    Finally Frank Hamer gets the recognition he well deserves.
    Bonnie and Clyde were not heroes they were murderers. Hamer was the hero Bonnie and Clyde were not.
    He was a true American hero. There needs to be more recognition of this Texas Ranger than Bonnie and Clyde ever got.
    Let’s interview family members of this Texas Ranger not Bonnie and Clyde’s relatives.

      Zulfikran Zulmos --- That's right Prentiss Oakley fired the first shot without warning which went through Clyde Barrows head - then they ransomed the bullet riddled car for thousands of dollars- after a court battle she the owner took it back to Kansas - they sold all the looted goods for a major sum of money - I don't think Cydes victims received a penny - Old man Methvin was killed later while walking on a road and Henry Methvin was ran over by a train -

      As it turned out, they didn't have to massacre them.
      The first shot by Oakley killed Clyde. Bonnie was in no position to fire back or drive away. I can see where the posse didn't want to take any chances though.

    I had read Mr. Boessenecker’s book several years ago, and just stumbled onto this interview while looking for some period footage of Mr. Hamer. The book is excellent. The story of Frank Hamer as manhunter is phenomenal, and nothing in fiction can approach the courage and nobility of the deeds of these lawmen. Don’t be dissuaded by revisionist “history”. These men served and protected their communities just as lawmen do today, and the final shootout was the last straw after all other avenues had been tried, and the Barrow gang had repeatedly, and cowardly, countered all peaceful attempts to bring them safely onto custody.
    Can’t wait for the next book!

I wish there were more police like Frank Hamer taking down real bad guys and bad cops. Maybe things would be better. Idk maybe im just dreaming. I'm just reading this book. It's a superb biography that sheds light on a man that should be a household name. I can only assume it's because of the mentality of the mob at large who wrongly believe that Bonnie & Clyde were folk heroes. They were cruel, ruthless bastards. Hamer was a straight-as-an-arrow guy, ok, a man of his times, but decent and honourable. What surprised me in the book was the massive extent of lynchings, racism, crooked lawmen and officials and a massively corrupt so-called justice system in Texas at the time. Well done Mr Boessenecker.

    He ambushed them which is a fact, it was fair but the story has changed. B & C had no chance to react and that was noted. Then "guns in hand", Bonnie was holding a sandwich by ALL ACCOUNTS. Hamer was a bad ass but his heart was thumping when he approached the car after the AMBUSH, title of his book as well. He did unload another baragge into a clearly dead Bonnie. Also he robbed the corpses of personal property along with the other 5. Only one and I'm sorry the name escapes me returned Clyde's sax to the family.

    • @musicaltheatergeek79
      @musicaltheatergeek79 5 лет назад +2

      It was reported at the time that they reached for their guns (and a mention of a partially eaten sandwich near the bodies, presumably Bonnie's); the firing without a warning was the revision peddled by B&C sympathizers, which includes some biographers. Thus, the ambush is often left to interpretation, because not all historians agree with the details. Also, the coroner later found a handgun strapped to Bonnie's thigh.
