If you already have a shop with items but no Niche, how to you revamp your shop once you come up with a niche? Do you open a new shop?

Great stuff! I've been wondering for a while with all these search/rank tools, when the results come up, how much of the data might be because sellers are doing research on just these topics so the true results get skewed? Is there a way that that isn't taken into consideration?

Hey! We haven't heard much about this. Considering the number of active buyers to sellers (about 95 million to 7.5 million), it doesn't seem the results could be skewed too much. But thanks for pointing this out, it certainly is an interesting question!

Is Etsy giving you a data API feed or something? Where is the data coming from?

Guys, that was a little over the top with bashing general stores. If you’re a new seller reading this, the TRUTH is, searches on Etsy lead to individual listings in the results, not shops. You don’t need to be a “Pottery Barn” to be able to understand and speak to the target customer for your shirt design. FYI: Walmart had $648 Billion in global revenue last year. Pottery Barn had $3.5 Billion. So don’t let this biased approach be discouraging or believe you must choose a single niche first. Starting with a general store is a viable path to discovering a niche that becomes your go-to audience and focus. Also understand that the top 5 six-figure sellers that most people are following on RUclips all have general stores.

Prioritize the fun otherwise why bother. Yes. As an artist I totally have to do that vs just looking for random bestsellers. Snooze.
