I SAID I'd forget something... I forgot to add my recommendation for an alternative to pulp for fine details. I recommend paper clay, which can be used alone or added to paper pulp or layered mache. I have some linked in my Amazon list "supplies". Find my list with my other links on my channel homepage!

Thank you for posting these amazing videos! I just completed my first major paper mache project (it's a dragon's head mask for a DND character I'm cosplaying as) and you've been a massive help!!

I have enjoyed all your videos :) I am in London UK and also love working with paper. Have you tried adding cornflour to take away the stickiness? or have you tried applying it with a palette knife by spreading it on and then add details a while after when it forms a dryer skin? just ideas that have popped into my head as I have watched your video😀

Great ideas! I think I'll stick with my regular pulp over this for the most part, since it's not as sticky, lol.

Thanks! 43 degrees in the Pacific Northwest…l had a box like that for measuring dyes, since the powder is dangerous to breathe!
I worked on some puppets made of paper maché, that were as smooth as porcelain…the artist uses molds, and so the finished surface was in contact with a very smooth form, and I don’t think they even had to sand them! I can’t find that Easter lsland mask….

Hey Scott! Good to see your name pop up! I originally got the idea to add the dust back into pulp from you. Then another viewer gave me the idea to try the dust by itself. I might have seen a metal cabinet online a few years ago that later inspired my sanding box. It was probably available through an industrial shop supplier. Was yours metal?

I could see silicone molds creating a glass- like surface on a paper mixture. I've accidently dropped pulp against glass jars in my studio and when I peeled it off later, it was smooth and shiny on the glass side. Maybe I should try something like that next!

🤗@@createdbyrenee my dust box had been a plastic storage container, with a hinged lid, that could latch closed. I would put everything inside, including a wet towel, for wiping down the surface. It wasn’t too easy to use, and Brenna, my assistant at the time, is short, and realllly had difficulty working with it!
There’s a few good silicone moldmaking videos, using caulk, instead of the expensive stuff. The first one l saw was a taxidermy q&a platform. I’ll see if I can find a link.

Victoria Australia. ( that's south east ish) Summer has not really turned up so far this year.
So it is cool or warm rather than stinking hot at 35C to 46C ///// 95f to 114 f. Currently pleasant in the Celcius teens here.
There is a reason for all this: Climate change = turbulent and unpredictable changes. As more water evaporates from the ocean weather gets really weird.
