Wayde's 400 wr is obviously impressive but I can't wrap my head around the 30.81 in the 300...seems that wr might stand longer.
Well the 300 isn’t really focused on and is run far less frequently so probably.
@@gummy5862 Plus that’s just a super crazy time
@@gummy5862 yeah
@@gummy5862 good point... all wr's are amazing but that one just seems superhuman
Bolt ran 200 in 19.19. He might've been able to go sub-30 for 300. That is just insane.
Steven Gardiner definitely stands the best chance at this record. He is the world and Olympic champion in the 400 and the wr holder in the indoor 300m! I'm also excited to see what Rai can do in the 400m .
Please don’t ever spell Olympic like that ever again
@@forrester6260 how did he spell it?
@@forrester6260 what happened?
@@pigu8734 olimpik
@@hooleyy he spelled it olimpik
The fact wayde ran lane 8 probably helped him achieve that record since it forced him to go out fast from the start. He also had two Olympic gold medalist in the 400 pushing him . I really can’t see anyone beating his record unless all the conditions are absolutely perfect
someone could do it downhill
Lane 8 is the fastest because it is the furthest from the center so the force of gravity is deminished.
@@garrysekelli6776 um
@@Runner-Boy While he's not technically wrong, he's also not very correct
@@garrysekelli6776 the force of gravity is the same regardless of what lane he runs unless he was running it in another planet. Lane 8 however has less of a curve which allows him to run it without having to deal with turn like a runner in lane 2 which has a tighter curve. He has to deal with less centrifugal force making the turn in lane 8 as opposed to lane 2.
If you aren't a huge track fan you'll not even understand how special Gardiner can go. He has mastered the art of relax running. He has the most relaxed running style and by maintaining his speed. He does not tense up and has a beautiful stride. I'm from south africa but Gardiner could really challenge this sepcial world record
Steven Gardiner seems to be even better shape than previous years and he has won everything now it time break records and barriers.
I’m a huge track fan and know the sport well. Gardiner has zero shot at breaking 43, let alone WVN 43.03 record. Not happening.
Suprises me how far back he sits in his stride though.
Too bad he got arrested for domestic violence towards his trans ex.
His height and long strides allow that style. He takes 9 steps to the other runners 4 steps. Same with Bolt. If neither didn't have this advantage, they'd both be mediocre runners. Height and stride helps.
This channel is legit. You are a GOAT🏆
yet another great video from TRP, no flashy gimmicks just good solid production and execution with a soothing commentary overlayed :) keep up the great work its much appreciated
Sub 43 is in his biology. He's got a swimmer's chest which suggests freakish lung capacity and his stride pattern has to be the longest and smoothest in the world. Can't wait for Diamond league to start.
Unfortunately, if you want to be an Olympic athlete, especially In a cardio-based sport, genetics is the name of the game
I am guessing the stride pattern of David Rudisha is longer that Gardiners. He is equally tall and has by far the smoothest running technique I have ever seen.
I don't think lung capacity is a critical factor in the 400 m, but yes in longer races.
@@arnavshah8131 That’s sort of how it is for almost all sports lol. You’re not getting to the very top without amazing genetics.
@@robertspies4695 Better breathing equals more oxygen for your muscles, and that equals more endurance.
I do believe Gardiner can manage to eventually break the 43 second barrier in the 400 m if he stays healthy and continues to improve.. He is currently 26 years old so he is almost reaching his peak as an athlete
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but does he have the 100m speed to accomplish such a feat. Wade clocks 9.84 or so in the 100m and Gardiner has a chance to break his record?
SG fastest time is from 2019. He’s not beaten it since. He’s not getting any faster and has zero chance of breaking WVN record. SG has never even gotten close to MJ old record of 43.18. Not happening.
I should be glued to the Winter Olympics and what am I drawn to? Your channel! Keep them coming!
Watching this man run the 400m compared to other ELITE athletes is like watching Usain Bolt run the 100m. He just stands out among the stand outs, his form looks like it's from another planet. I have never seen a more relaxed runner on the 400m, he looks like he's not aware of the competition. He can go sub 43. I think 42.78 is a bold damn statement, but a 42.89-.91 certainly seems like a possibility.
Absolutely !! He actually gives me the Jonhson vibes. by that I mean that he looks like he is running a different race than his competitors. Different posture different leg movements and strides. And the part that shocks me the most is how relaxed he looks, it's like he's running on a treadmill and not in a competition. That's true mental strengh.
If they going 45 in the 400 hurdles yes someone can go 42
I wholeheartedly agree! Men among boys!
42’s…😂😂 not happening people. Not sure what you’re all smoking, but it must be some good shit.
You guys are all crazy if you think SG has a chance to break WVN record. His PB is 43.48, yes very fast, but that was in 2019. He’s not getting any faster people. Not even in the same universe as WVN record. .45 seconds is forever in this race. Please stop being stupid.
You guys always do some great breakdowns and analysis. Keep it up and go for broke Gardiner
I don’t know what they’re doing in the Bahamas but they know how to make a tall, smooth, powerful, and insanely fast 200-400m runner
Im from the bahamas its called Bahamian pride all of us that way no matter what we doin
Take note Ben. Sugar apple ,guineps, juju, plums, mango, tamarind and wild dilly. And.don't forget conch fritters , conch salad and smothered grouper. Get it? Got it ? ........good. Island Stylin 🇧🇸🌎🇧🇸
To address Dereck Dean comment I'm willing to bet that they got more people that's 6ft 3in and taller that's willing not to run at all than they do the Miller-Uibos and this guy in the video. It's more to it than just fruit, conch and island food. They have the people that are willing to go out and dam near kill themselves running 400m like they do in Jamaica and the USA who has more.
@@edwardjones717 Sorry, Eddie, my comment was meant to be a joke .... It's pure Genetics .Watch the 2012 London Olympics 4x4 men's final . On that last leg you will see another joke .
We played lots of porking during break and lunch and if u from freeport sadly they say porky but that's a different issue(country joke lol) but yea we are naturally conditioned at least lots of us were when they were allowed to play in school. Game consisted of running the dam entire lunch break 😆
On this channel, everything is one of the best something in history.
Best comment of History !!
TRP is like a tabloid writer. Attention grabbing headlines always 😅
Great vid, love Gardener such a stylish unhurried runner but can't see the 400m world record being broken for a few years
Gardiner had the endurance and now he's got the speed... Mama !
This brother is coming! I mean he has already arrived but he is coming for immortality in the track and field game. At 6'4" with those narrow shoulders and long strides, he was built to sprint. Incredible athlete.
43.03 record is tougher to break than 9.58 record ...............I always used to think that Michael Johnson's record wouldn't ever be broken but niekerk broke it by .15 seconds 🙏🙏 salute 👍👍
9.58 is not going to be broken anytime soon. 43.03, however, will be broken in the near future. 9.58 is a test of speed, but 43.03 is a test of endurance. Endurance is easier than speed to improve.
You report the greatness of athletics better than anyone. Thank you
Watchout for Wendell Miller (also Bahamian)... the dude is literally like a clone of Gardiner
And this is why you don’t play soccer in your off hours!
I messed mine with basketball.
@@kevionrogers2605 off topic but not really. Sports like that that encourage lateral movements are way worst on the ACL than a heel heel which is a submission to tear the knee apart. So playing soccer is more likely to tear your ACL than an actual submission attempting to tear it lol

Yes I believe that he can do may God keep him healthy throughout the entire season in Jesus mighty name amen 🙏🏽. 242 🇧🇸 to the world 🌎. We coming #stevengardinerthegoat
I think a healthy Norman back in competition mode helps Gardiner. I am still on the side of Norman being the better runner. I believe this competition between them will push the 400 record. Similar to Mclaughlin vs Muhammad, Warholm vs Benjamin, Bromell vs Coleman, ect. Rivalry brings out the best!
I ran my fastest 400 ever My third meet my senior year and couldn't manage to get back to that time again even at state against the best the state has to offer
Stephen Gardiner has a perfect relaxed form, my fellow Bahamian you gat dis!!
ayeee trp upload this finna be lit
TRP you're DOPE, best running/T&F channel of all times!!!!
So the 242 dominating the 400m eh? Shaunae and Steven. It’s a good look.
I sure hope he stays healthy and yes I believe he can do it. Way to go S.G.!!! 242 to the world!!!!
The 400m is a beautifully tough race. Pure guts.
Basically running a 10.75 100 meter 4 times in a row without stopping. My best was 10.65. No way I could do that 4 times in a row..
10.65 is still amazing
youre already insane for running 10.65, only 1% of the human population can do that. Id probably run a 14 or 15 man
@@nitishgupta5959 I used to get 1st or 2nd in HS. But it would not have even placed in college. Fast is relative. It was a tie for a school record back then. Now it is 10.47. (21.7 - 200m), (49.6 - 400m), (1:58.3 - 800m) but those might get me 3rd or 4th place now. The women at the Olympics are just starting to break my high school times and that is amazing. It’s been 44 years of waiting. I wasn’t even the fastest guy in the state. But usually the conference. I ran at state but qualified 7th, so 10.65 wasn’t fast enough even at the state meet back then.
You and Jimmy Highroller are the goats of sports videos! Keep up the work
I've got to say that Steven Gardiner's chances of going sub 43 secs are good. But there is one thing that has to be certain; that he remains healthy!!
This is insane! In high school I could run in the sub 50s (best pace 48's) so 43 is like 40-50 meters in difference. Incredible speed, endurance, power and technique! I saw Michael Johnson run as well and my mind was blown and these guys are all running in that league. Insane
Gardiner has the best anatomy of all 200/400 sprinters. Narrow waist, broad shoulders, long thin legs and arms. Mass only where it matters (around the hips, core and shoulders)
Additionall benefit is his running style. Super efficient similar to Michael Johnson. Very little vertical oscillation (no bounce).
I believe Gardiner can go sub 43, because every time he goes to run, he tell his boys that he is going to break his PB. i believe he can... 242 to the World.
Great video as always, I don't think he's gonna get it this year, but if someone does, it will be him
With the way Kerley been looking lately, I wouldn’t hold it past him either
world records are difficult because they take more than just a person that can break them. it takes the right conditions and the right fitness as well. He has been a force the last few years.
Better track and shoe technology are physical performance enhancers. Johnson's time is still far more impressive.
Between Japan and Rio the track got 1% to 2% faster in an interval period of just 4 (5) years.
Johnson's record was achieved on track that used outdated technology.
On the one hand, I would like a quick buegu
And on the cheaper side, my idol is Van Nieker.
But I believe that he will beat Van Nieker but at 300m in Ostrava, he will win the World Championships with a time of 43.10 MAXIMUM
GREETINGS
Great video! I did spot one mistake though - you said thousandths instead of hundredths when mentioning how close were were to a 43.00.
3:38 or so
It's funny how quickly we writing off Wayde himself, for potentially breaking the 43sec barrier. He had a career altering injury yes, but he seems prim to return to his best this or next season. Much like Trayvon Bromell did after his. He was injured and took him about 4 seasons to get back to his best. I see Wayde bouncing back to elite sprinting this season and WR contention next season.
Plus the pandemic threw him off, he looked really good in early 2020 before the lockdowns
@@ianm8218 he also looked good starting of last season till he got injured in that 200m straight race, i hope he can stay fit this year
Nahh, that fucker done. He'll never run 43 or anything close again. Maybe he should have thought about that before play fucking rubgy.
Hey I was there. That was absolutely insane to watch in person
Get it Stevie! 👏🏽👊🏽🇧🇸🏅
Dude! Cool channel!
Wayde van Niekerk has the most beautiful and graceful running style. Also take note, his coach at the time of his record was a 70 something year old lady.
I was participating in the SC invitational this year. It was insane to watch this live
You from South Carolina?
Side note the Bahamas could dominate the 4x4 mixed relays between gardiner and Miller ouibo
I need to see a mixed 4x4 with both of them.
@@pugita1232 bra they couldn’t be beat. Have miller ouibo on third leg and gardiner on anchor the first an second leg job is to just stay with the pack
I am not a big fan of track and field. But coming from swimming at a high level I can feel the weight of these records. I wouldnt doubt the sub 43 coming. He definitely has it in him.
Can't watch a 400m race without noticing Zambrano's monster finishing kick
Gardiner is the truth! Bahamas all the way!
Wayde 400m smashing WR is epic!
Steven Gardiner has the capability but I think he’ll need a great field to do it, Michael Norman and Fred Kerley both could also do it. With the field of the 400 becoming more and more stacked, it’s only a matter of time before the 43 second barrier is finally broken
I'm a huge Wayde fan boy, so anyone even suggesting someone else breaking that record makes me salty
South African right

What's the news about Wayde ? When will he run again ?

I'm excited to see what Steven Gardiner can do. He better hope Fred Kerley doesn't decide to come back in the 400m too! Van Niekirk should consider giving the 800m a go. He may have lost speed because of his knee injury, but he may be able to gain enough endurance.
When you were showing the top 50 rankings in the 400m, I can't help but notice my Central high school team mate, Lee Evans who is still in #14 ranking after nearly 54 years later. He broke the world record in the 1968 Olympics, which lasted nearly 20 years, a feat well ahead of its time.
Please explain the details of this knee injury. I’ve never heard of it

@@dennisrobinson8008 It was said that he was able to do that because of the low altitude in Mexico City and a lot of records was set that Olympic year.
These times sounds close to Van Niekerk’s times but the effort required is immense and not a given.

Supercool i really hope that Steven Gardner will break 43. Hopefully with some margin.
If he took down his 300m PB with 0.7s he could most probably do the same or more on the 400m. Fingers crossed and he will run 42.6.
Thats not how this works. He will not run a 42.6, ever

Maybe sub 43.3 but 43 on the dot alone is mission impossible. So yall believe he can lower the time buy 0.3 seconds😂😂
stefanmaste why am i laughing so hard
It’s a great time to be a track & field fan 😀👍🏻
I've always believe that running your own race is key to achieving your personal best time. Especially in the 400m. I think being in the outer lane allowed Wade Van Niekerk to achieve that.
Wayde von Niekirk's record should be safe for a long time to come. Running well for 300m is impressive but the additional distance will be daunting. Wayde's mixed ancestry gives him what is called hybrid vigor. This is something that should never be underestimated when combined with excellent training techniques.
For johnson to set all those records back in the 90s is truly amazing imagine him in his prime today with all the upgrades in nutrition and equipment ECT ECT he'd have probably broken 19 seconds and I certainly think he'd have broken 43 seconds in the 400m.As an Irishman that loves Athletics Johnson will be a legendary sprinter forever.
well, he can learn from marathon sub-2hrs legend E.Kipchoge system: addressing every possible angle for miniscule improvement; mental, technical, combination of speed and endurance (400m)- yes, S.Gardiner can break 43s barrier.
My goal in life is to be the first human to run sub 43, and I believe deeply I will by 2025. This video almost brought me to tears. Nobody knows me but i'm sure as hell devoting my entire life to it. Its world record or die trying in my mindset. These videos inspire me a ton, thank you!
And what’s your pr now?
Speedy, is this joke ! or are you serious ? If you serious give us some updates , whats your PB over 400m now , how long you've been running , your age etc etc etc.
I was 9 years old when I watched Michael Johnson set those records and earn his golden shoes. It was unbelievable.
He will broke the record if he have the competition to do it . Hes on form this year .
I don’t think competition is the factor. Wayde ran in Lane 8, so he wasn’t even looking at his competition.
@@ianbusche1471 exactly, and he was 0.73 ahead of Kirani James.
Gardiner has a smooth technique. Looks efficient. Would have to keep working hard to break that record. Diet, training, focus.
Bolt the speed man in the history of the world was designed for 30 sec or less.the 400 m was a little bit out of hes range.god bless the king of speed.
If he was an American he would have the world record in the 400m too.
He wins gold in 2022, runs 43.50 because Eugene is not.a fast track like Tokyo, and Wade's time will never be broken.
Oregon is a "fast track". That's why most U.S athletes ran incredible times at trials there but they failed to replicate their performances at the big stage.
Look at the Women's 100m at the 2016 olympic trials. Gardner, Bowie and Bartoletta all run under 10.8 in the finals.
Then in Tokyo Bartoletta didn't qualify for the finals, and both Bowie and Gardner ran 10.83 and 10.94 respectely in the olympic final. Way far from their trials times.
I live in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 Gardiner is a beast
Erriyon Knighton seems to have a lot of potential over the 400 metres and could possibly be the first to break the 43 seconds barrier if Steven Gardiner does not get there first.
Not if Gardner gets there first
Gardiner will get there first. That 300m WB is a warning!
No way
Actually never seen Erriyon doing anything longer than 200m
while Erriyon possibly will move up to 400m sometime in the future, just at the moment he seems to be exploiting his talent's over the 100m/200m with an age group WR performance in the 200m last outdoor season.
Great chance too! If not 43 flat for sure!🔥🔥🔥
I do think Steven Gardiner will in fact go sub 43
Hmm I don't know. But I hope he will
Steven Gardnier Would the the 2nd Bahamian to hold a World Record 🇧🇸🇧🇸🇧🇸
Interesting.
I love this channel! I am a also a track junkie and historian of the sport. I’ll say this, no one and I mean no one is breaking WVN 400 record or Warholms 400 hurdle record. Not in this lifetime people.
Lol, the fuck do you know
@MrLoveOneAnother
Thanks! I’m pretty sure the average fan has no idea how freaking incredible WVN record really is. MJ 43.18 stood for nearly 20 years and that record was phenomenal. Wade crushed it, perfect setting like you said and he took advantage of that. Hell, no one has even come close to MJs old record, why do peeps all the sudden think 43.02 or sub 43 is possible…it’s not. I’m 50 and I’ll be shocked if it’s broken in my lifetime. Same with KW hurdle record, which personally I think is an even tougher record to beat.
@MrLoveOneAnother in the next 6 years the record will be broken, trust me.
And I do have an idea of how fast that is, only because it's the fastest time, doesn't mean it can't be beaten
Is your whole life purpose to comment this everywhere? Seriously shut up.
@MrLoveOneAnother oh an I suppose you do?
Michael Johnson's 400 meter run was probably one of the greatest in history because of how long it lasted. I'm talking about the record of course, not the actual race. His record was not beaten for 20 years. We're getting very close to the limit of human speed for that distance, but I think we could keep chipping away bit by bit every decade or so.
Gardner looks like he just left the stove on and gotta get home quick
Great athlete, such a long relaxed stride, he looks like he could do the 800 very quickly aswell
I would like to see what he would do at 500 meters. That gives a good assessment of how strong he is in the last 100 meters.
I'm not an expert and I'm speaking purely out of my personal experience and some physics. If bb only he could position his spine to be as much neutral as possible. Watch his back while sprinting. He is flying, effortlessly, but if he leaned his chest just a little bit forward, i believe he could gain a couple of hundredths of a second. Believe me, there's a lot of stress on the spine when running like this, especially running that fast. Anyway, I'd love him to improve that segment and witness, let's be optimistic, 42:95 or a few hundredths more.
I want to see Wade and Karsten in a 400 flat showdown :)
The USA is busted with sprinters in the 100m and specially 200m.
Though I don't really see them (Mike Norman) do anything in the one lap race.
Thank you for uploading did not know that Gardner just broke that WR, I have never seen him as a WR contender but he is right now by far the favourite 400m athlete stepping into the World Champs.
And wow Fred Kerley and Emmanuel Korrir are some great sprinters did not know Kerley runs up to the 400m and Korrir beeing so competetive over half the length of his usual 800m primary distance.
Could you make a video about 17.02.2022 due to Selemon Barega attacking the 3.000m indoor WR again in Liéven with Lamecha Girma and Getmet Wale some 3.000m SC beasts to support him+JakobIng will maybe join that race if it get's slower like 7:30 Jakob is one of the fav's imo but I don't see him taking that WR against these three guty guys from 🇪🇹
Anyways stay save guys
Wade on his way back will love to see these two go at it
The most impressive thing about Van Niekerk Olympic performance was him doing it while wearing a $1million dollar watch.
If van neikirk has a better lane he would definitely break 43 seconds
Wow quality product
Nah that 400m record will stand for a long time...
Absolute beast.
Gardener’s form is similar to Micheal Johnson’s.
If Rai Benjamin can peak at the right time like he did in Tokyo, I think he will be able to shock the world over the 400m flat.
Anyone didn't mention that Wayde van Niekerk was a 200m silver medalist in 2017 world championship.
Gardiner reminds me of Reynolds, by tall and slender physique, long limbs and running form
Island Bwoy Steven!🇧🇸 #242
As a former 400m specialist in high school, it's the hardest run to run in track since you need speed, endurance, and stamina for one lap.
I'd disagree. That 800 is real. So is the 400 Hurdle.
Effort in any of them really becomes the question, I'd contend at best they're all interchangeable.
Endurance and stamina are sysnomons for the same topic...
@@muchomango2703 most high schoolers don't run the 400m hurdles, but I get what you're saying.
Wow, it would be amazing, the islands would not be the same.
To run a 43.03 400 meters is to run a 10.75 100 meters back to back 4 times consecutively with zero rest. It's next to impossible to run 10.75 100 meters 4 times in a row with 60 seconds rest in between.
So in order to break that record or run a 43.00 flat takes a V02 max that's off the charts, a rare mutation of fast twitch fibers, perfect peak in training cycle and total brain 🧠 cooperation/determination/belief to pull that off. At around the 300 meters mark ur brain is sending natural signals for u to stop bcuz the muscles R so full of lactic acid. So ur brain has to be great at blocking those signals.
Records R broken all the time but the 400 meters record tends to stand for a while.
Certainly has potential 👍
I truly believe Fred Kerley is gonna touch 42. He did the 100M to debunk the doubts and now he has his sights on the 400M don’t count him out! #Phase42 #SayNoMore
All Gardner needs is to better his form by leaning forward a bit more ; relaxing his upper body by not clinching his fingers into a fist and swinging his arms a bit more to letting his long stride work at it's peak. Many coaches and 400 runners can see that he will break the 43 If he keeps improving his running technique.
