Seven years later and you just helped me! Trying to remove an "old" faucet and looking under the sink I can barely move and well my light is casting shadows all over. I'm so confused because of some gold cover, the collar! I'm thinking do I tug it, twist it? Finally looking and looking I notice the faint words MOEN on the faucet up at the sink but it was really faded. Go searching for models used in 2015 online... Lol. Somehow come upon your video and in your explanation and video here, I "get it." Go back, then I see a bolt on my model that presses against the collar to tighten the assembly to the unit above! THAT'S IT!!! Sounds silly but I was stumped. But you gave me the clue. I loosened it enough to see that yes this will let me pull the assembly out and I'll do that tomorrow. (Dinner time where I am now.) But thanks again for posting this. You saved me from having to call a plumber.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Tried to remove old Moen faucet from 2002 RV without instructions or tool. Your video told me everything I needed to know. Everything was well rusted, but 3-in-1 oil, and 30 minutes soak time made all the difference. New faucet (not Moen) is in.
Your video still is highly useful. After 5 yrs of use, I ran into the same problem as you with this Moen faucet. Your removal solution saved me hours of frustration figuring how to remove it without that Moen tool. Tnx
Thank you so much for this explanation. I’m in the process of replacing this exact same faucet and your explanation really helped me out with getting it loose.
Thanks Craig! This is very helpful, as I'm removing a faucet like your old Moen & there's zero room under the sink to do much. But despite the tight quarters (I have to lie half way on my side through a narrow cabinet opening - it's in our trailer) I must get the faucet out. Your video has already helped me.
I can’t tell you how much you saved my life. That damn faucet has had me by the short and curlies for too many hours. Thank you so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I installed one of these Moen pull-out faucets a few years ago, it has been nonstop trouble, failing at multiple points. I strongly recommend avoiding Moen faucets, I will absolutely be avoiding anything made by them when we get our kitchen remodeled.
Thank you very much Craig. That was one tough son of a b!tch to get out. Your video helped immensely. I'm so glad I didn't choose Moen for the replacement. 😅
YOU WONDERFUL GUY!!! I have the same faucet and didn't know how to get it off because my old plumber didn't leave the old tool. Thank you a million for this video!
I had the exact same model and problem. This was so very helpful, as I was stuck behind a double sink and limited space. Thanks to your video explanation, I took a pair of vise grips and did it exactly the way you said. Thank you very much for very helpful post!
Craig, Thanks for your time to do this video, much appreciated. I was having a hard time disconnecting the Tap/Faucet hose line when I found your video. Once I found the correct box wrench, it came off and using an old spark plug socket wrench, the entire faucet came out without me getting up once. Now you know how old I am, having a spark plug socket! Sure wish I could tune up my truck, like the old days. Thanks again for your helpful video.
Thanks man I really appreciate you taking the time to describe how to un-install this faucet. I am never going to buy another Moen product in the future.
Deadly buddy! Thank you for the tip! Haha, you had me chuckling there. I to, felt your frustration which led me here. Poorly designed and produced product from a manufacturer I will not buy from again.
I had the tool, but underneath/behind the sink is so tight at that point, there was no way to get a good grip and loosen. My back and knuckles thank you for showing the other method - which worked flawlessly - even in the tight spaces !!
Thank you bro!!!! Spent a hour and a half messing with it, till I put on your vid. 1 FREAKING nut compression holds on the whole thing. Thank you thank you
I had a different moen kitchen faucet, which developed the same leak issue. Also, I found that a washer less faucet only means there is a valve part that will need to be replaced more often and much more expensive than washers and seat repair. I've had this moon junk for 10 years, replaced that valve assembly 8 times and eve bought 2 spare units because you never know when it will fail. Also, the cheep sprayer attachment, weak plastic water connector leaked when ever it decided. My Mom's house faucet, over 60 years, same faucet, has needed washers or seat repairs only 4 or 5 times. Did I say, "I'll never moen again." Yes, you can quote me.
Since I am replacing the entire fixture, I just cut the hose, removed it from the sleeve, then used a deep well socket and a ratchet on the nut under the fixture. Quick and easy.
This is what im having trouble with . amazing how it is attached like that . this sure helped , the new faucets now dont have this and so much easier to put on and take off. thanks for sharing ~
Good video. Why use a "lifetime warranty" to replace a crappy faucet with another crappy faucet. I didn't recognize the weird tool under my sink until I saw this video. This video was a big help to me. Thanks!
Robert Ruehman Moen is not a crappy product American Standard and Delta are. I started noticing issues with that particular hose a year-and-a-half almost two years ago and I brought that to their attention and every time I called them for a new hose they would send me a couple of them at a time so I didn't need to keep calling them and they said that they were working on redesigning the inside. Moen is a great product so good luck with whatever shitt brand faucet you buy
Thank you. I’ve spent the latter part of 2 hours trying to remove the faucet. Don’t have the tool - faucet was here when I bought the house. This saves me from tearing up my entire sink.
I just went through this today! What I did was took off wing bolt things underneath that holds sink plate or whatever in place, then loosened up the top portion of faucet and I was able to lift it up from sink to get a sawzall blade in there and I just zipped it off in 5 seconds! But that was after wrestling with it underneath for a while! Said screw this, went and grabbed the sawzall, Faucet off!
I had a moen faucet replaced with another moen faucet. What pieces of crap. I should have learned the first time. Now I'm going to replace the 2nd one with something else. I found this video when looking for a way to get the faucet off. Thanks for the video. Mine looks somewhat different but the struggle is the same.
Same faucet here, same piece of crap hose problems. so glad i found this video as i was about to take a hammer to the top piece. Thank You for posting!!
I had one of these and had it repaired several times. The thing almost rotted the bottom of my cabinet out from all the leaks. Great video! I will never own a faucet made by them again.
Although the vdo is 4 years old, but it is what I need. I am having a heck of a time trying to take the things out. It is still stuck there....found the tool and will give it a try.
thanks for the video ~ just saved a marital nuclear home improvement war! Now we know HOW to take it apart if we can get the stripped allen screw out to disassemble and replace the faucet. Currently 2 hours into the process. lol
Mmm. I had the same symptoms. MOEN's lifetime warranty is for original owner, and that's not me. Mine was slightly different. Thanks for the suggestions. I cut mine MOEN out with bolt cutters. Like you said, "It made me very happy."
I have the opposite problem... I need to tighten, but dont have the tool. But, totally shows me how it's supposed to connect, so I think I can figure it out from here! Thanks!
Most Moen faucets have a life time warranty on their (most)stuff. No labor but they send you the stuff you need for free...no shipping either. I'm not sure this guy got that kind of warranty on his replacement. Moen makes good stuff and stands behind it. I'll buy Moen every time. I hate to hear folks bash on a company with no more info than that. Replacing the hose would have been easier than the whole faucet and if it was done before all the leaking and corrosion it wouldn't have been hard to do. I wonder how much it ruined the cabinet and flooring before he really got to fixing it.?
In the UK you use a basin wrench , it's kind of a open ended tool with a different size at each end to suit either 15mm or 22mm BSP fittings. It's not failed to get one off yet lol.
I have a Moen and I'm removing it today. It's been nothing but problems and a pain in the ass. Thanks for the RUclips video because I can't find that special tool, Moens gotta go!
I just spent the past hour removing one of these without the tool and the nut was rusted in place. Ended up doing what he shows in the video but then I took a hacksaw to that pipe that was frozen and threw it all in the trash. The thing was rusted inside and out. Piece of junk.
Wow!!! That was great...I have the same problem...the tool to unscrew the nut under the sink it got busted!!!! So I am going to try what you did....Thank you P.S but away I need it to know the brand as well :) old faucet as well 8 years
Thank you brother, I was getin' the dynamite ready.... then I saw your video, the demon has been exorcised!! It does come out without dynamite! Imagine that! Peace!
He won't get that kind of customer service with American Standard. He destroys a Moen faucet because he's not competent enough to remove it properly. Then he bad mouths the plumber for leaving that tool with him. What was the plumber supposed to do with it.......add it to his collection ?
I did not know we had the tool until after i installed the new faucet. I was cleaning below the sink after the install when i found it. I can care less about Moen's warranty. The faucet was problematic, and i was not going to call customer service for another flawed part. The new American Standard faucet is awesome so far.
Good luck getting Moen to uphold their warranty. I have one and the handle is leaking, it's 4 years old and they are claiming it's user issues. They wiggle out.
You spent several minutes explaining the problem while your title is about the removal. It doesn’t really matter why the issue arose but show us directly how you remove the Faucet.
Stay away from Moen. I'm trying to install one now and the idiots left out the mounting plate and brass nut & washer to mount, called costumer service and was told to wait 3 days without a kitchen sink due to buying their $200 faucet from them. If I buy a 3/8th s nut to replace it, it voids my warranty. Somehow they think its my fault their to lazy to check the box before shipping.
This might help one of y’all. I did not have the tool to remove an old omen faucet. I ended up using a spark plug socket. I removed the rubber insert from the socket and it worked perfectly.
Rightsideofthegrass because of how the deep socket is built, it does not allow the bolt to go all the way down. A spark plug socket is limited in depth by the rubber grommet which is removable. A traditional deep socket is wide enough for the nut but tapers down and therefore the bolt will not fit. I hope that makes sense.
@@hashtagjustadad5110 Thanks. I installed mine more than 15 years ago, and believe it will need replacing soon. The cone/collar under the handle will not stay positioned.
