I do a lot of writing. I'm a teacher, and I still make my kids hand in their stuff on paper, so I end up writing all over their work. For pens. Sharpie S-Gels are probably my preferred ones. Bic's dig into the paper too much. Honestly though, my big self indulgence, because I generally write most of my feedback in pencil, with just the formal assessment in pen is my pencils. Every couple years, I spend 50+ dollars for a box of 12 Palamino Blackwing 602 pencils. They are amazing, and totally stupid at the same time. Like, yeah, it is ridiculous to spend that much on regular old manually sharpened pencils, but... it's kinda nuts how nice they feel to write with. Even sharpening a Blackwing is almost an experience, because they make the damn things out of incense cedar, and import their graphite from Japan. Steinbeck, Walt Disney and I think Kafka all used them.
