Starting with my first sprint distant Tri in 13 weeks, I was so nervous but your videos have really helped so much in showing me how to train, keep up the great work : )
It looks like you were doing some running on Fiesta Island here in San Diego! Small world! I did a practice half IM on fiesta yesterday, and cramped on the run, which brought me to this video. Thanks for all the tips!
4:51 rack your bike in your own spot and don't infringe on the space of your neighbors. It would be a shame to find your bike damaged when you come to retrieve it after the race.
Brick runs bricks and then just when u think you've done enough brick runs.... MORE BRICK RUNS!!!!🤗🤗🤗😂 speaking of running though I just started trying interval training and am having a hard time getting my heart rate back down to zone 2. Any suggestions I end up running at such a slow pace I feel like I should just be walking
Connor there is nothing wrong with a walk between really hard intervals, or try doing hill reps so you can jog recover down the hill to give your HR more chance of dropping quickly.
Radio Station I have experienced the same in the past. I'd look at your bike position and address your hip flexor length beforehand. If it's not from hip flexors then it could equally be down to your nutrition so look at that too. Good luck.
Hi, I was wondering for a longer distance race such as a ironman 70.3. Should I race with compression socks to help relieve pressure after the bike? also should I race with cycling socks or running socks? Thank you and great video as usual
Yahya Baali If you don't usually run in compression socks then do not change anything for race day. As for socks many athletes don't even wear socks on the bike and comfort in your running shoe is far more important so I'd always opt for running socks for the bike and run over that distance. Hope that helps. H
you dont actually need that much. around 6K is enough. There is not really much use to run more besided putting more stress onto your system. IF that is what you want and you do it only once, then do it. Otherwise I wouldnt
RobandDana Duxbury That's a lot of running and not needed. I'd recommend keeping your brick runs shorter then putting in another quality run away from the bike.
How do you combat the feeling of jelly legs? Let us know!
Remind myself that it is the beginning of the end, smile and if possible run with someone and have a chat.
Lots of Brick sessions.Perfect practice makes perfect.
Big thumbs up to raising bike cadence. Which reminds me, doesn't Fraser owe us a video on "under-gearing"? ;)
I have nothing to suggest due to lack of experience and acquired knowledge, but am wondering if GTN running bottle would help :).
@@john12mclaughlin we'll pass that one on to him ;)
Love the jelly feeling, feels like I’m floating for the first 2km
Rohan h lucky you, wish we all floated that easily!

Awesome - Good Luck!!
Jason thanks for that and best of luck in your first tri!
2:03 Fiesta Island, San Diego!
Ryan oh we miss it too!
I love seeing that you're still showing clips from your time in So Cal!
It happens naturally when I get off the bike and straight into a run my cadence is always higher than normal but it doesn’t feel bad or jellyish

Thank you so much for making these great videos! Love all the tips and perspectives, it is a genuine service!
Brick training! I ride then run race pace everytime I get off the bike
John Nye that is dedication!
@@heatherfell_oly thanks
It works for me. The other night I ran 2miles after an hour ride. 6:40 for both !
super good video, super helpful tips!!!!
Glad you found it useful! 😀
Why combat the feeling of jelly legs? It’s the sign of a solid bike leg and I look forward to it!
trbeyond that's one way to look at it ;0
I thought the heading said" how to run faster than a bike" oh well!
Great video guys, perfect timing to remind me to put some brick sessions in. Next event just over two weeks away!!!
Phill good luck with your next race!
cyclist and just beginning my running (inspired by Boston 2023). Thanks!
Awesome 🙌
of course our bike performance will be enhanced by that wonderful swim before, but can we maximise on that as well?
What's the secret to not cramping on the run? Particularly front quads?
Keep an eye out, we'll be making a video on this soon!

Can I still get that GTN Tanktop somewhere?
someone please tell me the guy at 6:29 isn't Dan Lloyd
Dj Camo well spotted ;)
🕵️♂️
How embarrassing for him. 😳
Not only was he riding on aero bars he was wearing a GTN kit!

I have this problem of getting a side stitch every time I do a hard run off the bike. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much and yes that helps a lot.
Cadence is partly a factor of power. Increasing cadence for a given force will increase power
EatRideGrow actually personally myself I go faster when grinding a lower cadence than a faster one
@@DanielMooreDJ Then you increase your force and decrease your cadence. Your power output might be the comparable
Is it possible to run too much for a brick workout? I do a long bike then and hour or more run after at close to race pace.

I run fastest on the bike.
I'm off to have a crack at that then
Nicholas let us know how you get on!
Run faster off the bike? As opposed to running faster while on the bike 😬
