They made his mother healthy & in return they gave them a sick animal. The exchange was not equal. So they took back what they gave. If he hadnt asked them to save his mom, then they probably wouldnt have cared about the sick animal still.

Well actually if you have like a big emotional attachment it would be fine. Like an older or sick pet that you love. The sacrifice of the bull wasn't a sacrifice of any kind, the bull was going to die and it was benefitting them to kill him and remove him as a strain on resources...thats a no no. The sacrifice can't benefit you, it has to be a loss for you.

I do indeed love the stories about the Faes and their cousins and other “family members” and when they take their vengeance, it never gets to be enough. They apparently are so personally offended that they go the distance in making damn sure that whomever did the offending knows what they did. And as this one said, they often don’t leave the offender alive to remember what they did wrong. Many of these are tales of those who don’t believe in them, and find out the hard truth after doing something stupid. However this one was a bit more unique as they did know that they existed and what they were capable of. But as with all humans, they underestimated the ability of knowledge and the fae knew that the Bull was not worth much to the family. If I’m correct that was the offense. Their offering was too low. It had no meaning to the family, therefore it had no meaning to them. That was a mistake that could have so easily been avoided. But then there wouldn’t have been a good ending to the story. people often don't realize Fae in folk lore don't value thing's in the way humans do, they are more of a barter system with value based on perceptions of the owner, they will know if something is considered valuable to you and you never want to set the bar high with things you consider to be very valuable, cause they will expect it every time for anything similar and will take back everything they give if you fail to continue, which would have been the better option over insulting them by giving them something deemed not valuable. At least with quitting they will just take everything back, with offense, you're lucky, or unlucky to live. Add: most people think Fae are nice bubbly things, when those things are seriously dark XD.
