegara4679 is it because it has less seed thus flavour more concentrated?
@@LaughingFoodie yes probably, because the less seeds or pulps inside, the more nutrient they should get.. and that also applies to other varieties as well including Musang King and D24.

Dok mana? Kalu KL saya bule share tempat juai BT harga murah skit. Tapi tu pon harga dalam RM50-60+ gak paleng murah. Bulan lepaih banyak tapi tak taw la ni harga lagu mana 😅😅😅
