I'm 71 and this song gave me goosebumps.
Never forget, and NEVER forget, that every single thing that makes your life bearable was won for you by someone's sweat, blood, or outright life. The eight hour day, the lunch break, the federal holiday, the minimum wage -- as inadequate as it is now -- all the result of people, of good fellows just like you, who were willing to put the only thing they had on the line because they could tell that the world was not giving them their fair share, and if not for them, they wanted it for those who came after them. There's a reason that the worker's flag is deepest red, because it represents the only thing the worker has to give, and to lose.

Just dropping a comment to express my appreciation for the "by hand or by brain" line. I'm all for standing up for "the little man", but too many people believe that the little man doesn't include working your ass off for a paycheck at a desk.
Ive done both. Ive got endless respect for desk folks because I couldn't do it.

The ones who worked for Eric, our loved one who was VP when he was 29, all liked him. They say so every year (he died on September 11 in Tower 1) and give precise examples of why. One even said "he came into work early all the time."

Office workers are exposed to humiliating abuse every day and far too often nobody seems to care. Vomiting every morning from the stress, working longer hours without more pay...
And almost all of us use both. Skilled trades, artisans, healthcare workers, scientists, tailors, hairdressers... They see us as just productivity generating units, but in reality, we're all hand workers, and we're all brain workers. And we should be treated accordingly.
As a proud union stagehand this song speaks to me.

Republicanism has been intertwined with socialism for most of it’s history, i find it hard to believe that socialists would have much problem with being anti-monarchist.

I was going to blast this on loop at the UPS strike but they worked out a mostly fair contract a week before we would have gone on strike.
Awww man that would've been epic. Especially since Ken Casey's own grandfather was a Teamster and a big reason he and the Dropkick Murphy's are so strongly pro union.

I have been working for years. Factories construction. My edvaice for young people who will start work don t skip from job to job often no matter how hard work is. Don t spend all your money invest as much as possible and your life will get easier in time
