I came across this track randomly while listening to a "dark academia" playlist and reading... you guessed it, The Secret History. talk about a coincidence! I'm so happy I discovered it, the album has quickly become one of my favourites.
does anyone know if this song/just the title is inspired by donna tartt's novel?? what a gorgeous song, it totally suits the book even if that wasnt the original intent
Thank you! I do love that book - it's one of the few I've read more than once - but it wasn't the inspiration for this piece. This piece was inspired by the city of Venice and some of my travels there. Long story, but it's my favorite piece on "The Architect" - thanks for enjoying it!
The Architect has been the soundtrack to the first draft of the book I'm writing so far; there's a perfect balance in the music between evoking emotion and allowing for headspace. I always find myself coming back to this piece in particular, there's something really hypnotic about it.
I have something called Audio-tactile synesthesia which means i can physically feel sounds This peice of music causes me to feel what i can only describe as the birth of a sun Its intense waves of heat and the charge of electircity that just explodes all around me I can feel the waves of each string as they riople throughout my body This is one of my favorite somgs to feel, it is trully an amazing experience
OMG. I thought I was the only one with tactile synaesthesia (for me, it's not just audio - it's also often olfactory and gustatory, and occasionally it's visual. Yes, this makes for a great deal of sensory overload). And yes, my nerves found this piece intense, although I didn't feel it in a way that felt like sunlight. More like electrified taffeta. Your description is far more poetic, though!
@@soletmegetthisstraight2099 - On my "bad brain days" (some days I'm more hypersensitive and easily overloaded than on other days) yes, that sounds about right. I've had migraines from overload. I've also had random orgasms, which are not nearly as much fun as they sound, given that they are no more erotic than a sneeze, and they seldom happen at convenient times. And I was social distancing before it was cool, because the vast majority of people make my skin itch if they get within a few feet of me. I tend to get real friendly with the few people who don't make me itch. Been married to one of the non-itchy people for twenty years now, and part of what made him attractive was that he didn't make me itch. I mean, there was a lot more to it than that, but if he'd been an average itchy person, he'd never have had a chance, not even if we were perfectly compatible.
@@SerafinDrake gosh... I'm so sorry that sound sounds absolutely horrible. I can't imagine have so little control over your body and nerves. I'm going to pray for you, if you don't mind.
This is one of the very few classical pieces that has spoken to me. I envision an abundance of feelings and fall in love whenever I hear this beautiful piece of work. The musicality, rhythms, and sonoraty is jaw dropping. Everything blends and fits perfectly like an intricate painting with points of tension, release, serenity. It’s just amazing and I love the cello parts!!
I can’t explain my real feelings about the piece of music, but I just say it’s amazing and splendid. I’ve listened enormous times and each time it recalled me a new memory which it amazed me, vibrated me, cried me and made to back in my heart. I’m also an architect and musician and I know what you have done ✅ great job dear and keep amazing people of entire world.❤️🌿
I just want to say this is my favorite song, no matter the genre! Every time I listen to this beautiful piece of art I hold my breath. Thank you so much for creating it. From Italy with love
Last year I visited Boston and Cambridge. As we drove throw the stone cobbled streets, a massive, sprawling structure came into view: one of the many buildings of Harvard University. I walked around the campus, gazing at the Widener Library, picturing myself studying fervently within a freshman dorm. The atmosphere seemed to hug me, and I returned its grasp. I listened to “The Secret History,” the music pulling into a crescendo as the world of Harvard unfolded around me. This song encapsulates the enchanting mystery of Harvard’s history and the conviction within my heart to be a part of it. That was 12 months ago when I was a senior in high school. Today, I will be a freshman at Harvard. I will be listening to “The Secret History” again as I enter campus and fulfill this magical wish of mine. Oh, the adventures I’ll have. Thank you for inspiring me. :)
@@KerryMuzzey I have Listened to it on spotify like.....twenty times haha....You inspire me to make music btw( although it isnt half as good as this omg)
I feel how this transports me to a different dimension.. I no longer reside in the chaos, this piece makes me connected to myself and take me to a world where its just me and my dream💜
I have been asked that before! I'm not a big reader but I've read that book 3 times: it got under my skin. I wish they had made a movie of it. This piece is one of my "Venice" pieces on this album. I've been there quite a few times & take a lot of inspiration from the place and the history of it. And I was out walking very late one night - off season in early December when it was foggy and the city was empty - and I was lost in this maze of streets and it was foggy and there were dim lamps casting shadows and it was completely silent all around me - and I just stopped in my tracks and listened. I looked around and saw all of these buildings that were 400+ years old, and it felt like I had literally traveled back in time 400 years, and I thought "imagine if places could hold memories, like all of the history that ever happened in that exact spot... " and then I imagined it being a movie where someone touches the stone facade of this building and then they can suddenly see flashes of all of the history playing out, almost like having a vision - like they could see the secret history of this place - and that became this piece. And the book did cross my mind because the words "Secret History" were stuck in my head, because that's what Venice feels like - but no, nothing to do with the book. :) Thank you for listening! And now I want to read that book again.
@@KerryMuzzey Amazing inspiration story, i will listen to it with that in mind. It is now one of my favorite classical modern pieces! however i did find it through Donna's book which i adore and have read many times too. I guess it goes very well with the ambiance of the book aswell. I imagine Henry Winter playing this song in the country house while they drink their cocktails and discuss helenic literature.

Imagine this in a movie. It’s set early 1900 and everyone’s wearing the big , fabulous dresses. The main character ( a woman ) suddenly leaves the ball and runs towards a dark forest. She’s is about to be killed. she’s running and running hoping to survive but knowing in her mind this is the end. 1:25 one of the main characters ( a man ) realises she’s gone and starts to go find her, he runs towards the forest ( it’s close by) he soon find her there being chased by a killer on his horse. Even tho he’s trying to help he also knows in the back of his mind she’s going to die. 3:33 the killer is getting closer but so is the man trying to help, what will happen ?? 4:30 the end of her life is near, the more she runs the more she gets lost in the forest and the closer the killer gets….. 4:42 she’s dead.
