Just to prove David Starkey was talking rubbish about we don't have a separation of powers.
From the liberty judgment (and don't forget what the Queen said in 1988 to parliament).
"115. The principles of Parliamentary sovereignty and the separation of powers have
their genesis in the common law and it the duty of the courts to protect those principles.
In Miller II the Court stated that deciding an issue of legality:
“34. … will not offend against the separation of powers. As we
have just indicated, the court will be performing its proper
function under our constitution. Indeed, by ensuring that the
Government does not use the power of prorogation unlawfully
with the effect of preventing Parliament from carrying out its
proper functions, the court will be giving effect to the separation
      of powers.”
The issue under Grounds II and III is whether those constitutional principles are
violated when the Executive uses a statutory power to make subordinate legislation for
an object and purpose which it has earlier failed to achieve by primary legislation."
The won on this point - separation of powers. Her Majesty the Queen made a declaration to BOTH house of parliament on 20th July 1988 stating the independence of the Judiciary is the corner stone of our constitution. paraphrasing.
Betty Boothroyd said similar to the courts in 1993.
Ashby vs White 1703 was about the right to vote and enforcing separation of powers (you cannot be a Judge in your own cause, ENGLISH maxim. Full Judgement from the archives NOT online.

That’s because the authors were in the club.
Eric Blair (George Orwell) was introduced to the Fabian Society by Aldous Huxley, writer of Brave New World. There, Orwell learned the elite’s future plans. So he wrote a novel that’s supposed to be fiction.
Orwell didn’t predict anything. He saw the script: cashless society; mass surveillance; world government etc.
He named his novel 1984 as homage to the Fabian’s centenary. The real year is around now.

Echoing Trevisio here, many people think 1984 describes the Eastern Bloc and the Soviet Union. That is true but more importantly it describes everyone else, especially the West.
It is not politicians use 1984 as a textbook. It is more of 1984 describing how politicians of every corner of the globe operate.

Not recognising London, especially the language being spoken by younger people - white kids wanting to sound like Jamaicans and the nihilism spawn from this cultural shift. David nailed this in a Newsnight interview and was pilloried for it .. but he was accurate in his social observation .....have been watching his broadcasts the last 14 years, this one being the most insightful. The Equalities act and the dismantling of the office of Lord Chancellor , how we've all been fooled.... highly recommend Jacob Mchangama's book Free Speech , also Fran Furedi's book on Borders

BLiar was nothing more than an opportunistic charlatan.
He's actually of aristocratic lineage, there's the Blair Athol estate in Perthshire.
He was educated at Fettes College, the Scottish equivalent of Eton. Blair was probably molded into the creature he became at this serpentine institution.
He became an MP in 1983, aged 29 following a brief career in law in which, he never passed the B.A.R. exam.
I believe the marriage to Cherie Booth was more than likely orchestrated to make BLiar appear 'working-class'. She was just another opportunistic entity who knew that her husband would go far in politics (She never truly liked her humble roots).
Now, the matter of John Smith's death. Highly suspicious if you ask me. The Establishment had already begun the infiltration of the Labour Party since Kinnock's tenure but Smith wanted to retain unions, worker's rights, secure borders and less control from Brussels.
The Establishment didn't like this. Smith's convenient death in 1994 opened the door for BLiar and the rest is history.

Really Starkey - A government nobody wants is the one currently in power and the one about to be dismissed by the electorate - A government over the last 14 years of incessant lying, of deceit, corruption and incompetence, a government who has shown utter disrespect for the common people, our Parliament our democracy, international law even our late Queen. In fact the worse government in living memory - The negative social and economic damage the current government leaves in its wake will not be forgotten by those it has affected the most (the common people) for a very long time. Wake up. There hasn't yet been a government that I have wanted. My vote has counted towards the election of someone once in UK elections, national or local, in 50 years of voting. Hayek didn't understand how another road to serfdom was corporatism. That's what neoliberalism is and that is what both main parties offer. We didn't go back in 1660, we created a new establishment run by asset-rich, or otherwise wealthy, oligarchs who have dominated Parliament directly or indirectly ever since. The only thing that has saved us is the rule of law, which the Tories are now undermining, prompted by oligarch-funded think-tanks and a seriously compromised and subservient media. Trump is a criminal. People like Truss and Farage back him. This link between the neoliberals and lawlessness first struck me when a former minister of education, Gillian Shephard, hosted the criminal Archer, a former chair of the Tories, when he broke the conditions of his weekend release from gaol. Gove is a criminal. Johnson consorts with spies and breaks laws and conventions. Criminal oligarchies are not much better than mafias. The Crown underpins these oligarchies. they only get away with things whilst the economy is growing. When they still syphon off wealth when the economy is stalled, their impact is felt more strongly and people fight back out of self-preservation. that's the point we are at now, though neither bigger party has realised it.

Friedman and Hayek opposed Keynes which produced the highest standards of living never seen before, and its reversal by the policies of Hayek and Friedman or the Mont Perlin Group to which they belonged, has destroyed everything that was good in this country. All we are left with now is the claim its all down to migrants.
