Roseanne Lindley purportedly had a band called the Casual Girls back in the 80s, but I haven't been able to find any recordings or video of the band, or Roseanne herself, not even a still photograph. I've long been curious to know what David Lindley's daughter might look like!
@@lastnamefirst4035 , at a Richard Thompson gig in a small club in the early 90's, Richard said to the crowd and I quote, " you all know David Lindley, he's alright, ain't he? [Richard smiles wryly]. Well, he's got a daughter, and she's got a band.....called the Casual Girls". I started to ask "do they [have a record?]" but Richard launched right into another song, cutting me off and so he never heard me. I don't recall anything leading up to his remark about Lindley's daughter, the thought just seemed to pop into his head out of nowhere. BTW, back in the 80s, Lindley, Thompson, and Steve Morse all toured together as a triple-bill. I didn't see them on that tour ( darn!) but I interviewed Morse by phone and asked him about the the experience; he characterized it as "two extroverts and one introvert" ( but didn't say which was the introvert ---- probably Thompson, is my educated guess) and commented that the other two "held up their end of the bargain very well".
@@goodun2974 weird that richard thompson said that kinda outta context w no follow up info. Perhaps he was dating her or hoping to be. Ill let u know if I find any info on Roseanne
@@mvinge , it's borrowed from a Lightnin' Hopkins song, "Aint It Crazy (to keep on rubbin' like that)". There's video on RUclips of Lindley and ElRayo-X playing "Aint It Crazy", New Orleans-style. Ry Cooder's version of "I Can Tell ( by the way you smell)" borrows some of the lyrics as well: "hey now Mama, look at Sis, she got her hands in her poodle, plumb up to her wrist/ she been doing somethin' wrong....I can tell, by the way she smells". Lyrics like those got Ry and David in some trouble with the censors when they toured Indonesia and Southeast Asia some tears ago!
@@mvinge , at a slide-guitar workshop and blues jam in Canada some years back, a local guy played an altered and reimagined version of "Dust My Broom"; Martin Simpson (terrific British fingerpicker, in multiple idioms of music) was having a drink of water just as the other guy sang "I ain't gonna choke my chicken no more" and Martin just lost it, snorting the water out through his nose and mouth, half-choking with laughter!
@@mvinge , Cooder & Lindley are always good for some racy lyrics: "Mama and Papa on the front porch swing/ Mama showin' Papa how to use that thing/ They been doin' somethin' wrong....". And then, there's "Hold That Snake", another racy one which Ry also plays! (Google the lyrics; might be a good one for your jam session).
The most favorite song within Ry's album "Paradise & Lunch", and the album is one of the best records all through my life.
It's a great album, I like Ditty wah ditty. Have you seen this one? ruclips.net/video/ECtee15j6Ew/видео.html

That's the best part. I'm totally stealing that line for my 12 bar blues jams lol
