This is my favorite live version of this song, for a couple of reasons. I love the interactions that happen on stage, I love the sway of the audience, it was also the last big tour or at least major recording with Brent. This song is beyond words, and a wonderful homage to JJ. It's perfect.

@@farmalltractor Indeed, but I know many heads that feel the same. Brent was an outstanding era and many of us tried hard to like Vince and what he brought to the sound. Hornsby was a drop in and the resident guest during a transition period.

@Mark Green Yep, it is horrid and I don't know one Dead Head in my circle that thinks Bruce on accordion was a good sound. Everybody has their opinions, my opinion is Bruce with the GD mostly sucks. My preference is for the old sound when Brent was rocking the house.

Peter Rowan tells a great story about how he met Jerry Garcia. He was visiting a friend who lived in Jerry's neighborhood. Said that Jerry was playing his banjo and there was a sign at the gateway to his house that said "San Souci" ("No Worries). They met that day, played music together and the rest is history. I always think about how great it would have been to live next door to Jerry Garcia.

Old-school MIDI technology, musical instrument digital interface, either built into his guitar I'm pretty sure that or a pre effect going into the amp, MIDI basically turns your guitar into an entry level keyboard with a bank of different instrument tones, depending on your software

A sad if nice version. Fluid and sweet but weak. The end is near and one can feel it. Jerry's singing is barely audible but his playing is magic as usual. After Donna and Keith left and Jerry's stroke in 1979 they were never as good again IMHO as their UNIQUE 1968 to 1978 era when they were the best band in the world. Never thought much of Brent. The lightness and fluid rhythms were gone and we are mostly in country Rock stuff that I like less than the acid blues of the late 60s and the mid 70 Blues for Allah jazz acid stuff that was unique and unequaled by others, while others do good country rock as well (Allman Brothers, Beach Boys, Creedance Clearwater).
