I like this song. It is amazing. Play it all the time. The dirty projectors are just so unique. Reminds me of The Beatles in a way. Not in music style but in feeling. Like the music is so unique and hitting new things I’m not hearing elsewhere mainstream. But it’s refreshing and almost feels free and raw. It’s beautiful. It’s something I need in 2021 honestly. While music feels fake and more mass produced than ever before with even country trying to be pop. It’s just so refreshing to have something that you can’t place into one box. They do acoustic, EDM, rock, pop and yeah…. It’s not easy to label them as something. So I just say “they make music that they like and people’s likes are ever changing”. They worked with Björk and that there is enough. Björk is Queen to me. She is also one of those you can’t put into a box. It’s refreshing.
I love that the natural progression of Dave's music videos has gone from animated ninja herons taking down airplanes to him interpretive dancing as a Whoville traffic guard, totally okay with it
The fiery, autopilot, romantic kind of love typically fades after 1-3 years on average. This is usually misinterpreted as the only type of love. Truth is, a second type of love exists: conscious, willed and much more powerful. This love can rise, expand and sustain a relationship in perpetuity, but it takes dedication, sacrifice, compromise, kindness and compassion. No wonder it's completely off the radar for so many humans, and increasingly so. Seek the latter, brother/sister, and you might avoid a lifetime of cyclical relationships like the one depicted in this song.
From the wiki: "Research by the University of Pavia suggests that romantic love lasts for about a year...However, research from Stony Brook University in New York suggests that some couples keep romantic feelings alive for much longer." The research I've seen typically identifies somewhere between 1 and 3 years. Just finished Chapman's bestseller, and he suggests 1-3. Point is, it lasts about as long as most relationships.
this is actually pretty sad, it talks about how he falls in love, destroys the relationship, she leaves him, he becomes destructive to his life still obsessed with his lover, but finally after time he realises this love fades away and so he finally fixes his life.
Stumbled across this while trying to find live footage from the new record- I'm glad I could catch this before it blows up! An awesome video for a PERFECT song.
"Simple Request". It's one of my favorites and on a random EP so it's hard to find. That and literally every song from Swing Lo Magellan or Bitte Orca.
The different stages in a relationship: beginning, romantic/shining phase, crumbling, ending and possibly a chance at a new one. It reflects the singer's thoughts on his breakup with his girlfriend and also musician partner (hence the second sequence with the ice skating couple).

strong candidate for the greatest breakup song of all time.
That'd be "One More Hour" by Slater-Kinney, but yes this is definitely up there!
Album***
Absolutely adore this song - recommended to me by my wonderful son - and I am 60.
In the running for the best song of 2017. Sonically unique, lyrically heartfelt, and emotionally raw as all hell.
completely agree.
Between this and Redbone for song of the year imo. Nothing else is close
I felt this album deserved so much more attention that it got
Even worse, it's often bashed: so many people are so used to hearing untrue and fluffy filler that Truth hits them like an act of aggression.
agreed :/
Dirty Projectors is easily one of the best bands of the last two decades. They deserve way more credit than they're given.
The ending of this song is possibly the most hype thing ever created
This song is so beautiful. Listened on repeat for days when the album dropped. TAKE A BOW!
Bravest break up song I've ever heard (and seen)! Thumbs UP!

Listening with headphones is an experience! At 1:41 the harmonies warmly grace the right side!
Pregnant and baby instantly started kicking when the song started, he knows it’s a bop
Does the little one still like this song??
this should have more views
Very unexpected music video for one of my favourite songs on the album, but the choreography was amazing throughout!
I doubt it
@@PoeticBabble

Man I can't be crying like this it's a goddamn school day
This is the best music video of the year.

Good song, good video, good choreography, good photography. Just wonderful.
There's so much to appreciate here, but those finger snaps tie it all together. Brilliant.
Ah, the ol' Tame Impala Currents method
I can only imagine how many people in NYC were either confused or pissed off during the shoot for the final scene of the video
LA brother, downtown outside the Bradbury Bldg.
Sooo is that Longstreth playing the traffic guy?
Top Shelf!!! Glad to see Dirty Projectors deliver- when that happens it's always a show stopper
So in love with this album...so inspiring to see the art created from heartbreak. Amazing!!

exactly
It's 7 months to 1 year actually.

No fucking way this group is way ahead of its time for real

Not too sad, since he fixes his life
WEEEEEIRRRRRRRD. damn. Dave directing traffic during the Bowie dedicated solo saves it though.
PURE ART
Unusual and unexpected sounds sum up the style of Dirty Projectors
Me enamoré de ésta música. Gracias!
"heartache is experienced individually but defined universally"

This is an amazing composition. Brilliant and outstanding. Some of the brass sections remind me a little bit of Frank Zappa.

DRIVING UP THE TAGHKANIC PARKWAY!!!
Stumbled across this while trying to find live footage from the new record- I'm glad I could catch this before it blows up! An awesome video for a PERFECT song.
Trovo fantastica la clip dei due pattinatori su ghiaccio sono affascinanti, lei è bellissima e fa delle trottole eleganti. Molto ben strutturato.
I love this video and it grosses me out at the same time.
Sounds like tUnEyArDs! Awesome
Correction: Tune-Yards sounds like this. (Both great bands, though).

_Interesting, very Interesting indeed_
I thought i was taking drugs but the drugs took me.

First song I listen from these guys and I'm in love already, does anyone recommend some songs from them I must listen to?
"Simple Request". It's one of my favorites and on a random EP so it's hard to find. That and literally every song from Swing Lo Magellan or Bitte Orca.

Took you long enough. It was fantastic though, so I can't really complain.
Is it obvious that the couples shown are various stages of a relationship that ends? :|

Avant Traffic dude in LA... HaHaHa...
The video is mirrored at 5:55

Jake didn't get a thanks???
Reminds me of one-eyed girl by lemon demon
What is the meaning behind this video?
The different stages in a relationship: beginning, romantic/shining phase, crumbling, ending and possibly a chance at a new one. It reflects the singer's thoughts on his breakup with his girlfriend and also musician partner (hence the second sequence with the ice skating couple).
Average Argentines ha ha Kool 😁😁
0:58 is that supposed to be the dude's right hand or the girl's second hand? ...Cause it doesn't work the first way.
I hate that well mixed and arranged music like this is being wasted on ear buds and laptop speakers.
#RhymingOverBeats what’s wrong with ear buds? Sometimes they’re even better than headphones
Thomas Corley shit ur right, sorry. Thought they were the same thing, they look the same!!
Amen.
Right eyeball?
pepper from ahs
please tour to japan
This is the definition of weird
I think the songs broken, it keeps making funny noises
impossible tune
get out of me
What's up with the cartoonishly big noses?
Wtf? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Album oty
This video definitely perpetuates stereotypes (e.g. "ugly people have big noses"). I find that unhelpful. I do find the song lovely though.
and big ears brody! I have both haha.
😂😂😂
WTF?? an unfortunate click of the mouse today!!
Jews
The noses and ears kinda freak me out
musica chataaaaaaaaaaaaaa podre de besta o clipe é magnifico mas a musica é irritante credo
