Someone wrote in my history textbook "listen to furr by Blitzen Trapper" and now I'm here. It was a fun adventure. Thank you stranger from past history classes.
Just saw this live, completely unexpectedly at the Woodland Park Zoo. Blitzen Trapper opened for The Mountain Goats, and I didn't even know there was going to be an opening band. It was a wonderful performance, made me cry.
No hyperbole, this quite possibly is and will be the greatest lyrics ever written. I had no ideal who Blitzen Trapper were stumbled over to hear it live in Charleston SC at High Water Music festival...blown away.
Heard this song for the first time today. Being 75, this song took me back to the folk and later folk-rock genre of acts such as Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul, and Mary who used animals and other animated objects to express a social message.
An ex-partner introduced me to this song in 2011. I was living in Alaska at the time, and she and I weren't dating quite yet. I liked it then, and I like it now. We haven't spoken aloud since 2016 - it was messy, and I won't get into it here - but I still remember some of the good times, and this song is part of that. Music was a passion we shared.
Saw these guys in Seattle last night. They played this song at the Paramount Theatre, and that was an amazing experience. I've been stuck on the song since. Such great imagery and soul in this song. Love it.
Tomorrow I turn 23 and I grew up under a dogwood tree :''))) my younger sis showed me this song a couple years ago and I randomly put it on yesterday night on coincidence !! Every song she has shown me has extra significance and emotion since she's moved to another state but this it felt just so comforting and just neat cuz of timing
Been following the fellaz for yearz thanks to my pops who was a friend of them. They signed a poster to him while he was going through Chemo which was a loving gesture. Overtime I've seen many shows in many cities and towns and had a many late nights with them afterward. Some as many as 11 yrs ago. One of the fondest was a raging drunk in Tucson while living there a few years back because pops was there too. I had great after show in Portland with them after my sons birth in 2017. I gotta say there's not a more humble group of guys doing it now days. Love y'all. Especially Party 🥳 Marty aka Marty Party. Cheers boys when this whole bullshit pandemic is over we will have many rounds and tokes for tales.
Yeah, when I was only 17 I could hear the angels whispering So I droned into the words and wondered aimlessly about Until I heard my mother shouting through the fog It turned out to be the howling of a dog Or a wolf to be exact The sound sent shivers down my back But I was drawn into the pack and before long They allowed me to join in and sing their song So from the cliffs and highest hill Yeah, we would gladly get our fill Howling endlessly and shrilly at the dawn And I lost the taste for judging right from wrong For my flesh had turned to fur, yeah And my thoughts, they surely were Turned to instinct and obedience to God You can wear your fur Like the river on fire But you better be sure If your makin' God a liar I'm a rattlesnake, babe I'm like fuel on a fire So if you're gonna' get made Don't be afraid of what you've learned On the day that I turned 23 I was curled up underneath a dogwood tree When suddenly a girl, her skin the color of a pearl She wandered aimlessly but she couldn't seem to see She was listenin' for the angels just like me So I stood and looked about I brushed the leaves off of my snout And then I heard my mother shouting through the trees You should have seen that girl go shaky at the knees So I took her by the arm We settled down upon a farm And raised our children up as gently as you please And now my fur has turned to skin And I've been quickly ushered in To a world that I confess I do not know But I still dream of running careless through the snow And through the howlin' winds that blow Across the ancient distant flow And fill our bodies up like water till we know But you can wear your fur Like the river on fire But you better be sure If your makin' God a liar I'm a rattlesnake, babe I'm like fuel on a fire So if you're gonna' get made Don't be afraid of what you've learned
it was on 'chuck' like a year ago.thematically this song goes very well with 'out in the streets' by the shangri-las-give that a listen boys and girls.
I heard this back in American Eagle back in 2009 and HAD to download it... Safe to say, I've been hooked ever since! Working in PacSun especially, I found so so so many incredible, underrated, underground indie artists over the five years I worked there from 2008-2013. It was probably the best part of working there. Not to mention, surprisingly enough, I got to meet a lot of bands/artists -- most excitingly was Saosin (the Anthony Green era) (also my scene/emo era) so you can imagine how happy I was. Great times. And not only did I discover a lot of underground artists working at PacSun, but since I spent so much time in a mall, I was constantly able to discover other underground artists when their music played in other stores. Fantastic. (Look up artists like Bright Eyes, A Fine Frenzy, The Format, + The Forecast if you're into this type of music and trying to branch out!) 💜💜💜
The reason I'm watching this video/listening is because of my best friend james Mcintyre, who is now graduated from my school and is currently attending a distant university. I am now in my Senior year and i miss him very much. He used to play this song in the car (across country roads) on the way to school everymorning. Now this song just instigates powerful nostalgia and i miss my bro. :.)
If you get the chance I HIGHLY recommend doing that in Boulder Colorado in the summer...walk the Boulder Creek path up into the foot hills. I spent the summer there and it changed my Life...such a healer😁❤️
This video is really pretty. God only knows how long it took them to make this. The artwork is beautiful and animation like movements are all really well done. This is one of the more really pretty music videos.
I finally figured it out I’d randomly think of this song that talked about Wolf’s or something but couldn’t totally put my finger on it and here it is!!!

Haha, nice

Aren't there names written in the front of the book- that might help narrow it down a bit...
Listen to Tommy with a candle burning.
this song is so comforting. it feels like summer, childhood, dream, nostalgia and an afternoon. i love this song so much
still feels like that ^^
Perfect description
Not for everyone
Another wonderful song I discovered rewatching Chuck. Man, whoever chose the music throughout the show is a genius
Best romance in tv history imho and best soundtrack. Even though first two and half seasons are much better than the second two and half seasons.
@@MoliikCZE I agree, especially the fifth season was not as far as good as the first ones
same here.
Gotta Love Chuck.
My high school teacher played this to teach us about existentialism and now im hooked on the band, how awesome is that!
Sounds like a Crosby, Stills, and Nash song! I love music like this! They need to bring music like this back! I love folk and country music!!
I get Dylan
@@maddymud Yes, Dylan. That's exactly what I was thinking. Can't be CSN without the 3 part harmonies.
………………………..it is back. ……..you’re listening to it.

I could not agree more.
My band gets to open for these guys next week!! Super excited!!
How did it go?
Yeah what happened

Lol, it's almost 7 years ago, hope he remembers.
Hope it went well
Chuck brought me here! One of the series with the best music!

"My thoughts they surely were turned to instinct and obedience to god" what a great damn line
Fock obedience to everyones imaginary overlord
I love that line, it's so perfect
Right?!?!
Chuck Vs. The Delorean! YEAH!
The message behind this song is great
Heard it once on JJJ in Melbourne Australia and was blown away by it. The imagery is awesome and I'm 62 and have written pop songs all my life...
Found this song on a road trip across the western states of the US, the car was never boring after I found this song
I love this band. I feel like they are something I could share with my mother.

This song makes my heart smile.
It's taken me a decade to find this song again!

this song is beyond amazing. lyrics, singing, and melody are simply stunning.
Yeah, when I was only 17
I could hear the angels whispering
So I droned into the words and wondered aimlessly about
Until I heard my mother shouting through the fog
It turned out to be the howling of a dog
Or a wolf to be exact
The sound sent shivers down my back
But I was drawn into the pack and before long
They allowed me to join in and sing their song
So from the cliffs and highest hill
Yeah, we would gladly get our fill
Howling endlessly and shrilly at the dawn
And I lost the taste for judging right from wrong
For my flesh had turned to fur, yeah
And my thoughts, they surely were
Turned to instinct and obedience to God
You can wear your fur
Like the river on fire
But you better be sure
If your makin' God a liar
I'm a rattlesnake, babe
I'm like fuel on a fire
So if you're gonna' get made
Don't be afraid of what you've learned
On the day that I turned 23
I was curled up underneath a dogwood tree
When suddenly a girl, her skin the color of a pearl
She wandered aimlessly but she couldn't seem to see
She was listenin' for the angels just like me
So I stood and looked about
I brushed the leaves off of my snout
And then I heard my mother shouting through the trees
You should have seen that girl go shaky at the knees
So I took her by the arm
We settled down upon a farm
And raised our children up as gently as you please
And now my fur has turned to skin
And I've been quickly ushered in
To a world that I confess I do not know
But I still dream of running careless through the snow
And through the howlin' winds that blow
Across the ancient distant flow
And fill our bodies up like water till we know
But you can wear your fur
Like the river on fire
But you better be sure
If your makin' God a liar
I'm a rattlesnake, babe
I'm like fuel on a fire
So if you're gonna' get made
Don't be afraid of what you've learned
So I drove into the woods and wandered aimlessly about
Brilliant lyrics & performance! Very petty/dylan-esque 👍👍
*Drove into the winds*

Best song ever. Period.
I can’t stand the feeling of nostalgia. I can’t believe I used to listen to music like this.
