I love that you go back and forth between the dots, almost like practicing your stroke before you touch the marker to the page and follow through. I'm going to try that.
Dude. I was really in need of someone saying what you did. I'm a product design student and in one of those phases of not thinking I'm good enough. Thank you.
please do it quickly I really like the way you explain and demonstrate. it is awesome. thanks for the current lecture, its awesome, especially I like the way you do ghost lining.
I've left the sketching for about an year... tbh I miss it a lot.. I love it when a people just sketch a thing and say how you should be constant not just to give up.. It's quite motivational. Thank you.
I'm right in this stage where I'm afraid of never getting better, therefore refusing to take challenges out of anxiety. And it's stupid. Thanks for what you said. I wish I could hammer in my mind the fact that I HAVE to fail in order to get better and throw this counter productive fear away.
that was excellent. I am not an artist but draw every day and post on instagram. I love Scott Robertson's work and I visited the FZD studio in Singapore. Love watching videos like this. Thanks for sharing
That was really interesting to watch. I am going to try some of the subtle techniques you used. Thank you for sharing your talent. Eric central Florida
Thank Jimmy Diresta for my view Derek.. I was once a decent artist, But haven't drawn in 35-40 years but have some canvases & need to work at this some, It's a perishable skill just like shooting a pistol or anything else.. Nice drawing.. Looks 3D.. Gary/Hk
Copic. Make sure to get copic pens too to keep from a lot of smearing of outlines. Start small to see if you like. The paper is close to a tan toned paper sketchbook
Dhruv Mistry hi there. There are masters programs out there. Notre Dame and Massachusetts College of Art and Design offer programs for instance. There are many others.
Hi, i am new to design drawing and am just getting started, i have a small question..most people..at the end of a drawing..draw a square around the maib drawing...why do you do it? And is there a name for it?
The Grid hi! I believe you are referring to a vignette. You will see designers place a square or other object or shape behind the primary illustration as a means of setting the main object apart from the background. It can also help to make a more dynamic composition.
Actually, I am a beginner who learns to draw and I don't have Copic and drawing stuff. my question: what the different drawings on paper vs iPad? if iPad works better on drawing I gonna get one.
I use my iPad all the time now and it's a fantastic tool. I do find that drawing with pen and paper helps to develop a lot of technique and confidence. You don't need anything special to practice - just some printer paper and ballpoint pen will do. An iPad won't make you draw better but it is really great and really streamlines workflow in my opinion.
Matthew Ward hi Matthew. Yeah I did this for a site called Advanced Design Sketching at the tail end of 2016 and Core 77 picked it up. Thanks for watching.
Oh my, I can't stand those Bic pens. :p The weight, the ball-point scratchiness, the facets, the lid, the tightness of the clasp. In my nightmares, I am sentenced to an eternity in hell with only a Bic pen for companionship. But the Copics and Tombows, mmmm.
You made sketching video into a motivational video. Thank you.
I love that you go back and forth between the dots, almost like practicing your stroke before you touch the marker to the page and follow through. I'm going to try that.

Thank you! its always good to pick up some stuff from different artists

It just occurred to me while watching that you're left handed, like me. It feels nice to see.

Can anyone tell me what kind of markers are those? And if you know the name of the paper
A couple of marker brands: Copic and Kurecolor. There are other brands too. The paper he is using is Strathmore, perhaps a slightly thicker one .
Those are Copic markers
Copic. Make sure to get copic pens too to keep from a lot of smearing of outlines. Start small to see if you like. The paper is close to a tan toned paper sketchbook
So Satisfying!
Ok his amazing shading aside, i think what really made his drawing pop was his highlights. His white pencil is THICCCC. What brand is he using?
Thanks. Prismacolor
are there any masters course available for product designing ?? or there are only diploma courses
Dhruv Mistry hi there. There are masters programs out there. Notre Dame and Massachusetts College of Art and Design offer programs for instance. There are many others.
What marker did he use?
I think those are the regular copic markers
What was the pen you were using at the beginning? Actually it might be good to see a list of materials in the description.
Karl Pountney hey Karl, copic neutral gray 0, pilot razor point, papermate flair pen, pentel sign pen and a white prismacolor pencil.
What kind of pen and paper u r using for sketching?
Vignesh A this was on strathmore toned gray paper using copic 0 neutral grey marker and a pilot razor point pen.
