    //FAQs??
    -How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
    This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
    This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
    -How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
    Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
    This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
    -How much yarn do I need?
    Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

    Any chance the pattern text could appear at the top of the screen as you talk through it? I find written patterns a bit of a mystery so seeing them develop as you crochet the row would be really helpful.

    So, just finished a Christmas stocking. I have a large WIP but needed something portable. Fortunately I just found two balls of King Cole, (sprite) and have started making a scarf in this stitch. I was going to do it all in this pretty stitch, but, now I am contemplating just having five plus rows of waves at each end as I fear the holes in the pattern might just make it useless as a scarf.
    Thank you for being so inspirational!

      The most interesting thing to me is no one seems to know exactly where or when the art crochet actually began. There are traces of it in ancient China and even from the Mayans. It was popularized in the early to mid 1800’s in England but from my research, no one really knows from where it came. I know the granny square was popularized in the late sixties and early seventies. Who sat down and said.. C4 insert in C1, 3DC. I’m learning the crochet language!

    I just made a 55" x65" blanket in this pattern and it is gorgeous! I am worried that the top and bottom edges are so delicate and open and am considering putting a border on it. Any suggestions or videos on this? Thank you for teaching me to crochet!

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад +2

      You're welcome, I'm so happy to have helped you 😊 To add a border to the top you can finish on a row 3 or 5 (depending where in the pattern you want to end up on) and then work a row of double or half treble crochets (UK terms) along, which will make it a bit more sturdy.

  • @ejsgilliland

    I'm making this blanket! It's lovely! What is your suggestion on a border for this blanket?

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  Год назад +1

      Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 I think a plain border would work well to showcase the lovely arcade stitch; a round of treble crochet stitches (UK terms) finished off with crab stitch would look lovely. I have a crab stitch tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/K7XOkueIkNM/видео.html

    • @bellacococrochet

      You can use whatever hook size is required for you yarn. If you are using a lighter weight yarn, it just means your pattern will be a little smaller x

    Any idea how you could decrease the row?

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  Год назад +1

      You can decrease at the edges by slip stitching across the arches, and then continuing in pattern for the rest of the row. Hope that makes sense! 😊

    Hi Sarah Jane is it possible to use any of your pattern to make a Poncho the starting chain will be 90. If my head is actually working do I pick a stitch that has the set amount of repeats that add up to 90 please? Xxxx

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад +1

      It's not the total amount of chains that you want to look at as such, but the multiple that the stitch uses - so for 90 chains then a stitch that is worked over a multiple of 3 would work well, for example 😊

    • @WendysCraftDen
      @WendysCraftDen Год назад

      Thank you for my last question. I hadn’t thought it went on multiples of. I have just done the second row and my row looks like a pretty flower or if I try and get it to lay flat it goes spiral. Any ideas? I am now going to sew it into a flower xxx

      Yes absolutely! Id recommend changing on the 3dc & chain rows to make the most of the pattern. You'd change colour on the last draw through of the last stitch on the previous row x

      If you pop over to my blog you'll find the written pattern: bellacococrochet.com/arcade-stitch/ The instructions detail whether the beginning chain counts as a stitch or not which should help you. Once you get the hang of the four row repeat you should be fine 😊

    So you skip three, then go into the fourth. I'm a total beginner & in the little project I'm trying to learn on I've not been doing something right. I'm now realizing I'm putting the hook into the third instead of skipping THEN going to next one. It makes sense now as I'm saying this, but I think in my noob frustration it just wasn't clicking. Whew.
