- Synopsis:
In the early 1960s, more than 3,000 Shanghai orphans were relocated to Inner Mongolia, and Qiqigema adopted Zhenzhen and Yusheng despite her husband's opposition. Eji’s love and kindness, and the ancient milk-performing song on the prairie gradually healed the orphans’ young souls’ pain and made them become true prairie shepherds. However, more than a decade later, their biological parents appeared. How would these orphans make their life choices? "Eji" is the mother in Mongolian, and the Mongolians also call the grassland Eji.

This movie teaches us what humanity is through the grandmother and Qiqigema.
My Mongolian Mother truly describes the nobility of motherhood breaking across all barriers of ethnicity, ideology, language, species and even competitive claims of motherhood from multiple mothers or parents. Truly motherhood is a universal blessing that has ever happened to the world that cannot be bettered by nature or science. Evolution may smoothen the raw edges in our character inherited from our long past but cannot improve an iota over the virtues of motherhood. If there is any ideal for all men of all times to hold high and dear, it is motherhood. Thanks for the makers and actors of this movie which upholds this ideal. I am lucky to have viewed this movie close on the heels of the Mothers" Day in a world that produces film trash by thousands debasing both womanhood and motherhood.

Loved this movie, pulls the heart strings, When the old woman(Grandma) asked if she could still have children, I laugh & cried. The young don't understand but the old ones do. ❤it.
Your children are not necessarily born by you. The Mongolians show us what humanity is. The love of the grandmother for children is boundless. The wise priest gave the best wisdom: "Yes, you can have 6 or 7 more."
I loved this movie. Great human being! If only all the people on this planet behave like these wonderful people, we would be better off.
They are a classic example of pre-capitalist societies. At one time, people on the whole planet *did* behave like these people.
I am not a member of the CPP (communist party of the Philippines) but I like and love to watch Chinese drama and action BETTER than western ones or FILIPINO style. The commune/collective property does not affect how I love the way the story is presented. It deeply touched how these stories similar to PHILIPPINE way of life. . .

Totally agree. A truly beautiful film, and an education. I'm a better man for it. In the West, poetry is usually written to make a name for oneself, whereas in Asian and Arab countries it can make a name for your culture and nation.
