I believe God created me for His Glory. The only way to receive God's eternal blessing for my life is to live according to His plan, His promises & His will for me. As revealed in The Bible & the Holy Spirit. The more I surrender to Christ, the more I glorify The Father in Heaven. In so doing, I receive more Grace, more Life & the more I can be a blessing to others. Surrender to Win ❤

Mr Piper is lovely. I appreciate this man of God but He forgot to mention here the articulation that salvation is by believing also in:
Christ's perfect sinless life credited to us, and he left out THE RESURRECTION. Which is PARAMOUNT.
Because if Christ wasn't raised from the dead , st. Paul says our faith is worthless!

@1:33 he said *_"But now, by faith, I am forgiven, and now by faith I am justified . . . "_*
This is the usual "faith alone" sleight of hand.
James points out that Abraham was NOT justified to God "by faith only." James 2:24.
Abraham acted on his faith and obeyed God. For *that* we was justified to God, and was deemed to be a believer.
We are all sinners in need of God's mercy and grace. The question of the day is:
*"Who gets God's mercy and grace?"*
Answer: It's those who obey and come to Him in repentance: seeking God, with a heart and mind committed to confessing and forsaking sin:
⚫ "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30)
⚫ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)
⚫ "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him . . . " (Isaiah 55:7)
If we'll obey and come to Him in repentance, our past sins will be mercifully blotted out:
⚫ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Peter, in Acts 3:19, NKJV).
Did you catch that? Our sins were neither blotted out nor paid for the moment Jesus died on the cross. Our sins remain-and we'll pay for them ourselves-unless we come to repentance. That's why Jesus warned:
⚫ "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Jesus, in Luke 13:5)
Now compare that to what Mr Piper said @ 0.42: "sins were paid for" (the moment Jesus died on the cross). The "faith alone" theology goes on to say that since sins have all been paid for, sin is no longer a salvation issue . . .
Peter makes it clear: come to repentance, or else perish:
⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
Jesus died for our sins, as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3. With His death He made a ransom payment available; He made His death, His blood, *available* to cover the death penalty we've earned (Romans 6:23) for sin. We can have that mercy, that coverage, that redemption-as promised-IF we'll come to Him in repentance.
That's why Jesus instructed His disciples to preach "repentance and remission of sins." Not "faith alone." Not "faith + nothing = salvation." Not "just trust Jesus did it all for you":
⚫ "Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that *repentance and remission of sins* should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:45-47)
Now, how many times did Mr Piper mention repent or repentance in the video? NONE. Which is typical of those preaching "faith alone." So please beware.
What did John the Baptist preach? Come to repentance . . . receive mercy: remission of sins:
⚫ "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins." (Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3)
How did Ninevah receive mercy? They "turned from their evil way":
⚫ "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." (Jonah 3:10)
Here's what Jesus had to say about Nineveh:
⚫ "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here." (Jesus, in Matthew 12:41)

Is the gospel for everyone? For all creatures? Or only a small pre-chosen elect?

This is why Sunday Christianity has a false gospel. The teaching of salvation, is being called the gospel. It is not.
It is ONLY what Jesus said it be, and it's not the lengthy, complicated need for a savior gospel.
      Mk. 1:14-15, he said gospel.
      Mt. 25:14, he said gospel.
Repent, thy kingdom come, is the gospel.
No wonder Christ hasn't returned. Another gospel is the status quo gospel.

The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM!
Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21
    Matt 24
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Jesus said the Father is the only true God!

  • @frankmerendino1855

Piper entirely misses the gospel of the kingdom. It's what Jesus came preaching, "your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." The announcement of the king winning victory and taking the throne is what a 1st c. understanding of the euangellion was. It should inform any explanation of the gospel today.
The gospel is the the royal announcement of the king's victory. Look at any of the sermons in Acts, or 1 Cor. 15, and one sees this preached. The gospel is the announcement of what Jesus did...it's the story of Jesus the Messiah. Justification and forgiveness are included as the benefits of the gospel, but not the gospel proclamation itself. The big picture is that Gid has launched his saving and restorative project on earth through Jesus the king and his Spirit. God is not only seeking to forgive and restore people to himself, he is seeking to form a new creation, a people restored in love for one another. This is the kingdom of God, it brings people together in love into new creation under the gracious rule of King Jesus. The call is to join up with Jesus and his people by faith and allegiance to him as messiah and lord.

Too bad a lot of people will "buy" Mr Piper's version of the gospel: "just have faith Jesus died for you on the cross, and you'll be saved" . . . no obedience required, no repentance required. But wait: who gets the holy spirit? Those that *_obey_* Him, as Peter stated in Acts 5:32:
_"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."_
So, how do we obey God? We choose to turn from our own ways and then seek God and His ways. In other words, we repent:
_"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent"_ (Paul, in Acts 17:30).
Connecting the dots here, Peter said if we'll obey by repenting, then we'll receive the holy spirit:
_"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost"_ (Acts 2:38).
On the cross Jesus made available a ransom, His death in place of ours. By that ransom we can be redeemed from the death penalty we have each earned for our sins IF we'll choose to turn from sin, sin that earned us the death penalty to begin with. If we choose not to turn from sin, we remain unredeemed and will surely perish for our sins. That's why Jesus said
_"except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish"_ (Luke 13:3,5).
Mr Piper really should have mentioned these things. How could a presentation of the gospel be complete without even mentioning obedience and repentance? In Hebrews 5:9 we read that Jesus is "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that _obey_ him."

The Bible Says I pray for you and love you but I must speak the truth in love:
and we are harsh with the proud and gentle with the humble--
you're a false teacher preaching works righteousness. Or was Jesus wrong?
"What works must we do to do the works God requires?"
Jesus replied, "the work of God is this: believe in the One whom He has sent!"
Please PLEASE read the book of Galatians and romans 3-4.
Be SURE 100% sure you know how to be right before God. Your own "righteous" attempts are filthy rags!
"For all have sinned fallen short of glory of God!"
"For we maintain that a man is justified by FAITH apart from WORKS of the Law."
Before you would say the Law was Old Testament, it is defined as "sin is the transgression of the Law" in the New Testament.
"For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH, and this is not of your selves, NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast!"

    • @TheBibleSays
      @TheBibleSays 7 лет назад +3

      The apostle Paul wrote:
"For by grace are ye saved _through_ faith . . . " (Eph 2:8)
The verse does not say "For by grace are ye saved because ye _have_ faith . . ."
You see, it is THROUGH faith that we SEE or accept or realize that we have a REAL choice to make: to change direction and follow God, or, to just continue on our own way. The Bible explains that faith is necessary in order for us to CHOOSE to come to God:
"without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). What MATTERS is the CHOICE we make: to come to God; NOT just faith, just seeing that there IS a choice.
As the apostle James wrote, "faith without works is dead." True believing goes beyond faith, beyond thinking this or that is true: true believers act on their faith and obey. Yes, we are saved by grace. So, who gets the grace?
Abraham had righteousness imputed to him. Why? Because he obeyed. Abraham's "works" was his obedience to God. Abraham chose to obey God THROUGH the faith he had in God's promises:
*_"By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went"_* (Hebrews 11:8).
*_By_* or *_through_* faith he REALIZED he had a real choice to make, AND he *_chose to obey._* Abraham did not receive the promised blessings just because he thought God's promises were real! In Genesis 26 verse 5 the Lord explained to Abraham's son Isaac that Abraham received the promised blessings because of his *_obedience._* Here it is in Genesis 26:5:
*_"Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws"_* (Genesis 26:5).
Faith without commitment, without action, is useless. Nothing changes. If Abraham had stayed home, his faith would have been dead. Abraham acted on his faith; his works, his obedience brought *_life_* and perfection or COMPLETION to his faith, making him a *_believer._* James wrote about Abraham:
*_"Seest thou how faith wrought [worked with or had synergy with] with his works, and by works was faith made perfect [complete]? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only"_* (James 2:22-24).
Those three verses illustrate the difference between faith and true believing! Works, obedience, makes the difference. And righteousness was imputed to Abraham. Why? Not just because he had faith!
Are there other verses showing we must obey? Yes. In Hebrews 5 verse 9 we read that Jesus is
*_". . . the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him."_*
There is nothing in that verse about being saved by "faith alone"! We are saved by grace. So, the question of the day is, WHO gets the grace: is it those that think they have grace because they think this or that is true? Or is it those who _through_ faith choose to obey? Like Abraham, we must truly believe: we must act on our faith and obey. True believers obey and choose repentance. "Faith alone" is not enough!
Who receives the holy spirit? Here's Peter's answer: *_"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him"_* (Acts 5:32). Apparently "faith alone" is not enough!
It helps to understand that "works" means different things in different contexts. There are "works" of obedience to God, like Abraham's. And there are "good works" or good deeds done out of love for neighbor (Ephesians 2:9,10; James 2:15-17). And there are the "works of the law" such as circumcision. Neither good deeds nor the "works of the law" can ever earn redemption to God.
We can only be redeemed - from the death penalty we've earned for our past sins - with the ransom Jesus made available on the cross. That redemption is available, by grace, IF we'll choose to turn from sin, sin that earned us the death penalty in the first place.
Who gets mercy, who gets forgiven and redeemed? Here's Proverbs 28:13:
*_"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."_*
Without obedience and repentance, we'll remain unredeemed and will surely perish in death for our sins. That's why Jesus said *_"except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish"_* (Luke 13:5). There is nothing in that verse about being saved by "faith alone"!
Again, we are not saved by having faith, by thinking something is true. We are saved by grace, received through faith - a true believer's faith, like Abraham's, made perfect or complete by obedience.
The "faith alone" perversion of the gospel is directly contradicts Jesus' words to His disciples after His resurrection:
"Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that *repentance and remission of sins* should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:25-47)

Pretty limited understanding of what the Gospel is. The gospel is not only about Christ's death and our forgiveness and salvation. The Gospel is good news about the King and his kingdom. Christ died, rose again, was seated at the right hand of God on the throne, and will come again! Yes, this has benefits for us who believe, but the gospel is not about us. It's about the King!

Infact that's why people are experts still studying the Wordy, Intellectual Gospels In the Bible All four of them known as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I would respectfully disagree. Both of us would agree that unless the Holy Spirit draw a man, he won't see the kingdom of God. You can't approach an all-powerful spiritual God with your intellect. He won't allow it. That is why people say it's your 'heart' that has to come. The gospel is more of a life exchange than a life change. the life exchange causes the life change. Paul said that if anyone brings a different gospel than the on he brought, a curse be upon them. So 'to each his own' doesn't work. Shalom

I absolutely agree with you, but we must do our best to explain the Gospel within their context.
"20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings." 1 Corinthians 9:20-23
I absolutely agree with that the Content of the Gospel must be unchanging, but there is nothing wrong with explaining it in different words. Lest we'd all be speaking in nothing, but Greek and Hebrew.

Why did Paul say this in Acts 20;:21, "I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike--the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus." Also, in Acts 17:30 "God overlooked people's ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him."Acts 26:20, "First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds."

14 Later on, after John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News.[a] 15 “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”
