2007 - 2012 Nissan Altima 2.5 Liter - "Dogbone" Engine Mount Replacement!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 ноя 2024
- Welcome back everybody! In this video, we are going to show you how to replace the front torque strut mount for our 2007 Altima 2.5. This replacement basically involves removing two 18 mm bolts, but in order to get those bolts out, some other things will have to be moved out of the way. That includes the strut tower bracket above the back bolt, in order to pull the bolt out, that will have to be pried up out of the way. The other bolt requires you to move the power steering fluid reservoir out of the way to gain access to remove the other bolt. All in all, it can take about an hour to replace. Enjoy!

As of now how good is that engine mount aka "dog bone"? Is it worth buying? I just recently went to a dealership and they were going to charge 300 to replace it. I am probably going to do it myself, thanks to your video.
Hi Phu Le! I still have it on. It's been holding up well, no tears or cracks with the rubber. I did notice it passes a little more vibration into the car, but nothing crazy I think the best way to go would be to get the OEM mount from Nissan and just install it yourself. Hope this helps you, thanks for watching! 👍
@@TrickShiftGarage Okay thanks, can you provide a link for that dog bone mount? Just to make sure that I order the right one, really appreciate it.
You're welcome! Assuming your altima is a 2007, I found the OEM one, but a fair warning: it's pricey! parts.nissanusa.com/p/nissan_2007_altima-sedan-s-25l-cvt/Rod-Torque/89389106/11350-JA00A.html
The link for the engine mount that I installed is here:

Good luck! 🙂
How is it now?
Thanks for the video bro went to the dealer and they wanted to charge me $518. I checked out your video and did it myself for $69 took me less than 30 minutes!
Just gave son 40 of 70. Hope he did it himself.
I been working on my nissan altima 2011, if it wasn't for your video showing how to change the valve cover, my car would be in my garage...finally is working and running
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
Torque specs for both of these bolts are 63 ft-lbs according to manufacturer's service manual. Stubby 18mm socket with long reach ratchet helps very much for this job. Can be done in under 25 minutes.
Where can I find the torque spec?
Trick shift garage baby!!! Thanks for the vid will try this soon
Awesome, let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching! 👍
Any plans to make a video on replacing the lower/rear engine mount? I did it a couple years ago and the aftermarket part already needs to be replaced. It was a major pain so wondering if you could show a better way 😎
I'll take a look and inspect my engine mounts the next time I'm under there. They are the original mounts so it really could be time to replace them. Thanks for watching! 😎
Was the lower worn out that wen u drive it make a lot of sound ..?
@@Trill89Atwg Lots of vibration from inside the car. I replaced it (again) and the process wasn’t as bad as the first time because i modified my approach. I managed to barely get the bolt out where the exhaust is in the way. Vibration didn’t disappear but all 3 other mounts are 3rd party garbage and need to be replaced.
Thank you so much for your video :) what were the symptoms before replacement? Was it a rattling noise when you came to a stop ?
You're very welcome. I didn't have any rattle noise and wasn't feeling anything. I discovered the rubber isolator inside was cracked and deteriorating. Guess I caught it before the rattling started haha! Thanks for watching! 👍
Nice video very helpful by any chance do you have videos on replacing the other mounts?
Not yet but will look into that soon. Thanks for watching! 👍
Great video. Ready to do it
Thanks and great! If you have any questions, just let us know 👍
Thanks for the video brother you did good❤
best video so far. thx dor sharing
Thanks for watching Richie!! 👍
hey boss man . what were the symptoms of the vehicle ?
was it rough idling ?
the wheel shaking when braking ?
things like that?
No
Shaking wheel and a little knock
Thank you very much 😊
You're welcome ☺️
What size is the bolt removed from 1:46 time in the video?
Thank you
Nice video 👍
Thanks for watching! 🤟
New subscriber here. Any chance you could show the mount change for the bottom rear engine one?
Thanks for subscribing! Planning on replacing all the engine mounts (minus this one) sometime this year so stay tuned. 🙂👍
@Trick Shift Garage ok. I think I will have to try it on my own then. One last question- from all the videos I have seen, the rear engine mount is the only one that does not need me to support the engine or the transmission as long as the other 3 mounts are in place. Am I missing something here?
very good job
Thanks for watching Isaiah! 🙂
Any suggestions on what to do if the horizontal bolt does not line up with the hole in the block? After lots of trying I just put the old one back on so I can get to work tomorrow, and it lined up fine for that one.
I had to rock the engine around a bit in order to line up that horizontal bolt. It was a bit of a pain, so if you have a buddy that can help move and hold the engine in place so you can line it up, that would probably do the trick. Good luck and thank you so much for watching! 😊
@@TrickShiftGarageis that when you turn on the engine for a bit to move it ? just making sure
You shouldn't have to turn the engine on to move it into position, if possible try a 2x4 to give alittle more leverage to line it up.
Yes my garage is slightly declined so the engine shifted forward. Think I will remove the top cover to slide the bolt in
@@herbcity2146I had the same problem. I pried it back with a crowbar and now I'm hearing all kinds of weird noises? Any ideas. I swear if I put the broken mount back in, the noise would go away.
Nice 👍 video 📸
Thanks Ronald! 👍
Did you notice any difference in the drive after installation?
Thanks for your comment! Honestly, I felt a little more vibration after installing the new one, but it's nothing crazy or drastic. I also noticed when I accelerate, it feels like it gets moving better. I'm not saying the car got faster or anything like that, it just feels like the car accelerates smoother I guess. Thanks for watching! 👍
@@TrickShiftGarage i just replaced mine also and i also did notice more vibration and now the engine runs a little rough and makes more noise when i accelerate any ideas guys, i feel like should have left the old one alone
Hmm, I'd go over all the bolts and make sure they are tightened down good first. If the engine mount is all you replaced, I'd guess that your engine has been running rough, you're noticing it more because of the engine mount. You can buy the OEM Nissan mount and that should reduce the vibrations. Hope this helps!
@@TrickShiftGarage ok thanks a lot bud, ill try that!!
You're welcome! Let us know how it goes!
Do I need a torque wrench?
Or can I just tighten by hand
I would use a torque wrench for this one 👍
Hows this mount holding up?
It's been holding up good, no cracks or breaks 👍
@Trick Shift Garage Nice! I'm getting ready to do mine but the dealership is asking $160 for the oem but I've seen some cheaper ones for around $17-40 on Amazon.
I believe it! Obviously the OEM one is designed and made to last a long time. Mine lasted about 14 years! Who knows if the Amazon one will go that long lol. So keep that in mind when you're making your decision. 😉
I managed to strip the threads on the big engine bracket. Do you happen to know the thread size pitch for that big bolt?
Hey Jackson! I couldn't find the size pitch online but I did find the bolt you can order from Nissan here:
www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-bolt~11298-ja03d.html
I'll keep searching and let you know when/if I find it! 🤞
@@TrickShiftGarage Awesome thanks
You're welcome! Did that bolt do the trick?
@@TrickShiftGarage I havent found out yet what the thread pitch is. What I need to fix with a Helicoil or time sert is the hole that it goes into. That is stripped.
Gotchya, I'll see what I can find out 👍
0:30 theres ratings for those things lol

You fucked the torque wrench up
Nope! Still working great!
@@TrickShiftGarage you check it
Good job
Thanks for watching! 🤟
