    Awesome. As I'm about to switch roles (from main support to main solo lane) in our team, this is exactly, what I'm looking for.
    Explaing how to freeze a lame helped a lot. I heard Glaurung talk about it earlier, but I didn't really understand what freezing a lane means. Now I'm enlightened. Thank you so much.

      Honestly, watching videos about/playing league of legends helps a lot with lane control mechanics because early game lane control is so important in that game. If you want to increase your mechanical skill as well as some of your lane control, playing top lane in league can help you out! (I say this as someone who thinks that HotS is better than LoL, but I've noticed that it's helped me out.)

    Funny thing is...this technique is quite common and basic knowledge on DOTA2, it is something I have adopted very early during my transition to HOTS. It's simply cauing a "suicide lane" situation in DOTA 2 on HOTS; You force the enemy out from their towers and move in deeper into your territory.
    This makes it easier for you to bully him, harder for him to soak, and also makes him much more vulnerable to ganks. Denying creeps are replaced by freezing minion lanes so that the enemy gets less exp, while you are safe from ganks.

    One more question mostly to NotParadox, could you do videos about "lategame" plays? I followed the content and I feel that I usually do better in the early game now but somehow the mid-late game always falls apart, it turns out into this rushing mess where I am just trying to be at the right place but It it feels like I am just desperately trying to catch up with so many things happening. Merc camps no longer seem to have a big impact anymore as they are cleared easily and objectives are much much stronger and the teamfight can go from win to loss in an instant. At that point I feel that the macro game feels just "pointless" because even if you managed to gain a bit of an advantage in the early game you can easily loose one objective and that makes a such a huge difference that all the early game work you put in feels like it was for naught.

    Great video man.
    Like you said this stuff applies heavily to high levels of play.
    I am curious if you have any thoughts on how to combat a 4 or 5 man deathball? The one that just goes from lane to lane, camp to camp like a tornado of death and misery.
    The obvious would be to soak safely but it can be a bit like herding cats to get people co-operating or doing smart things sometimes.

    WHY is this important? As said - you gain an experience lead. If you were to push it in hard they can just stay behind the towers and soak the xp. They might get some structural damage, but it should be minimal and you won’t really be gaining an advantage from it. So don’t push a lane hard, only when they’re dead or nobody is there to deny them the xp from the minions. Otherwise you just wanna freeze the lane and if possible get some good trades on your opponent. I’ve been doing this on Dehaka a lot and it’s a great strategy, especially post 4 you can easily trade health with opponent, but I mostly just sit in the bush, looking for a Drag to bully them and I am constantly checking if I can burrow somewhere to help my team. Once I notice no one is coming to the lane only then do I push it to deny them xp.

    • @Scrytheux
      @Scrytheux 6 лет назад

    I'm late to the party, but I've got questions. I understand that you're getting EXP, but from I've seen in-game this leads to about a 30 second level advantage. I don't understand how you AFK farming in a lane and allowing KT to roam and apply pressure to the map is an equal exchange. In LoL, you build up and crash a wave. As you crash you go roam and apply pressure. If your opponent is building a wave, you punish them by roaming and taking objectives/kills. Not to mention your gathering of the minions allows someone like KT to come in, nova the wave, then go back to playing the game (so long as he's intelligent enough to path correctly) Can you explain why AFKing in a lane is more valuable than helping to take camps, secure kills, and pressure the enemy team? Serious question.

  • @djS0nics

    NotParadox could you give a short hint on what to do if the 4-man is losing?
    I struggle a lot with that kind of situation in solo lane.
    Should I help or keep soaking?

    • @Jonjon13Jonjon13
      @Jonjon13Jonjon13 6 лет назад +6

      My say is that you should press YOUR advantage, and tell your 4-man to play safer and not take risks, just soak and be careful.
      If they keep screwing, and you go help, you'll all be screwed anyway probably and you'll lose the advantage you had... unless you make some good ganks or something, I guess.
      On the other hand, by pressing your own lane (or bullying their solo lane so he doesn't get xp) you might keep your team in decent XP, and it might make the enemy call for help so it'll alleviate pressure on the 4-man side.
      Just my 2 cents, I'm no master, but I like to learn and theorize in tactics :P

      Jon_jon13 thanks. This already helps a lot with the decision making in solo lane.

    • @TheLunaFox
      @TheLunaFox 6 лет назад +2

      Many options here, depends on map and character. Lets say youre playing Dehaka on Cursed, a standard meta pick. Your team losses some early trades and it has you down maybe 8-7 in levels. A good strategy you can employ is looking for the fight 5v4. So you start pressuring your lane, clear waves fast and force a response. So you communicate you have your burrow, and as soon as the response comes in, you burrow into the fight or camp invade or whatever it may be, that your team was looking for.
      Another thing you can do is, if youre playing a hero that has pretty strong wave clear and youre on a smaller map like tomb. You can clear your solo lane and rotate to fight with the team and give you an advantage (same concept as the dehaka example).
      You can also communicate to your team to get camps, assuming your comp can do that, and put pressure somewhere on the map and look for a pick or kill elsewhere. Same with calling for ganks on the solo lane. Have someone rotate to you and kill the other hero in your lane, theyre forced to move resources to protect that lane, or you get free push. So either 4v3, or 4v4 and they miss soak and take structure damage.
      Hope this helped :)

    • @nuggitz4011
      @nuggitz4011 6 лет назад +1

      I find this to be a difficult decision too at times. As others have said it's really a circumstantial thing depending on a lot of factors. As a general rule though I'd say never miss the soak unless they are as well for some reason. Usually at least early game the 4 man isn't your problem to deal with besides maybe advice or calling for certain things. Late game if you're split it becomes a much more complicated answer.

    • @leobastian_
      @leobastian_ 5 лет назад

      I personally prefer to freeze The lane until both10,as you then don't Need The xp-Advantage so much and do a Lot more damage to their structures. Especially when You are a aoe solo Like Jaina ,you can try to ignore Front walls(preferably on a 3 lane map we're The next objective isnt spawning in your lane,try to rotate your solo lane after objecs.) and then in the midgame apply huge pressure,while your pushing potencial is wasted at a fort or keep(actually,If You single handly can destroy a keep ,You should do it still,as this helps You alot with pushing.

      When You arent pushing against someone that you cant bully out,(Sonya & co),You should Not Pick that talent. If You can bully, Then Push The mid wall down and then walk away until You gank him from behind. Thanks to the Front mid wall down,You can now easily kill them and WF out. Then You can quest until they are Back. But as a solo laner against a solo laner You should usually dont Go Minion kill quests.

    I honestly haven't seen this strategy used too much in Pro plays...they jsut 4 man roam two lanes and will disturb the solo laner every now and then. No way someone can bully the other solo laner this ez. What normally makes a difference is player's skill level. If you are good as Rich you can bully out anyone,as we see him quite oftenly solo kill other laner. Back to this game. It's not too uneven for kt to solo Leo as both of them has one definitive skill that the other needs to dodge. If Kt can dodge Leo's grab and land his E it would be Leo gets bullied out. At the same time Kt can also choose to freeze the lane and only use his free W to poke. Although overall this is a bit disadvantegous to Kt. For their team comp med maybe a better choice as kt is never considered a solo laner.

    • @DonnieIp
      @DonnieIp 6 лет назад

      Generally, you sit back and soak. Contrary to what NotParadox is saying, this is actually low level play by KT because he kept dying. Also, KT as a solo laner sucks. Always pick a hero that is more flexible and has some sort of sustain.

    • @jairomelchor8024
      @jairomelchor8024 6 лет назад +2

      Like the dude said. Just stay back and soak, there's no need to fight the enemy when you already know you ain't gonna win that 1v1, it would be a waste of HP. If you can poke him, good, otherwise, just stay at the side.

    • @NotParadox
      @NotParadox  6 лет назад +3

      You have to do the opposite. KT would have been fine if he didn't push the lane. He could have safely stayed behind tower and soaked fine. Like what Donnie said, KT isn't a solo laner, but the amount of drafts that don't have a solo laner is pretty decent all the way up to diamond. this game was d1/masters so these people are not idiots.
      Put simply, let the enemy push and deal with it when it gets to your towers. Watch for their rotations and act with them. Call out missings as when they push it to your tower they can gank a lane or do a camp so look for camps that you can possible poke them during the camp.
      Playing from behind in a solo lane is only really bad when you need to hold on objective. For a map like this being behind in a solo lane is fine, just soak normally and wait for power spikes.
