@@SCPUtilised it’s called basic training…. This is only the selection process to find people who really want to be there and put effort in. Don’t want to waste £1000s training people who will leave
The second stage of training is learning which hotels to book into and how to order room service. That fitness test is the same as the warm up the army do before a morning run
today while at my fitness test i passed everything apart from the sit ups as my instructor did not understand that she should stand on my feet while i’m doing them, i failed because of that and found it very unfair :/
As a female, I completely agree that women should be allowed to join all roles of all services IF they can meet the same fitness requirements as men. I don't understand the logic of making it easier in the name of "equality" an I'm sure plenty of women would be able to match the men in their test.
Most struggle to meet the men's pass requirement, a pass for female is 7.2 for the youngest age group and only goes down from there. A pass for the men is minimum 9.10 and that goes down over time. However there are some women who can and are fitter than some of the men just not most of them. However that is mainly down to biological reasons. Really fit women can be better than most guys in the Military however.
I've never heard anyone say that women are stronger than men. The difference in physical standards is fair considering men have way more testosterone than women.

my biggest fear / issue is the pushups. i can barely do 5 and its stressing me out, i've got my aptitude test on the 9th of this month, i know i've got plenty of time to work on pushups as the fitness test wont be for a few months yet but i'm struggling quite a bit. has anyone got any tips on how i can work on that aspect?
Just focus on doing 1 extra push-up every time. I did push ups until my arms just couldn't move anymore, then I'd move onto sit ups. Get a PT if you have the cash, to work on general fitness. Otherwise I wouldn't panic too much, you can always talk to your recruiter if you don't feel your capable of doing the fitness and need to delay it. Even if you do fail, you will likely get another chance prove yourself.
Hi Have you been using the 12 week fitness plan to help you pass the PJFT? It's on every role page on the RAF Recruitment website: www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/media/2231/20170117-pub772-fit_for_action.pdf RAF Recruitment
Yes,start by resting your knees down instead of your feet and do as many as you can then when your upper body is stronger start the full press ups and keep your lungs pumping to get the energy into your core. All the best!
Maybe do some bench press of weights at the gym to train your pecs up a bit and like the other chap said do an extra one every day, I'm near 40 and can still bang out least 40 in 60 seconds just rest for 5 seconds and do them as two sets etc
So once you hit 20, 35, 1.5 miles and stage 9.03 u just get stopped, only wondering cos I'm unsure of whether I pace myself to do that or go all out and get as good as I can
If you found it hard then you better crack away at some fitness before joining. I spent the 2.4km run chatting with the PT as I found it so easy. Even with that level of fitness training is still tough!
It means you have to run to level 7.2 on the bleep test to get a basic pass. So it starts at level 1 and goes up each minute with the beats progressively getting fast within that minute. 7.2 is about just under 8 minutes running. You'll have to also perform the push ups and sit ups. If you fail one area, you still have to do all the other areas. So if you failed the run they'd still expect you to do the push ups and sit ups regardless, pointless really if you've already failed the run as the run is the hardest but tbh
@@bionicarmman1236 Have you been using the 12 week plan to help you? www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/media/2231/20170117-pub772-fit_for_action.pdf RAF Recruitment
No and even if you fail one area in the same test they still make you do all others. For example: if you fail the run, you still need to try and pass the push ups and sit ups even though you've failed the fitness test as a whole.
In fairness, if you only just about pass the army one you’re really gonna struggle once training starts. There’s a lot more fitness involved than in RAF training. So maybe they want people already at a good level because they don’t spend as much effort building it up? This is pure conjecture.
Hi It depends on which role you apply for, it could be in a local gym with a fitness instructor, or it could be with a PTI on a station. The standards are the same though. RAF Recruitment

Thank you for this!
Oh hey cool, i passed it. I got a score of 11 on the beep test, i got 35 on the push up test and i got 49 on the sit up tests
Is the push ups and sit ups within a minute?
@@aliakbarkhuzaima8530 Yeah, plenty of time for the push ups.
49 ?! wow !! that’s very high !!! Impressive , man you must be very fit !!!
my biggest fear / issue is the pushups. i can barely do 5 and its stressing me out, i've got my aptitude test on the 9th of this month, i know i've got plenty of time to work on pushups as the fitness test wont be for a few months yet but i'm struggling quite a bit. has anyone got any tips on how i can work on that aspect?
Just focus on doing 1 extra push-up every time. I did push ups until my arms just couldn't move anymore, then I'd move onto sit ups. Get a PT if you have the cash, to work on general fitness. Otherwise I wouldn't panic too much, you can always talk to your recruiter if you don't feel your capable of doing the fitness and need to delay it. Even if you do fail, you will likely get another chance prove yourself.
Hi
Have you been using the 12 week fitness plan to help you pass the PJFT?
It's on every role page on the RAF Recruitment website:
www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/media/2231/20170117-pub772-fit_for_action.pdf
RAF Recruitment
Yes,start by resting your knees down instead of your feet and do as many as you can then when your upper body is stronger start the full press ups and keep your lungs pumping to get the energy into your core. All the best!
Maybe do some bench press of weights at the gym to train your pecs up a bit and like the other chap said do an extra one every day, I'm near 40 and can still bang out least 40 in 60 seconds just rest for 5 seconds and do them as two sets etc
What is aptitude test? Also did you pass?
Wait so you need to get level 9.10 in the bleep test but didn’t they say it was a best effort exercise ?
You need to meet at least 9.10 to pass. You're expected to give best effort.
RAF Recruitment
@@royalairforce If the instructors do not think you have given best effort will they mark you down?
@@Ehsggsh12747
Hi, you need to meet the requirements listed. You're not marked down, it's a pass/fail test.
RAF Recruitment
It's no longer a best effort test, now they stop each recruit once they reach their required standard.
So once you hit 20, 35, 1.5 miles and stage 9.03 u just get stopped, only wondering cos I'm unsure of whether I pace myself to do that or go all out and get as good as I can
I just passed my pjft test today first attempt. It’s very hard and needs a lot of practice and endurance.
If you found it hard then you better crack away at some fitness before joining. I spent the 2.4km run chatting with the PT as I found it so easy. Even with that level of fitness training is still tough!

What does the score for the Multi Stage Fitness Test Correlate to? Mine says 7.02. What does that mean?
It means you have to run to level 7.2 on the bleep test to get a basic pass. So it starts at level 1 and goes up each minute with the beats progressively getting fast within that minute. 7.2 is about just under 8 minutes running. You'll have to also perform the push ups and sit ups. If you fail one area, you still have to do all the other areas. So if you failed the run they'd still expect you to do the push ups and sit ups regardless, pointless really if you've already failed the run as the run is the hardest but tbh
If you do this you can be in the raf with the also c to a in GCSEs is there anymore type of thing you need to be able to do
Update as if August 2022.
You now only need to pass the diversity test and you're in.

www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/media/2231/20170117-pub772-fit_for_action.pdf
RAF Recruitment
No and even if you fail one area in the same test they still make you do all others.
For example: if you fail the run, you still need to try and pass the push ups and sit ups even though you've failed the fitness test as a whole.
9.10 on the bleep test Jesus that’s higher then the one for infantry in the army
In fairness, if you only just about pass the army one you’re really gonna struggle once training starts. There’s a lot more fitness involved than in RAF training. So maybe they want people already at a good level because they don’t spend as much effort building it up? This is pure conjecture.

@RAF has the 2.4km Treadmill been replaced by the Bleep test?
Hi
Fitness requirements for all roles can be found on every role page on the RAF Recruitment website.

The 2.4km run on treadmill is the "pre-joining fitness test (PJFT)" not the actual fitness test once you start training.
That's it? Or is there more?
;p time to get fit lads.
Lol This is what I have to do because I wanna join the RAF
Will the fitness test be conducted within an environment like this or within a gym with a PT
Hi
It depends on which role you apply for, it could be in a local gym with a fitness instructor, or it could be with a PTI on a station. The standards are the same though.
RAF Recruitment
When you do the actual RAF Fitness Test you shall do it in an enviroment like this.
The only time you don't is the initial test they make you do where you run 2.4km in under 10.30 minutes.

I’m just curious why is the MSFT score required for a standard role in the RAF (9.10) even higher than it is for the Infantry in the army (8.01) ? Each role on the website seems to have the same fitness score whether you’re going for HR or RAF Gunner.
Hi
Yes, they're the standards for entry for the RAF. It's not the Army, we can't comment on the Army standards. Some roles have higher requirements in the RAF too with different fitness tests.

If your only just passing lvl 8.7 at assessment for infantry you got no hope once you get to basic! But you can only focus on yourself so good luck
I passed Infantry training at Catterick after being royal signals and I can't do a bleep test for toffee thankfully I'm decent at normal running and great at tabbing and assault course even did some of that with a fractured right tibia

It will depend on your disability and whether it's something which precludes entry. As long as you meet the entry and eligibility criteria listed on the role page you're interested in then you can submit an application. The process determines entry to service.
