- The tragic story of a young boy,s life lost over a lottery win in Sydney Australia. young Graeme Thorne was tragically kidnapped and murdered when his parents won the opera house lottery in 1960 . his death was a crime that shocked Australia and created lottery winners to have the option to remain anonymous in all future lotteries in NSW.

Great though tragic story Julia. I've seen the Crime Investigation Australia coverage of this story, and I'm glad the murderer ended up rotting in jail. Definitely makes you want to tick the box "Do not disclose my identity"!

Oh Julia! This is absolutely tragic. This crushes my heart for this family and the loss of their son. I was alive in the states but never heard this story before now. It is horrible to me how anyone can take the life of a child. It is an insidious mind that could do something that cruel. It breaks my heart. I do pray he is resting easy with his parents in God's arms. Bless you for bringing it to us to remember him by. 🙏♥️

Hi Peter , hope your well , yes his killer died in prison and buried in Goulbourn cemetery , horrible crime , my dad was a fanatic lotto player and always picked anonymous because of this tragedy
Yes I was in grade 5 when it happened and a lot of parents watched over their kids a lot closely after this horrible act.

That’s a terrible story, poor kid, just terrible, lottery winners are said to be cursed (even in this day)
Honestly killing a child that fellow should have been hung by the neck until dead, wouldn’t bring the boy back but the punishment would fit the crime.

This is a such a sad story of what happen to this poor little angel..it puts a lump in your throat just to think about it, neverless to speak about something like this is hard ..every time i run up on a child grave it seem like it takes a little peice of u wih it ..I am Glad u said the what the Sidney police are the one who caught the sucker who done this? Hi Elaine , research showed Cheryle suffered from a severe handicap and had to be placed in an institution for the handicapped to live for the rest of her life

it's a horrible crime , you just can't comprehend how someone can kill a child 😔 thanks for watching
My niece was 24 when she was murdered in 2006 and her remains were found in 2009
It's still a cold case. They know who the murderer is they just don't have enough evidence supposedly.
