Late 2019 and this is still my favorite FPS I have ever played.
For all the reasons mentioned is Exactly why the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield were completely dismissed by myself during the peak of MAG popularity.

Best shooter I have ever played
The healing in the game was fun. Any class you could equip a healing gun. Not only heal yourself but heal and res teammates. I wish the servers never shut down. I remember playing this game for a month straight before servers went down. It was like a going away party. There was a server down countdown going on one of the forums, so I knew when it was gone. Perhaps my favorite FPS of all time.
if mag remastered was to come out with ps5 I would buy 2 consoles in a blink of a eye and leave my pc

MAG was ahead of its time. i remember i and a bunch of my friends bought it on launch but the game was so complicated, that many people went back to cod and bf a few days later. the game was challenging but once you got the hang of it, the game was a real masterpiece. sure it had deficiencies; like the medic was OP but the rest of the game was balanced. the reason mag was abandoned by so many players was because it was so unforgiving. players who did well, were rewarding. players who sucked were punished. not like in cod where you could immediately respawn and rack up kill streaks. i was SVER 3x, Raven 3x and Valor 2x. no doubt i loved raven the most. i wish they brought this game back for ps4 but i know this game is dead forever. RIP greatest FPS of all time.
randomguy2246 it was ahead of its time on console but PC was doing stuff like this on an MMO scale on size on PC with the first PlanetSide(shut down now too) but planetside2 is much larger, has majority of the features minus the kill streak style stuff for leaders and can have up to 2000 players in a single battle
It wasn't easy to win even if you are very good in shooting it needs squads to cooperate.

You are correct. I started with 10 people and after a month I was the only one still playing it. The others said it sucked and went back to CoD. I think if the had an MMO background like I did they would have had more appreciation of what MAG was about.
I remember seeing a video where one guy who hated the game was confused about the yellow cylinder light you saw when you were in your bunker. He had no idea what it was and couldn't figure out that this light meant the location you exit the bunker. It was so self explanatory to me that I thought everyone could figure it out
I miss this game so much. MAG 2 would be a dream come true if it ever happened.
Best shooter Ive ever played! More points for healing than getting kills. In my opinion that is what drove such good teamwork.

Damon Harper The maps were really good design wise. MAG had a way to make you cooperate with your squad. The controls were fabulous as well. In BF you often get shot out of nowhere. It was a good balance just in between COD (lots of action and combat) and BF (squads and big enough maps)

Who remembers DUCK HUNTING!!! On the SVER Sabo map when everyone would fall back to C and letting them take A and B... and everyone having an MG pointed at the paratroopers. I've seen 3 drops in a row result in either all dead or 2 or 3 survivors hitting the ground.
Yep good times they would all start spawning way far back on the ground cause they would keep getting picked off
Best fps ever, used sneek in bases c4 the anti air and call them air strikes, had such a great balance and realistic structure to it way ahead of its time

Mag was my child hood
The first fps I ever played and still the best large scale fps I've ever played. One of the best parts though is when a clan as big as the pro clan would show up in mass numbers and completely change a match. There was nothing better than realizing that somehow 2 major clans had been matchmade against each other and it felt like an impromptu clan war or seeing two clans get put together in a match and having the leaders of each clan working together. It's a real shame this game was shut down and I feel like if it was remastered or another one was made it might revolutionize the fps genre

Not everyone always followed the leader, even I didn't. But if you did, you actually got awarded for being a leader, and got rewarded for following the leader. And I don't mean, you simply get superficial gratification like in COD lol, I mean you get superficial gratification and you get tangibly rewarded with double points. In effect, you wanted to follow the waypoints set out by your squad leader. In turn, squad leaders had to do things right and know what their doing if they wanted to really. It was honestly a very effective system that, I think, simply was underutilized.
In terms of leadership communication, the communication structure in MAG is legitimately a mirror of the actual military's structure of communication. Top brass never talks directly talk to the foot soldier mid-operation. Head honcho passes his orders down the chain of command. The teamwork factor in MAG is like a real op.
Most of all for me, Domination was basically a war simulator. If your team played it right by hitting objectives to pave the way for the whole company, you'd be gold. If you took out the enemy's sensor or comm array they would actually blind on radar. And I don't just mean temporarily like a COD kill streak, I mean they would seriously be radar blind until an engineer on the opposing team took the initiative to fix it. Kind of like a real war.
You aim for the enemy's triple A (gain air superiority, as they say in-game), you gained ground like in a real war, because you could then spawn in a helicopter further a head enemy lines (sometimes even behind enemy lines) or parachute down from a cargo ship knowing you're aircraft wouldn't get shot down. Again, that is until some opposing engineer fixes up the triple A, or in the helicopter's case, until a tank/rocket shoots it down.
I remember even repairing the helicopter at times before it got wrecked to keep the spawn point for the team there as long as I could. If an enemy destroys your defense fort, you get pushed back. Back in the day, I used to go "engineer-rambo" and sneak around their back lines with a tank and repair my squad's fort, thus pushing the offensive team back as my teammate started re spawning in-fort like hatchlings in the springtime
I was one of those combat engineer players in MAG back then, it really does bring back some good memories that I won't forget
This game was one of a kind. If another even 70% like it is made, I will jump in it no questions asked

If I hadn't picked RAVEN, SVER would've been my choice. It took my almost 3 hours to choose :D

The goat of online FPS. Everyone was so good at working together. Was one of those games where you coulnd't win by your own. You needed to work with others to get the W's. Communication was a big part of it. Nobody was toxic. I don't remember a single bad experience with other player on this game
I still daydream and flashback to the fury that happened in those battles. The Communication set-up!!! I started as SVER but found my home at RAVEN with my Clan DIE. After it disbanded some of us went back to SVER and joined MIA: x-SpaceCoyote-x. M.A.G. The Greatest Game EVER!!!

I miss it every time I play a shooter
One of my greatest moments of playing this game happened during the BETA testing phase of this game:
Was playing a match as Valor and the Commander/leader of all 127 of us hopped on the mic and with the chillest voice was making call outs (to the best of his knowledge that is. It was brand new to everyone so he was just pointing things out on the map). He'd chime in every now and then between the voices of the squad and platoon leaders and he pumped us up!
We won that match and as soon as we did he came on for the last time and said "Alright... I want all you fuckers to shoot up in the sky!" and I look across the map and see everyone spinning around emptying clips, letting off rocket launchers, everything. Still one of my best gaming memories for sure!
Got the game Day 1 and even though it was just as enjoyable as that moment, that moment was unmatched. This game deserves a predecessor!
Muzzle discipline was absolutely a must when advancing.
I remember this shit. Definitely the most fun I had on a first person shooter.

We need a modern remake of this. PC, PS4 and Xbox One. I really wanted to play this on the PS3 back in the day, but never got a chance.

I miss this game. It was my 1st game ever bought on the ps3. I really loved this game spend a lot of nights playing MAG and healing my squad and RPGed a lot of tanks lol
My favorite part was the Med-Kit. 1 teammate could go in, clear out a room of enemies, and rez all their teammates while hearing the enemy trash talk and rage at you the whole time. Anyone caught dead with a First-Aid Kit was immediately disliked.

Why this setup hasn’t been used since is a mystery to me. A modern remake of this would be a killer.
I only wish I had played it more, still I see so many familiar names in the squads and kill feed hehe. In the last year of MAG I remember you could only play domination on saturday mornings so I'd wake up early to play with all the japanese that played at that time frame. And the last week every day was Dom, that was so great. I really miss this game, the best I ever played!
If this game was released now as opposed to 2010 it would be alive and well for years longer than what it was.

I miss this so much. I started in Raven and ended the game in Raven. But my time in Valor was my favorite. I was a sniper in a great clan that worked well together.

SVER 4 EVER CLAN MEMBER OF WAR$ AKA (WARRIOR$) Our Clan Leader was Bond49 and i tell you what still to this day the memories i have from MAG is some of my best from any videogame. Especially Multiplayer only games.

Loved MAG, remember I was first in my clan to get 100 kill game as a squad leader. Also loved the voice comms and working structure, I remember greatest domination was OIC calling my squad to rotate to another side of the map to reinforce them
I miss this game so much, I sincerely hope sony does a remaster or remake for the ps5. The next gen console could really push the envelope and break boundaries. Think how cool mag would be with next gen graphics, physics and destruction. Hell, you could have more than 256 players in a new mag game.

Our clan would do suppression with only using blue goo guns, friendlies were running out of ammo because we would keep reviving them. I had to chuckle when I saw the Kill em quick tag. I remember getting hate mail from one of those guys. Good times, KYJ for life😂

This Game was and is still the Best first person shooter game EVER!!!...people talk about "Call Of Duty & Battlefield and the new BF 2024"... these game aren't no where near what MAG Offered...It was non stop Action!!!....and the best part was that you played as a Team and it was great that you could talk to one another...games these day yeah you can talk but nobody ever does cause they want to go SOLO.... it's all about special effects/Graphics now.. it's like they don't worry or want to really know what peeps want these days... Man i miss MAG!!!!

I was always a solo player but I loved being able to lone wolf and act as a one man army by focusing my character on mobility, tech, and melee combat. I was able to Sprint through enemy lines and plant charges EVERYWHERE finishing top 3 every game. The tech let me stay invisible while any enemies unlucky enough to wander into my vicinity were picked up by my motion sensor and immediately taken out by my maxed out knife strikes. If it got too hot I could easily run and hide since my mobility was maxed out. I also picked Valor and never touched the anti air batteries so my team would never break through enemy lines (valor was so bad lol) and I could keep the party going.
I fucking loved that game.
I remember playing against PRO and in clan wars towards the later years where you guys would walk shoulder to shoulder through the jungle map with the pyramid style C objective. I still say this is one of the best games ever.
Def a great game, easy one of the best on ps3, but they did also screw up some things, that unfortunately ended up killing the game, and the dev team as well. But still I would love to see some other company pick up this game to give it it yet a nother go. A MAG 2 or MAG reboot!

I got lvl 60 on all 3 this is just a great memory I used to get so mad when I was doing bad when I was like 9 years old playing with my brother and dad.

Remaster it on P/S 5 or better yet make a new Mag!! the best game still to this day period (COD) doesn’t have any feel to it like MAG did just being able to talk to your enemies for the whole game was priceless

We all need to get together and start pressuring PlayStation to bring back mag if enough people request this game and pressure PlayStation on a on a daily basis I'm sure we can get mag brought back into circulation just talking about it on RUclips is not enough we must start bringing this up on PlayStations website this is the only way we will be able to bring mag back but it's going to take everyone to request for mag to return to PlayStation. Regarding friendly fire.. I used to sensor shell my own team in the game mode with the 9 vehicles. I forget the name of the mode but I remember getting 5 or 6 vehicles and around 40 team kills LOL

Still to this day is my favorite FPS. This game has made it impossible for me to enjoy playing COD or Battlefield. I just want the original to be made free-to-play
